My first baby... *sniff*#

RIP beauty.

Loved that thing.

That was also my first Mac, 12" PB G4 1.33ghz with Superdrive. I later upgraded the hard drive and the ram.

I sold it to my brother several years later, he used it until a few years ago when it became almost impossible to play online web content with it due to outdated browsers/flash player etc...

I should get it back from him for a case of beer. :)

Apart from a dead HDD that thing was near indestructible. I thrashed mine for five years before passing it on to my sister.

It's a classic model IMO.

If you're using an Eye-Fi card in a camera in the field and need an instant review, this would be nice. Certainly not as a work horse, though.

Currently, I take my 15" Macbook to shoots but use my iPad Mini as the first choice for review. Photos are sent to both devices wirelessly in case a slight bit of editing is needed. Macbook for the latter.

Unless they plan on sticking 4TB SSD in this thing they need some ports. Regardless what you use this for most people will need some storage. I suppose there will eventually be proprietary docks for this but suppose you want to dock it to a drive and charge it at the same time. I don't like the direction. It should have at the minimum an extra USB and a TB port. Otherwise might just as well get an ipad or even the new 12" ipad pro.

xgman - circa 1997.

USB C is USB. It just looks different than you are used to.

So I love my macAir13.2013late. Fills my light needs. Is fastest. Fits right into my family/home series of devices. Wraps basically seamless participation in Apple environment. So a new smaller one is umm ,,., not going to replace my iPad-MacAir dual themes. Besides, isn't this the year of phablets and phones and devices getting bigger?

Connectivity: the one thing that will let this device down. And with such thin profile I don't know what kind of battery they are gonna put in it. I wonder if it will be able to handle all day like the current 13" Air.

After finally seeing the retina MacBook unveiled, I am most definitely NOT eating my words.

Have you seen it live, holding it in your hands? Compared the screen, touchpad, weight etc to the MBA side by side?

Not saying that the MBA is better or worse for you, that is something only you can answer. I'm just curious if you compared them both IRL.

No I've not seen it IRL, but I need the ports, longer battery and more powerful CPU of my customised i7 Air.

Well, then just enjoy the right choice you've made, and you probably shouldn't see it IRL either, Retina screens are kind of deceiving… :)
