wow! I agree there's a lot of sour grapes, but what most of those miss is that there is a niche users that could benefit from a larger iPad (graphics creators maybe) but want portability and they this need is so key that it's worth the money for them. For many others it wouldn't be worth the money even if you're a billionaire. And by the way, I've earned very well over the years and I can tell you for sure that I didn't work nearly as hard as countless others that made less. Here we go, another round of sour-grapes driven Apple-bashing from commenters who don't work hard enough to enjoy their innovation.
And by innovation you mean adding a folding screen to a 15 year old product in 4 years? Is this another one of those "can't innovate anymore my ass!" moments? Here we go, another round of sour-grapes driven Apple-bashing from commenters who don't work hard enough to enjoy their innovation.

Yeah, but let’s be honest, after the Vision Pro, that price is definitely within the Tim Cook price range. There is no way that Apple even knows the price of a device coming in 2029. Mark is such a liar and headline dramatic. Anything to stay in the news.
$3,900 is DOA for mass adoption.
Apple's large-screened foldable iPad could be delayed due to development issues, reports Bloomberg. Apple wanted to launch the device in 2028, but problems with weight and display technology may cause it to be pushed back until 2029.

Multiple rumors have suggested that Apple is working on a large foldable device, though information has diverged on whether it will be positioned as an iPad or a Mac. The product is expected to have an 18-inch display created by Samsung, with Apple focusing on minimizing the display crease.
A large foldable OLED display is expensive, and the foldable device could be up to three times as expensive as the 13-inch iPad Pro. Apple charges $1,299 for the 13-inch iPad Pro, so if prices doesn't come down for components over the next few years, the foldable iPad could cost as much as $3,900.
When the iPad is closed, it looks like a Mac, with an aluminum shell and no exterior display. When open, it is similar in size to the 13-inch MacBook Air, but there is no physical keyboard. Because of the large screen size and the aluminum chassis, prototypes weigh around 3.5 pounds, making it significantly heavier than the current iPad Pro models.
According to Bloomberg, the foldable iPad is apparently similar in design to the Huawei MateBook Fold, which is an 18-inch foldable tablet priced at $3,400.

you get a bigger 18 inch screen “laptop” that’s thin and small you can carry aroundI don't really get the use case for this. At least with a foldable phone you are getting something pocketable that opens to have a screen the size of a small tablet, but what does folding up your iPad accomplish? Just so you can carry a smaller bag?
I won't speculate as to why you would consider it. As for me, I'd consider it as a laptop replacement device. Advantages over a MBP: larger screen, lighter and more portable, option to use in full-table or full laptop mode with keyboard. For this to work, Apple would need to revamp iPadOS so it can run all or most apps that run on MacOS. In that case, I could see this device appealing to a niche market of folks who want to travel light with a large-screen device, who don't need the compute power of a fully speced MBP.DOA. Why would I ever consider this over a MacBook Pro?
