Looks like Apple is abandoning the Mac Mini?? Shame, its a great little computer. I love my mac mini (late 2009 model) and want another one. But I definitely do not want to buy the current one, its dated already.

How about an Apple retina display for the Mac Pro? I don't need a huge one. Even 20" would be fine.

I don't have time to discuss analysts here. All I know after following Apple for a long time is that Kuo is one of the best analysts following AAPL with a good track record. Most analysts have a mediocre track record in comparison.

PS: If you think it's so easy apply for an analyst job at any big broker or bank. The job pays very well. Or trade Apple stock yourself and become rich if you know the future of the company better than the analysts or brokers/traders.

Kuo does seem to be relatively well-sourced. Many posters here go straight into ridicule mode whenever an analyst's predictions are published, no matter who they are or what they say. Some analysts are deserving of ridicule, because they are so often wide of the mark, but the knee-jerk reaction is hardly called for. It's also kind of ironic, considering this is a site built around rumors, so it makes me wonder why a person would read this site if educated guesses are so anathema to them. Kuo's are as at least good as any other, and a lot better than most.

I hope you are right - especially about this part:

First we will see at WWDC: the new Mac-mini, and the Cheaper iMac/iMac Pro (as well a 28"4K Thunderbolt Pro Display -again in Black-), and maybe the Colored iPad/iPad mini (red,pink/golden/blue).

Can't bring myself to buy the current Thunderbolt display. It will have been a year since they touted the ability to run 4K (non-Apple) displays.

Maybe the low cost iMac will be the new mini. Meaning it would be a desktop machine without a built in screen but have a desktop class processor.

I gave up on waiting and used the money to buy an iPad Air. I doubt a Mini is coming this year.

My 2008 black MB will make it another year till a new Mini comes out or maybe even an MBP.

I'll wait till WWDC. If they don't update at the event then I will purchase current.

Mini Still Holds Its Own (But I still want a refresh)

I just purchased a late-2012 Mac Mini (server) and a 2013/2014 Mac Pro (workstation). Like everyone else, I've been waiting for Godot on a Mini refresh, but needed a new Mini right now. I spec'd the Mini's performance against the Pro's using geekbench -- the Mini's multi-core CPU is only 10% slower than a fancy new multi-core Pro! The geekbench scores for non-GPU basic functions are Mini, 2900, and Pro, 3250 (single core).

I hope the Mini is refreshed with some updated capability and architecture, however I do not foresee needing 64 GB memory on the Mini. The bottom line is that Moore's law is over for CPU performance and the late-2012 Mini still holds its own against a brand new Mac Pro for the most common tasks.

Screen resolutions are more difficult in iOS because Apple has designed the OS around specific pixel densities. Changing them means blurry images for UI elements which would NOT look good.

Uh - does that means that we will see letter boxing of Iphone 5 apps?

I don't see a way around it unless Apple tips his hand at WWDC and let the developers know of the 3rd resolution they will have to support (4/4s/5/5s and now 6)

Agreed...it is obvious Kuo has a mole in supply chain...last year he mentioned a sapphire fingerprint sensor in the home button January before anyone.

Every year seems like apple does all their releases towards x-mas, which makes sense from a business standpoint. But from a marketing standpoint they should stagger the releases over the full course of the year (ie release something in q1) to create the buzz from all the tech sites and allow hype to build leading into the holiday quarter.

Nothing anybody couldn't have guessed

Excuse me?

No one else predicted the 8GB iPod touch without rear camera, in fact, everyone laughed at him before it actually turned out to be true.

No one predicted the white and amber LED flash on the iPhone 5s, not in January 2013 they didn't.

No one believed him that there would be basically zero updates in Q1 and Q2... well, guess what, they ended up waiting for Q3, just like he predicted.

Seems pretty accurate. Kuo is usually 80-90 % there. His only wrong prediction last year was the Mac Mini Refresh, and that likely was originally scheduled. Why it didn't happen, who knows.

I don't like the delay in the 5.5" screen iPhone, but it looks like that is happening. The 4.7" resolution is way lower than expected. This is the first time I may hold off on an iPhone upgrade. I love one handed use, but I would seriously consider the larger model but want to see it in person first.

Sad to see the Apple TV refresh taking so long, was hoping that would be earlier...maybe we will get an SDK at WWDC, but I doubt it.

The iWatch of course is interesting, but the $1000 price point for the high end! Damn.

Very interested in seeing the 12" Macbook Air. I do love my 13" rMBP though, and was an Air user for years. Would consider going back but we shall see.

Don't know how they are going to do a cheaper iMac, unless they just sell an older model or go back to plastic.

Biggest complaint: Apple NEEDS TO STOP putting all their product announcements within a few months of each other. Getting too expensive in too short a period of time, especially with all these new items.

A person doesn't have to buy every new product the day it's announced.

A person doesn't have to buy every new product the day it's announced.

It's way more than just that. It's about having "hits" throughout the year. Apple used to make headlines every few months. Now everything is condensed. Steve knew how to play the media better. This is one reason for the stock drop. Apple is cramming too much into too short a time. It's giving credence to the lack of innovation and development.

No NFC

NFC lol, never. If Apple believed in NFC they would have implemented it already. Bluetooth LE is way more practicable for every application I could think of. Be it in, proximity tracking, payments, communication with sensors or inter-device data transfer

Thank You,
Kuo

Also Thank you Arn.

So if there really is no Mac Mini update, and apple is releasing a lower cost iMac probably around $999. Then Maybe Apple is switching back to the quadrant model. 2 portables x 2 desktops, for consumer and professional.

Portable: MacbookAir/MacBook(Consumer) and MacBookPro(Professional)

Dekstop: iMac(Concumer) and MacPro(Professional)

I have a total lack of confidence in the name "iWatch" - a bit too off-the-cuff, pardon the pun. Who says that, even if this product isn't a wind up (sorry! :p) on Apple's behalf, that the watch feature will even be the primary feature or focus?

You do realise that ALL Apple products have clocks in them, but they're not called "iWatch", right? Why should this be, necessarily? I think you're being distracted by the lack of imagination of the journalists and pundits.

iMonitor? iDeas...

Nerds need to move on and get over Apple's lack of NFC, because it's not likely at all. Apple likes QR codes (Passbook) and AirDrop, and consumers like "Chip and PIN"... and NFC doesn't seem to have a place in Apple's plans, from a viewpoint of logical progression.

Well, if the "low cost" iMac is going to follow the iPhone pattern, it means it will be 100 $ cheaper than the next one and will lack many features, to make everybody want to buy the next model.

Unfortunately, everything on the "normal cost" model will have to be added as extra paid options (RAM, drive, keyboard, screen …) :(

As a result, you'll start by considering a "low-cost" iMac for just under $ 1.000 but you'll end up spending twice as much for the iMac you really need… If you can still afford it.

=> "Low cost" for Tim and Co means more expensive for us.
