Just because another has it first and Apple added it after doesn't mean they copied.

Lol. But when Apple has it first, everyone else copied them. Notice how iOS 7 changed the UI to copy Android?

We'd never get anywhere otherwise. I know Apple take longer but they get things right. Like performance for example. The 6s obliterates the Note7 and its 12 months older.

In what way does the 6s obliterate the note? The note is a much better piece of hardware in every way. Like you, I very much prefer iOS, but as a piece of hardware, the Note7 absolutely embarrasses Timmy and the iPhone 6s.

I didn't mention design. I mentioned performance. I'll say it again. The iPhone 6s obliterates the Note7.

They will wait until sales tank for their larger models and then go back to the drawing board and come up with magical and innovative 4-inch iPhone.
Oh the roadmap! I forgot about the roadmap. Thank you!

What, in a contrived test with specific apps, doing something nobody does in real life?

Obliteration depends on what you need/want, and whether a phone has it or not. For example:
  • The Note 7 has a larger screen than the iPhone 6 Plus, yet it is smaller and fits better in a pocket.
  • The Note 7 has an iris scanner.
  • The Note 7 has a pen.
  • The Note 7 has split windows capability.
  • The Note 7 can have an always on notification display.
  • The Note 7 can be charged wirelessly.
  • The Note 7 has fast charging capability.
  • The Note 7 has a secure drawer where you can hide apps and files that only you can see.
  • The Note 7 can inexpensively add up to 256GB of storage.
  • The Note 7 has a great camera.

Switching back to the thread topic, I agree with those who think Apple might put their own little twist on a curved screen. Perhaps it'll use the top and bottom edges, for example. Or 3D Touch to activate.

"There's a secure folder that you can use to store private photos, files, and separate versions of your apps."

"You unlock the secure folder using the iris scanner (or passcode, if you prefer)."

I could really use one those secure drawers.

I don't understand this. Is the iPhone not a premium device already?

Yes yes yes, but you need to understand the innovation here. This curve display business is way more edgy and clearly premiumer than any smart phone ever created. REVOLUTION!!! Can't innovate my ass! 2017 and we will have the edge with revolutionary new iPhone with curved OLED display. WOOOT!!!!

WOW ... you must be one of those self-described power users because for the remaining 99.9999% of smartphone owners they wouldn't have noticed the slightest difference.

You'll notice it...

I've already noted the changes we'll see in the iPhone 7. I'm not listing them again. Have a great day.

Quite the opposite. There are stories of Job's hatred of Google for their aping of iOS. He despised the copycat culture of both Google and Microsoft - remember the "get your photocopiers ready Redmond" thing at Macworld?
Now we have an Apple with no visionary at the helm, declining sales, and rumours of their next iPhone being a clone of a Samsung design which is already years old. It's frankly embarrassing.

What? That was not even my point from my previous post to you. Clearly you have no idea of what I was referring to.

Don't speak for Jobs as if he was your lunch buddy you sat next to in middle school. You have no idea and cannot predict where Apple would have been or would be, even if he was still alive. I laugh when I read posts stating what Jobs would have done or not done for that matter in today's age.

For example, the Apple Watch, do you know how many comments Are on Macrumors that stated Steve Jobs would never produced the Apple Watch. Yet, most do not know that the Apple Watch was Steve Jobs last project he worked on. And the 'Apple Car' for that matter as well.

Most who try and speak for Jobs, only add their own personal rant mixed in, seemingly justifying as if Steve Jobs was their neighbor. It's silly and preposterous.

Yes, Apple does need to make some adjustments in their hardware department, but the last thing Apple needs to do, is take advice from the "I know Steve Jobs would have done it this way or Steve Jobs would have said this" crowd. No one can speak for Steve Jobs, except for himself.

That would actually be really neat. Many of us place out phones face down (for various reasons) and despite the addition of facetime cameras, the front camera never equals the quality of the rear camera, so, for good "power selfies" (friend made that up) you can either use your Watch as a viewfinder (if you have one), or guess that you and others are in the shot and background.

There could be many other neat applications for 2 screens (even if the 2nd was smaller) that I am sure app developers could be highly innovative with.
I put my phone face down so people/I can't see my screen, not to see a second screen light up with the same notifications.

I love the fact that Apple is working on a brand new design with OLED screen and new features. The only problem for me is that so far the rumors say that such new designs and features will be only available for the 5.5/5.8 inches model.

Apple seems to keep the newest features for the larger iPhones only, and that is kind of irritating to me. It already happened with the iPhone SE vs iPhone 6 (no 3D touch), iPhone 6 vs iPhone 6 plus (no optical stabilization, screen pixel density) and it's gonna happen again in the iPhone 7 vs iPhone 7 plus (no dual camera, less RAM).

I wouldn't mind paying more for a smaller phone with the same features of the larger ones. I find it frustrating that I won't be able to purchase an iPhone with an all new design and new features just because it can't actually fit in my pocket.

WRONG

The 2017 Iphone 7 will not wrap around like a Galaxy.

Think:

So same frame as current phones but more real estate

2017? We are still in 2016 and don't even know what Apple are going to "surprise" us with next month.

To your point. It's still too crowded. A "pro" phone? C'mon. There is no "pro" use for a phone, like say, a computer, or a drill, or mixer. A "pro" line just confuses people and sounds ridiculous. Keep it simple with just one iPhone: Big, bigger, biggest. The "pro" moniker is getting out of hand. Pretty soon McDonalds will rename it's large size "pro."

Cheap model - nix it. High production cost, low profit. That's not Apple's business model, or at least wasn't. If Apple wants to start to chase marketshare at the expense of margin then all is lost with Apple innovation.

While I agree to most of what you said I need to clear 2 things:

1-I too thought pro-phone was stupid until I saw people who make a living off them. I now an accountant who said I no longer user a computer, I do everything on my phone (outside office). Another example are social media celebreties.

2-I agree Apple's business model is not the cheaper hardware, but in a market of 2 billion customers with only 2 platforms (Andoird and iOS) I guess there is a place for Apple in the cheaper segment. They don't want to repeat the 80's mistake where they let Windows become the standard of PCs.

A growing number of people wear glasses, and an iris scanner is less convienent for them than a simple fingerprint scanner.

does that mean that they should just not have included it?

I don't get that mentality. "it's not good for me, so nobody else should have it" is absolutely one of the most ridiculous mindsets to take. especially for an options feature that you can choose to use or not

No, just that it really isn't brag worthy right now.

Well that's good for a laugh.

My 2011 MBP also boots up faster than my high end gaming PC (which is about 10 times faster in use -- like graphics rendering). A Cessna gets from the hangar to cruising altitude a heck of a lot faster than a 747, but not a lot of people are going to say a Cessna obliterates a 747.

I guess when you've got nothing, you need to brag about silly stuff like App loading time.

Edit: And don't forget that test is carefully crafted to make the iPhone look good. Working around the memory limitations on the iPhone and the poor mulit-core performance of the iPhone.

So only ONE top 2017 model will be OLED??? Other 2 will be the same?
That's hardly a "revolution"

Exactly what I was thinking. Would make no sense for them to do such thing as it's pretty obvious which model would be in huge demand from launch. Thankfully this is just rumor for now.

which country are you from my friend?

England.

I think it was Samsung's atttempt to bring the note and Galaxy series in line. it's confusing in the market to have the S7 the current flagship, and then have the Note 6 release afterwards.

this way, it keeps everything tightly knit. the Note 7 is the big sister of the S7 and keeps in the same generation.

Good call well said. Didn't think of that.

The "slander" was based on culture not race. The term culture was even used. The comment was pointed at South Korean culture. Can't you see the distinction? (I didn't make the original comment btw). Case in point Jeff Foxworthy makes a career joking about rednecks. That is a culture he is making fun of, he isn't making racist remarks at all. Now if his jokes were about "White People", that would fit the term racist.

So while I understand what you are saying and agree with the spirit of your comment, it doesn't really address the misuse of the term and you will indeed see many people scoff at the label, especially when it is used to stifle their free speech.

So people are never racist to Africans then using your logic. Race is about more then colour. Anyway enough said about it on this thread I think.
