I'm talking plastic frames and lenses with no case or iPhone. You want the metal frames and better lenses than the cost skyrockets.

I still think it'll be way more than $1k.

I mean -- look at the AVP and think of tech and miniaturization that will be required for these.

From Apple -- I just think something like this will be more like $2k, to start, honestly.

I really don’t get why this news item already is claiming that development has stopped on Vision Pro 2, while all this is based on rumours spread by the greatest hack in journalism “Mark Gurman”. Stop bringing this as fact, while none of it is even remotely credible or confirmed by real sources.

$2k smart glasses will be an epic failure! Not to mention the smart glasses are going to be heavy with all the tech incliuded.

Given that Apple has addressed design challenges with techniques like notches and plateaus, it might do the same with glasses and redefine what people expect glasses to look like.View attachment 2562869
I think those were “design challenges” only because they prioritized form over function in the extreme. I doubt they would have lost any customers if the phones had kept a small bezel for the camera.

As for this mock-up, I can see someone showing up with that on being met with a dismissive
“Who are you supposed to be? The Three-eyed ******* raven?” 😆

I don't disagree & I hope I'm wrong.

But we just saw them do VR for $3,500 ... and it was an epic failure.

Hope they learned something, both about what a compelling offering needs to be and how it needs to be priced.

Right? I miss the days when apple simply released the first personal computers, first digital music players, first smart phone, first tablet, first wireless earphones, first VR headset, etc...

Yeah... and I remember when the above were instantly panned here on this forum upon introduction. Nothing has changed since then.

iPod: "Who asked for a thousand songs in your pocket (mocking Jobs' iPods introduction)?"
iPhone: "Who asked for a non-mechanical keyboard?"
iPad: "Its just a big iPhone. Who asked for that?"
Watch: "Who asked for that? I'll look at my iPhone if I need to know the time."
AirPods: "Who's going to put those in their ears? They look like a feminine hygiene product."

Well, it is a rumors site after all 🤷‍♂️

I guess this is MacRUMORS so I’ll bite. Like any rumor, I’ll believe it when I see something concrete. Apple has the tech chops to make a better pair of glasses for iOS users. Metas glasses are awful unless you really love their AI. (I use mine only for audio and a rare photo or video.)

I’d like more AirPods versions - maybe AirPods Frames that are just the audio tech in a pair of stylish frames that I can buy at any optometrist? (Does anyone remember the short-lived Bose Frames?) Oh, wait, Meta has already partnered with Ray-Ban, which is owned by the same company as LensCrafters, which is the largest optical chain.

I thought Apple would go all in on wearables after the Watch, but they haven’t shipped any new form factors. Someone is asleep at the wheel…

Timothy Donald Cook is who you're looking for.

I can't say that I am optimistic about these, however, it is Apple, they will likely be good. The Facebook glasses may be more capable but the first thing that they have going against them is that they are Facebook glasses labeled as Meta. There is no one more slimy in tech than Zuck the **** with the only exception possibly being Larry Ellison. Apple at least respects their own customers and treat them like the actual customer.

What does "good" mean to you for these?

Good like the AVP?

(great tech, meh form factor & comfort, very poor content support, even from apple, and hideously overpriced).

Good like that?
They offer something useful technically and don't make me look like an idiot like those Facebag glasses would. That they actually look like glasses that I would choose as....glasses?
