I want to say I saw a post last week about a 30" display being feasible, but the 6K part would introduce costs and/or rival the Pro Display XDR, so Apple probably wouldn't make that change.

can't wait. That or Mac Mini Pro with Apple display. :)

I have a pair of 31.5" 2650x1440 IPS monitors that I would use with a M1 Max-powered Mac mini, so I would pass on an Apple monitor right now...

I hope the Prosser renders (shorter Mac mini available in a rainbow of colors) are for any Mx-series Mac minis (M1, M2, etc.), and I hope it gets more venting than shown...

I also hope Apple gives us a taller Mac mini Pro (available in Silver & Space Gray) chassis; room for a larger heat sink & better fan, all the better to cool the M1 Pro & M1 Max SoCs; and please keep the internal PSU, thanks...!

It's going to have a chin. You're just setting people up for disappointment with these mockup renders.
For real, the graphic design is terrible here. We've seen the 24" iMacs and we know it will be somewhat similar to that design.

A 32'' would seriously have me considering selling my 2019 MP and external monitor.

But then again, I was using Logic in an Apple store with a MP and Display XDR and it felt a bit too laggy for my liking. But maybe that's not an issue with an embedded display...? Would have to demo it. But hey, if its 27'' its not a consideration for me.

As I feared, there's most likely only one larger iMac "Pro" model coming in early 2022, and it'll be in the Spring. Thread below re: today's article, and another from Ross in October.

The underlying comments in this thread are either about how greedy Apple is gonna be with the price, or how they’re gonna stiff us with this arbitrary ‘pR0’ features

I initially said $2500, but didn’t take into account that Apple like to squeeze every penny out of consumers.

if the next ~27" iMac is mini-led (with alot of local dimming zones) and at least promotion 120hz, count me in.

last year i upgraded to a 27" 1440p 144hz monitor for my 2018 Mini and I can't go back to a standard 60hz monitor. :)

Target Display Mode or bust :)

Edit to point out: It would be an actual selling point for people working from home. Just plug in your work laptop and *boom*, it's a sweet display. (I used my 2010 iMac like that for years).
they have that. It's called screen mirroring

I got an M1 Max 16", so I'm set for this generation.

However, I can't wait for this to drop so that an even larger chunk of Intel machines can be phased out and this hopefully will encourage an even faster switch for developers to compile apps for Apple Silicon.

With the entry level M1s I could kinda understand some developers avoiding this, but with basically 90% of the apple silicon transition ready by summer, it'll be very weird for developers to have apps compatible only with an obsolete standard, and the Macbook Pros and iMacs will make lots of professional jump to the Apple Silicon bandwagon.

Personally, in my case, I'm more worried by Plugin Developers (I work in After Effects and I use lots of plugins), as pretty much all apps have been already converted or at least are in advanced Betas.

I have been testing the Apple Silicon beta of After Effects since day one (October the 21st) and in less than 2 months I noticed already some big improvements.
The latest update made it, except for plugin compatibility, finally usable for professional work.
If development keeps this pace, I expect the full release ready by spring 2022.

A new 30" iMac ('Pro' or not) with smaller bezels would be same physical size as today's 27" iMac. Larger display, more working area, more differentiation to the current 24" iMac. That makes more sense to me, regardless of what these predictions say.

Chin or no chin - I don't mind the chin and if they need that space to accommodate everything, fine. It's invisible to me once I'm using the computer.

Apple has had the 27" size iMac since late 2009, the 5K 27" iMac since late 2014. The 2022 iMac will be the first substantial re-design in nearly 8 years! Display quality will surely be improved (thus mini-LED), and I think that a larger size iMac is also a good bet.

An LG 27" OLED panel costs $3,000 by itself. Don't think we'll see that in an imac till the price drops substantially. Plus, the current 5K screen is still quite nice.

can't wait. That or Mac Mini Pro with Apple display. :)

I ended up choosing the 16" mbpro because I needed a new work machine now (april is too late), but also because I expected the 2022 iMac to be outrageously expensive, mostly becsuse of the Liquid Retina XDR Display, and I'd still need a second display.
I'd rather spend roughly the same amount of money on a 16" and an Apple display.

Starting price of $2500, you heard it here first folks!

I have no doubt the imac pro will be outrageously expensive.

Give us the external consumer level display....

I really hope for something in the middle.
Having a traditional LCD for professionals would be obsolete (terrible technology for video editors and colorists), so it'd have to be the liquid retina XDR, however I'd hope that by removing promotion and making it smaller (27") we could have something in the ballpark of 1500$.
I'd totally get one of those.

When I first read the title
I missed that it said iMac Pro.

I was guessing just it being the next larger screen iMac with new design

I'd really like the iMac to be redesigned to lose the chin, and look either like an iPad Pro on the magic keyboard stand, or the Pro Display XDR. If Apple really wanted to make money (albeit totally *******-y), make it in the same format as the Pro Display, and make people pay for the $999 stand or the $179 VESA mount adaptor.

If Apple does make an M# iMac Pro, add at least one internal M.2 or U.2 port to it to supplement the builtin SSD. While the MacBook Pros can get 8 TB SSDs, it would be nice to be able to add additional internal memory. Content creators would enjoy that for sure.
