And the iMac (24") does not have a notch, so why would the iMac Pro (27")?
That's a fair point. But it does lead me to believe that Apple will retain some kind of chin on the bigger iMac. My larger point is that there must be something to the design that it doesn't just look like a monitor from any manufacturer. A featureless rectangle doesn't sound super Apple.

Contro ogni previsione, spero ancora che sia senza mento e almeno un 30" o 32", il mio iMac del 2010 è quasi morto, se non mi dura fino al nuovo iMac Pro che monitor da 32" per il Mac Mini M1, grazie !

I know. I doubt it will come back. But it would make the difference between me buying a Mini and another iMac. I don't have space on my desk for 2 large displays. I'm sure I'm not alone. I do see it as a selling point, but Apple never takes my advice, for some reason ;)
Doesn't Airplay to Mac completely replace TDM? It even works over usb so you don't need to worry about wifi packet loss and latency. I don't have a host mac that's compatible at the moment so I haven't been able to try it myself, I'm not sure if there would be any issues or annoyances when using it all day every day as a monitor and if this is a use case Apple is intending. It's weird that they didn't ever compare it to TDM when they announced this feature.

If by "completely", you mean "in some situations", then possibly. I work from home with a PC sometimes (though usually a Mac). TDM was perfect for me. I am not all people, though.

To be honest I'm more interested in the performance that the screen or the design itself. It will look good for sure, but for me it would be very disappointing if these came "just" with the M1 Pro and Max. Don't get me wrong, those are extremely good SoC's, but if we're talking about Desktop-class performance, then they fall behind the competition. And if they aimed and partially achieved the performance of a 3060-3070 Mobile, then shouldn't they try to aim the performance of the desktop counterparts on their Desktop computer?

Another theory is that they could save that new workstation desktop class SoC for the Mac Pro, leaving the iMac with less GPU performance that the last generation (which doesn't make any sense to me).

not at all, to me its the equivalent of Remote Desktop. There is video compression Wirelessly or via USB. TDM using Thunderbolt had better throughput from the device and better bandwidth, with airplay you still have to get the other Mac to display on the host Mac, if its headless might as well just use a Remote Desktop app.

The "M1 MAX Duo" (Jade2C-Die) might be a BTO option.

I do not expect it to have the "M1 MAX Quad" (Jade4C-Die) - if that now even ships, it will be a Mac Pro exclusive. And if the Mac Pro is pushed into 2023, it might just start with 4-way M2 instead.
