Agreed. After buying my first Apple system (20" iMac) in 2007 I fell in love with Apple products. A year later I found myself rocking on a 2.8 octo Mac Pro. My Pro runs circles around any PC I own regarding pure processing power. But then I started looking at displays and, while I wanted that shiny new ACD, I couldn't bring myself to say that their displays are worth the money...not even close.
I won't use their ACD display on my old Mac Pro because someone decided to use a crappy M-DP that requires an additional $100 adapter just to use with DVI or even spend an additional $350 for a "new" overpriced M-DP video card that is still a year behind the rest of the market. Won't use them with my Macbook Pro because that's also DVI. The Apple fanboy answer would easily be "buy all new stuff if you want to use it". Yeah... That seems to be the answer with everything Apple these days - "if you want it to work, spend more money".
The funny thing is the level of fail Apple puts out that people are willing to accept - it's amazing. At what point do people become so blinded by their love for a label that they can't see past their own nose? They make their displays incompatible with 1-2 year old systems so you have to A.) upgrade to a new system or B.) buy an outdated video card at an almost 200% markup.
End of my rant; still love my Apple systems but their displays can suck an egg. I hope you fanboys enjoy your crippled, overpriced video cards and displays. I'm sure you won't think twice about it.
