they should’ve shown more behind-the-scenes details and secrets of F1 (at least what’s allowed).

And what I find incredibly disappointing is that they had so many current F1 drivers, but they were basically just extras — not even a single line of dialogue.

Regarding “more insight into the FIA etc”: I guess they weren’t allowed to? Maybe the FIA wanted to remain exclusive and elusive?

Regarding other drivers: maybe they didn’t want to, or contractually weren’t allowed (each appearance would be like free marketing for that team… so for some to get an appearance and others not to may have seemed unfair).

Also, too many current drivers may have made the film a bit less timeless.

Remember (and I get why a real F1 fan would want more), it’s a work of entertainment fiction. It needs to cater for everyone, and be accessible to all, not just existing F1 fans. If you want more realistic insight, that’s what documentaries and things like Drive to Survive are for.

Yeah, I guess that’s probably the case. It’s still a bit of a shame, though. But either way, I really enjoyed it — it looked great and was a good experience. If it comes to Apple TV+ later, I’d definitely watch it again.

hey, it's cool if it makes money for Apple. I just hope they don't forget that they are still a Tech company first, not a Film/TV/Media production company. Too much of this will dilute its image the way Amazon has become ( what is Amazon exactly , a delivery company, a film/TV production house, a server/distributed computing company , etc ?)

Yet another self-indulgent Brad Pitt movie with him trying hard to look like 70s Robert Redford. How original 🤦‍♂️ He is the embodiment of platitudes. Messiah Brad Pitt - living out of a van - comes in and tells the entire F1 team how to do their job... Marvel movies are more realistic.
You basically described 99% of non-authorial American movies.

ive never really understood how movies like this make money because surely everyone knows its coming to AppleTV+ sooner rather than later.

Sure, the cinema experience is all very well - but increasingly annoying with people who have no idea how to behave in public using their phones etc etc and talking throughout... and the cost is getting prohibitive especially for a family.

I guess if you dont have an AppleTV+ subscription and you were interested in seeing the movie you'd go to the cinema but I always think that many movies... Marvel ones in particular moan about diminishing box office returns and yet they put them on a streaming service within 10-12 weeks of theatrical release and wonder why people are happy to wait.

For example, for every extra million subscribers are attracted to AppleTV+, that's an extra $120 million dollars in revenue per year to apple.

I’ve always understood that more subs = extra revenue, but those huge numbers really puts it in perspective.

You know.. in that role he is not Brad Pitt..
But you are right anyway as he can try as hard as he wants and will still look ten times better than Robert Redford ever did

Box office returns are also typically split between studios and exhibitors, with studios often receiving around 50% of domestic ticket revenue and a smaller share internationally. As a result, it is unlikely that F1 has yet recouped its full investment from theatrical ticket sales alone.

And this is supposed to exciting and good news?

These mega movies with insane budgets are so strange. It has to be carpet bomb advertised worldwide and be a MEGA SMASH to hopefully "break even" and maybe make a little bit.
