Would be nice if there was an easy way for international travelers to buy this before they fly, ideally at local Apple Store (physical and/or online), or even if only in duty free airport shops. For example, I’m based in US and flying to Europe in a few months - I’d gladly purchase this before my trip, but there’s no easy way to do so in the US.

Apple should have just released a cleaner GaN 60w charger which would rarely need to throttle down because of heat. Instead for whatever reason they released this silicon 40w ‘dynamic charger’ which bursts up to 60w.

All iPhones including the 17 charge totally fine (and fast) with regular PD 3.1 chargers.
I know but why use a 60W charger which will only supply 27W to an iPhone when you can use a 40W charger which can charge the iPhone up to 60W by bursts without overheating? Granted going from 30 minutes to 20 minutes for a 50% charge isn't Earth shattering but other wattages will become available in time. If you get a PD 3.1 compatible device today (iPhone or charger) you're stuck with whatever output is supported from factory.

"40W Dynamic Power Adapter is the same size as Apple's 20W charger"

Really? The UK version of the 40W dynamic charger is noticeably fatter than the 20W version.

Are other countries versions really the same size?

I'm not paying 3.5 times the price to save a few minutes here and there. Apple chargers are good, but also very expensive. In time all chargers will support the new 3.2 protocol. I'm fine waiting.

Agree. At least make them available online. I can see they might not want to stock then in their brick & mortar stores.
