Apple's 80% Charging Limit for iPhone: How Much Did It Help After a Year?

Charge limit to 80% since day one. I occasionally activate 95% or even 100% when needed (maybe 5-10 days a year).

Mine is a 16 Pro with First use Sept 2024 at 100% and 188 charge cycles.

For me and my usage, yep. It's a no-brainer. Full-time charge limits are not for everyone: Apple made it optional, opt-in feature so users can choose. We all use our phones differently.

I bought the PM for its larger screen + better battery life + slightly better thermals; might as well take advantage of the bigger battery. Since launch, I end the day with 20% to 50% battery left, meaning I only used 30% to 60% of the battery per day.

I won't gnash my teeth once it finally drops below 100%: that's expected over 2-3 years of usage.

16PM just dropped to 98% after 220 cycles in 14 months. Charge limit has been 80% since day 1; it’s now off as I’m in ****-it mode.

I was in that mode day1 lol
First use was October 2023 and now in Feb 2026 it’s at 81% on my 15 Pro.
