My iPhone 15 Pro Max is at 90% of battery capacity after 708 cycles. My battery is in phenomenal shape for two years old. The new operating system gives me an opportunity to set my charging level so I upped it to 85%, which should still give me the same level of goodness.
My 15PM is 97% after 180 cycles. Currently set to 80% but did have it on 85% for quite a while.

Having my iPad mini means I am probably using the 15PM a bit less when I am out - but the hotspot is on a lot of the time as my iPad is wifi only.

Adding: Initially I used USB but, for a long time now, I use a no-name night-stand magsafe charger. And I plonk it on almost every night because I simply don't, or can't be bothered to, think about skipping a night. The odd time I might have not charged always seems to be been before a day I'll be out and about using it a lot.

I virtually never charge in car despite using it as satnav. Simply no need with a full charge in the morning - and I do not have a magsafe car charger.

My launch day 16 PM still reports 100% health even on iOS 26 (used that since B1). I never use optimised charging, never used a charging limit, always charge to 100% overnight while I sleep, and I always charge via MagSafe, the current 25W one.

This iPhone has never been charged with a cable plugged in.

All this optmised battery saving stuff is a waste of time to be honest as it makes sod all difference.

My launch day iPhone 15 Pro is at 96% battery after 342 cycles. It only started to degrade below 100% when I hit around 280 cycles, so degradation seems to be accelerating.

iPhone 14 Pro - 259 cycles - 96%

I charge by plopping it on a MagSafe charger at 20W overnight. No limit on charging level.

This is an enlightening thread!

That’s insane. I have a iPhone 14 Pro and I have had to replace the battery replaced and I am still experiencing bad battery life on my iPhone 14 Pro. Have I just been unlucky?

I have had to recharge my phone at least once every day - see my post below
Getting the iPhone 17 Pro Max - donno why, but my Day One iPhone 14 Pro has terrible battery life and I had to get its battery replaced and even after replacing the battery, I can only keep it for around 1/2 of the day without need to re-charge it.

That is why I am getting the iPhone 17 PM - hopefully I can keep this thing with me without constantly worrying about recharging it throughout the day.

FYI, here is my battery health on my current iPhone 14 Pro, on which I had the battery replaced at an Apple Store:

The battery was replaced just last year too and it is already down to 86%??!?!

iPhone 13 Pro Max - 191 cycles - 102.9% - Original Battery

Charged via slow USB most of the time and try to keep between 80-30%. Not a real heavy phone user so it's easy to keep in the sweet spot.

iPhone 16 Pro Max, about to be 1YR old. I have the charging limit set to 80%. I use Apple 20W charger. I am Cycle Count: 346 Battery Capacity: 99%

I turned the charging limit off. It would be fine to have on when I’m home but unacceptable at work. I’m a first responder and work 72 hour shifts. I may not see a charger for more than 24 hours or more ant an time and I do need my phone on duty.
It’s wild that Apple hasn’t incorporated charging limits into Focus modes, which I use for work, home and sleep but what do I know?
Also 15 pro, 209 cycles, 100%, 11 months of use since activation. I do have optimized charging on but this feature has screwed me over at work and I’m tempted to turn it off. We’re not quite where I’d like to be with machine learning.

I only have Optimized Charging on. And I always charge to 100%. Though I rarely (if ever) drop below 30%.

So last month on my 13PM with over 200 cycles, it said battery health was 84%. I then checked it a couple of days ago and it's at 85% health. Hmm.

Regardless I find this acceptable for a phone released 4 years ago. Most of the time it is either on Magsafe or a Samsung wireless charging pad. Hardly ever plug it in any longer.

I just used the self regulating charging at 100% and I am 99% in one year from launch on my 16pro max. I really seemed to keep the phone between 50-80% most of the time, maybe that helps. My average screen time is pretty high, and I have mobile games or youtube running in the background a lot.

My previous phones have easily lost 10% in 1 year, my 15 pro did. The mini was worse.

I suspect having such a large battery, and not having to constantly charge helps.

iPhone 15 that I've had for 1.5 years. Had either 80% or 85% charge limit on the entire time I've owned it. Depending on the day I typically still have between 30-60% remaining. Still 100% after 218 cycles.

Still 100% with 190 cycles and 1 year of ownership on a 16 Pro Max. 80% charge limit since day 1 with an occasional full cycle to calibrate everything.

My 15 Pro which is now a little over a year old (First use July 2024 and Manufactured Feb 2024) is at 100% with 237 Cycle Count (Which probably will now increase as IOS 26 battery is noticably worse) with 85% charging limit since day one.

I used to have more than enough battery until IOS 26 but now I do charge it in the evening so it doesn't go below 25% (it probably has gone once or twice below 20% on longer days without a charger)

EDIT:

Also wanted to add that I never game on my phone, mostly just watching youtube, listening podcasts & music, checking the news and the normal texting & calling.

Question: Do you have AI turned on or turned off on your phone? I’m trying to get a feel for whether it has any impact on battery life with iOS 26 installed. But perhaps it’s iOS 26 still doing its behind-the-scenes indexing thing if it hasn’t been long since ypu updated.

Yeah, I do have Apple Intelligence enabled (I am in Europe so some stuff is probably missing) and I installed IOS 26 on release, so I doubt that it's still indexing, though not sure how long that even takes usually but it's been some time.
