The supply chain constrains are critical, all products are affected, from chips, to luxury watches, to toilet paper, to food. The world is reached a tipping point. Nothing good is coming… except new Macs! ;)
I want a 27inches iMac with M1!!!. Consumism?, nah, I need my electronics refreshed every year to feel happy.

I ordered some electronic devices from China back in August and still haven't receive it today. The seller shipped it via fastest/expensive UPS deliver method and needs to route thru Hong Kong. The logistic told the seller, UPS in all China area is a mess now. Flights were cut down to 1/3 of normal volume so basically all parcels will take extra long delay to pass thru. It's unbelievable that Apple can move millions of iPhones 13 during these world-wide shipping crisis and delivered them on time
We have computers and monitors (not Apple products) that we ordered in May that aren't expected to ship until December (or later). Supply chains are beyond screwed up right now.

Given the availability of card readers which can handle both standards at a few pounds, and some cameras even support both CD and CF, would it be too much to hope Apple would support SD and CF?

(Obvious answer, is that it probably is too much to expect but not too much to hope for.)

Which CF, though? A for the sony folks, or B for the Nikon/Canon folks? Both? The Sony cameras have very cool slots that accept either CF A or SD, and I’d be up for that :)

I'm so looking forward to the return of MagSafe. Already broken two USB-C cables during one year. The connectors are so fragile. It's a real headache if you use and charge the laptop in cafes or any other location than your desk. Sure, the old charger cables broke sometimes, but usually only after countless accidents.
But it’s much easier to replace a USB C cable with a sturdier version, as long as it isn’t hardwired to the charger. There are some very good 3rd party products available.

In contrast, I am always wary of the day when my proprietary Apple Connector cables and chargers break. I just find their prices vs cable quality severely unbalanced.

I hope that even if MagSafe makes some sort of return, you can still charge via the USB-C ports.
I'd like that too - put in a proper MagSafe port, like we used to have, and have all the USB-C ports and allow charging through them. More versatility, but we get back a safer connection for normal use.

I'd rather have an ethernet jack than HDMI, but I won't argue too much with that (on an older work MBP, I find mini-DisplayPort works way better than HDMI for running in clamshell mode - one has to speak the incantations properly and sacrifice a goat, when waking the system, or HDMI will negotiate a weird unusable mode with the monitor, while DisplayPort Just Works™).

I'll end up using the SD slot for flashing MicroSD cards for Raspberry Pi's.

I love the option of having USB-C to charge, but I totally agree that the connectors are fragile. Looking forward to the return of MagSafe.

My guess is either the power consumption will be lower on the new MBP’s, or they are transitioning to GaN technology for the power adapter. Or both.

Sounds really familiar. I ended up buying a third-party magsafe solution, which helps a little, but still leaves the other end of the cable vulnerable. That connector is already slightly bent and I'm just waiting for the moment it will also break.
I actually did that! Not for my Macs, but for my Surface Pro. I wasn't entirely sure I trusted them and figured I'd rather short out/destroy the Surface Pro than my MBP. I can't decide if I hate the Surface Connect charger or USB-C more, though considering I swapped from SC to USB-C, then to a third-party MageSafe-like solution on the SP, maybe I just hate the Surface Pro. I don't even have the energy in me to sell the stupid thing, it just sits there collecting dust.

I've been looking into them for the MBP--sort of--but so far things have been looking good on the MBP USB-C front and I haven't found a brand I'm completely comfortable with.

Probably in a few months when I head out of state I'll grab some.

I'm actually using my Surface Pro right now!

Its own charging connector seems quite good. Until you realise that quite often although apparently physically connected, it isn't charging. The other day, it pancaked because I left it on overnight but it wasn't charging. So I used USB-C to recharge it. That has been 100% - so far. And it is charging with exactly the same connector/charger that didn't charge it the other day.

It is the older version where you can't see the little light when using it but have to move your head to the right.

The SC charger was too fiddly for me, it would often go in at an angle and I would have to pull it out and put it back in again at least three times and then the magnet wasn't particularly strong when it was in there the correct way that if I adjusted how I was using it in my lap, I'd have to...once again...put the charger back on. So I made the switch to USB-C, grabbed a couple of those magnetic inserts, and things were going fine.

My mother in law has a MBA and she falls asleep sitting up so it slides off a lot. She's broken SO MANY USB-C cables--never the port--so we gave her the extra magnetic inserts but after awhile ( a few weeks ) she had started having problems with one. I don't remember what they were doing but I remember being concerned enough to just get her a stronger USB-C cable.

I've still never disliked a device more than the SP7.

I had work ordered a few of the 96W and 61W USB-C power adapters. Besides the shipping delay on the 96W model, the 61W one is now listed as unavailable on the consumer store.

Even the 30W adapter is facing a 3-week delay. The MOSFET and MLCC shortage is no joke.
