sacrificing 25% battery capacity to thin it down and make it lighter for a device that sits on a fixed surface for 99% of the users
Interesting... are you new to the Apple world? Apple software is mostly amazing in comparison to competing software, but under Timmy, Apple hardware has gone downhill significantly and at the same time increased in price dramatically. Tim is operating for profit, not innovation. Steve Jobs has said again and again that the profit will come if you operate on innovation, quality and simplicity. I'm not trying to troll, I'm just trying to be the voice of many frustrated Apple fans.
Interesting. You got suck into Darth Timmy terrible reality distortion field for the MacBook Pros, Apple Watch, and AirPods. Timmy never quantified anything. He recently use "Sales are off the Chart". Well, this will be true if they sold 1 item where the chart only goes to zero. Historically Timmy has never publish actual numbers if sales were not drool worthy. But notice he does put out actually numbers if sales are awesome.
In light of all the excitement around Airpods, this is an excellent article with former Apple engineer on Siri, Airpods, AI, etc.

Amen.Edit: And as far as Photos go, maybe they should actually do something about families because their current "family share" features are a complete joke.
O
1, the 7 not compatible with the new MacBook Pro without a new single, great design, it's also not compatible with 99% of the populations preffered headphones.
2, MacBook Pros, have limited connectivity, exploding speakers, broken graphics rendering, diminished batterlife and a £400 premium for a touch bar. And it was a secondary design they didn't want to produce but couldn't get their **** together to produce their flagship device.
3, That's what happens when you have a second gen device, which is 'superior' to the 1st gen
4, they have 5hour battery life and you have can only use Siri with the compromise of other feature
5, subscription services are not an apple innovation it's standard business model for online business. They have consumers locked into their ecosystem.
I appreciate Apple's effort, but I personally think Google is eating Apple's lunch here...
Exactly. This is why MacRumors is becoming unreadable as of late. These are the kinds of comments who's member I instantly add to my ignore list:
I must have hundreds on my list by now. MacRumors needs its own AI to weed out these kinds of comment trolls.
Ok, what? You mean like Apple spent more time on describing the new iMessage at WWDC than any other feature for iOS10? Clearly highlighting emoji as the flagship feature for iOS10? Oh, and lets not forget, they were too busy with emoji to realize they have a horrible battery bug in iOS10? I mean, using Apple's built in flashlight app shouldn't drain 10% of my battery for 4 minutes of use should it?
Or maybe just NOT SAY ANYTHING if you don't have anything useful and constructive to say. You are not here to contribute to the conversation, apparently, you're here as a griefer to ruin the experience for others. When there's something of quality to write about, I'll write about it.
Until then, release joke products, receive joke replies.
Amacfa, I blame you for the mess in this thread. I say this in jest but your post gaslit these goobers, on both sides btw, by blowing that "complain about complainers" dog whistle. @Porco said the same thing I said to you earlier. Contribute topically. Engaging moronic posts with equally stupid retorts only succeeds in creating the idiocy we see in this thread. If you see doofus off topic quotes, just ask the poster to contribute to the topic. After a while, they will.Bunch of sad half witty replies fishing for likes. Try to post some quality discussion next time guys
To be fair, the AI scientists can't really help with other areas. Unlike Mac engineers reportedly being taken from desktops to work on laptops, there's no overlap in responsibility.Honestly I'd rather Apple were concentrating on other things than this. I don't deny it could produce useful results, it's just not something that excites me very much. As with other areas like maps where they are 'reinventing the wheel', I don't know whether it'd be better to just leave it to Google or whoever and concentrate more on updating widely-used apps and hardware. Because they arguably need to.
This. Everyone seems to forget this. If you want the comments topical, you at least have to make the effort yourself. Like leading a horse to water... and if they don't drink, shoot 'em in the head and make glue. And at least offer your own opinion on-topic maybe so the whiff of hypocrisy isn't quite so pungent. Just saying.
No, there wasn't. Go read the archives of old MR articles. Just normal discussions. Heck most 'incidents' from Apple products didn't even get articles then.It may be because Apple is shipping more and more crap each year and people are bitter and fed up.
There were always trolls and fanboys here. Its the fanboys that are more and more ironic. Blame Apple.
No, they won't. When someone's raison d'être here is to be a griefer, expecting that they will eventually contribute something useful is foolish. Calling them out is often less helpful than ignoring them, but they've gotten pretty d*mn hard to ignore lately - it's like trying to have a intelligent conversation after someone has handed out a truckload of bullhorns to 8 year olds.If you see doofus off topic quotes, just ask the poster to contribute to the topic. After a while, they will.

In a perfect world, the complainers would create their own thread to moan to their hearts content. That echo chamber would soon become boring. The complain about complainers would create their own separate thread as well, to howl at the moon in ironic ignorance. They could cross over into each others threads and work themselves into a self righteous lather. At some point they'd realize they are just opposite sides of the same dumbass coin. The rest of us could enjoy the site, blissfully unaware.

No. But I think the idea here is to make robots to build iPhones. Then they can say made in USA without hiring any people.
If that happens, Trump will be pissed...No. But I think the idea here is to make robots to build iPhones. Then they can say made in USA without hiring any people.
That's all I see here anymore...a race to critique Apple for making thin devices, requiring dongles and make fun of Siri. Oh and everyone gets bonus points for using the word "courage" in any post. Pathetic commenters.
Apples been working on AI for years now and parts of their AI research is further along then Google's .. What is your complaint?Something tells me that Apple is not as serious in their AI efforts as they should be or at least the way the others are. Or it may be because they were so late in the game that they are still crawling. It's interesting to see how Tim Cook's Apple work compared to the reign of Jobs. I suspect that the responsible executive team fully realised AI's importance only after Alexa, even if they were almost first in the game. It's like "Give me something before the next earnings call."
"We at Apple deeply care about AI", "We are working on great Macs", "We deeply care about Siri (since 2013)". And then no result. I have not so much hope in their road map anymore.
Some parts of Apple's AI program is further along then Googles... They been working on AI for years. What are you talking about lol?Apple needs to actually start doing some real work in the AI space.. Google is absolutely crushing them here and before you know it, Apple will be just getting started while everyone else is on to the next generation of AI ..
Apple ... You have endless resources financially.. Time to start using some of that money to start innovating!!
No offense, but the reason why this "doesn't excite you very much" is because you don't seem to know much about it. What you've seen so far on your devices is just the beginning, it won't be long until it will transform the way people use their smartphones and computers. Apple really does not want to miss that train.Honestly I'd rather Apple were concentrating on other things than this. I don't deny it could produce useful results, it's just not something that excites me very much.
