if only these competitors didn't make such butt-ugly products...

Jabra's elite 65t look WAY better in your ear than airpods. Apple's Airpods only make you look like an AirHole.

I have the Jabra’s. They fail miserably in one area: the charging case. It’s not magnetic. Hard to open. And the ear buds fall out.

If they make a magnetized case, it’d win hands down (minus the W-1, which they can’t do anything about).

AirPods are a horrible product. Steve would **** on them. They make people wearing them look like morons with tampons out their ears.

Case can be hard to open, but I have not had any other problems with the case. At least the case will not open accidentally when tossed around in a commuter bag.

These head phones are awesome. But yes w1 chip is better for the fact that you do not need to re pair the headphones (on apple devices), But in Jabra's defense you can pair them to 2 devices at once (but not the watch when iPhone is paired) so I rarely need to do this. (when I connect them to my switch, my 3rd device, then I need to do this and its annoying)

Quote: [T]he Elite 65t look like a "normal" pair of headphones...

In other words, it doesn't look like you have Q-Tips sticking out of your ears. Or perhaps a pair of dangly earrings. :D

Still think: no matter if they are good or not (and I think NOT; they sound like crap) every person I see wearing them looks like an (insert insult here)!

So you really think you look good on your AirPods.

yea, i don't look like that) so to answer your question - yes. :)

some things we will never agree upon)

Are you kidding me? Not a single mention of one of the 65t's major features - Noise cancellation. The AirPods don't even come close to comparing to the Jabras and they sound ****** to boot. You're either very biased and writing a desperate hit piece on Apple's behalf (imagine that) or you're something I'm too polite to suggest.

You’ve obviously not heard the AirPods.

When it comes to comfort the airpods win? The author must have large ear canals. Personally the airpods hurt my ears, I have a pair of the 65ts and they're vastly more comfortable - also they stay in better

You lost me at Alexa.

You don't have to use Alexa, mine are set to use Siri

Ok, you wear ear aides, like me, my new ones that allows me to use also AirPods :

https://www.starkey.com/hearing-aids/invisible-hearing-aids

I am n process to test them, the setup is not perfect yet.

They does solve the iPhone connection, they are not visible, which is better than I thought and we can use AirPods... no Larsen effect despite the proximity.
Thanks.... I used the UK site and found the Invisible IIc you mention. Looks like there are only suitable for mild to moderate hearing loss so not suitable for me.
However, I would be interested to hear how you got on with them.

The wife and I were just commenting the other day about how people who wear these (especially the AirPods), look a little foolish. They really ain’t flattering and just look like some bad ear piercings.
I call them DB.

Good to hear the Jabras are better. I bought them just because they were on sale for a great price. The Airpods aren't even a consideration for me because they look like ear tampons.

I have both the AirPods and the Jabra Elite 65T. They both fill different purposes for me.
AirPods are simply more convenient and I use them day-to-day more than the Jabras. Sound quality is good, but they are basically useless in almost any public setting -- the lack of sound isolation makes them hard to hear in any environment with noise.

The Elite 65T has its quirks. The case is not very good (awful latch and doesn't use magnets to hold the buds in place), and they take a bit of time to adjust in your ear to make a proper seal. But once they're in your ears and setup properly, they blow the AirPods away in sound quality and isolation. They are perfect for the gym. Plus the have BT 5.0 so the range is ridiculous. I shower with them in... is a glorious feeling. They were on sale for $105 over the XMAS stretch and to me they're worth every penny.

I'm about as big as an Apple fanboy as you can get but have no bought the Airpods for two reasons. One, I just can't get the aesthetics. Obvioulsy just a personal deal and I have absolutely nothing against those that prefer it and use them. We all have our own style. But the main reason was isolation. I have the Active version of the Jabra's as my main use is working out and I need the sound isolation. They have the flexibility if you are using them while walking, running or biking you can have outside sound piped in for safety, the Airpods don't have that flexibilty.

AirPods have literally no isolation. You can carry a full conversation with them on.

You pulled that sentence out of context. The point is that the Jabras have the added flexibility of Hear Through technology for earbuds that, desirously so, provide sound isolation their owners prefer.

Flexibility is irrelevant if the implementation is poor. The "Hear Through" feature in the Jabras is garbage. I hid that option from the settings.

If one was walking, running or biking, and are looking for "safety", they're better off with the AirPods.

Just stop. You aren't adding anything to the conversation.

On the Jabra Elite 65 -- another note:
The controls are also pretty bad. They're really cheap feeling, but what's worse is how you activate the buttons. You have to press-in, which basically pushes the earbud further into your ear. Imagine a suction cup against your eardrums.

It's a really sub-par experience.

Hopefully Jabra comes up with a better solution.

Just saw this vid:

To be honest he was probably paid some money to promote them.

I have to heavily disagree with this review. Although the W1 chip provided a greater range & better connection for the airpods. Jabra has the airpods beat since you can have 2 devices connected simulataneously and the audio will switch to whichever is playing the content. This along with better customizable ear fit (at least for me), made me return the airpods and get the Jabra's
Honestly, I don't think the W1 did much at all in comparison to another off the shelf Bluetooth chip. It's just apple taking a bluetooth chip and sticking W1 on it. I didn't see any benefit. Range was the same as my Bose soundsport and I can connect to two devices at the same time with the Bose. Not with the powerbeats 3.

All marketing :)

I’m now intrigued by the Jabras. I have Air Pids, Bose Soundsports. I use the air pods exclusively when I’m not in the gym. They just felt to slick in the gym and would fall out doing certain movements. The Bose are great for working out but stick out too much and can be fickle at times with their operation. Sometimes the left bud disconnects or has trouble connecting.

Do you have the Bose Soundpsorts Free?

Yes I do. Just got the Jabras yesterday. So far I really like them. The Soundsports sound great and fit well but can be awkward at times the way they stick out of your ears.

Can I ask how you know that? I’ve been watching quite a few of his vids and that didn’t cross my mind. Has he got a reputation for this?

Look at anyone on YouTube, Instagram. When you reach a certain audience (millions) you will be paid to promote.

That's the internet nowadays.

That's great! I think these type of earphones are the future but I want some with noise cancelling. When Bose make these, I will buy! :)

Ah ok, so there’s no real proof except the assumption that a lot of the people doing well through Youtube often take payment for promotions.

Not having a go, just genuinely interested as I watch a lot of his videos.

Toothbrushes and door locks are closer to the purpose that Bluetooth was designed for: data acquisition and transfer that did not require that information be transmitted in any form of real time. Sound definitely does not fit THAT definition, unless you are willing to buffer and re-time sync it before playing. Hence the out of sync audio problems people have when watching video. There's nothing to keep it tightly connected to the timeline of the video, it wasn't MEANT to be an audio channel. Can it be morphed to be one? Yes, but probably not while retaining backward compatibility with older bluetooth devices.

You hit the nail on the head. Bluetooth is supposed to be a serial cable minus the cable. It fails at even that.

Way past time to scrap every single awful layer of kludges hacked on over the decades and start over.

If you have more than 1 Mac or iOS device, the seamless switching can't be beat.

The 65t's can be connected to 2 devices at once, but I can seamlessly switch between my iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch or my Macs with a tap of a button. Haven't seen this kind of congruency with other bluetooth products yet.
