make it autofocus and I’m in

Some older Canon SLR film cameras had eye tracking in the viewfinder to select the AF point.

I wonder if the LCD/OLED polarizer layer could be adjustable through a control on the frame or on iPhone to change the lens from clear to dark, like those high tech conference room windows.

Eyeglasses are fashion and look different depending on the face. I am curious how people will feel wearing the exact same eyeglasses as everyone else. Even if they have 20 frames, that's not much selection...

the same can be said for watches cant it?

As an example...AR-assisted surgery has been in use for a few years now.

When performing a complex surgery, a surgeon can augment his/her procedure with the ability to call up, in real-time, reference material, diagrams/photos that can "peel back" showing layered information, previously produced scans/Xrays, patient medical charts, real-time patient vital signs information, etc, or even consult with another more senior surgeon for guidance (in the OR or elsewhere). All while (s)he is concentrating on the surgical procedure, without looking away.

That's just one example. There's a ton of AR potential.

I agree. Another no-brainers would be things like giving you directions like HUDs, showing distance/depth like the measurement app on iOS. Would be very cool if (prob years from now) it can detect items and give you brief descriptions of what you are looking at (ie some of those cool concepts from Microsoft Future Vision)

The greatest benefit to AR glasses (and technically even just HUD glasses) is we can go back to small phones!
Ok maybe not greatest, but definitely great.

It will turn you into Asterix

The Roman Spy HCL (for short) was one of my favourite puns reading these (in French) as a teen.

Thanks I'll watch this later, SM Speedrun was the first I'd ever seen and opened my eyes to a whole world of gaming I had never considered.

Edit: Couldn't watch a male Samus, it's sad the animator must not know any woman to do that voice acting.

Jony Ive probably had the glasses molded to fit his own face, just like he had the original AirPods molded to fit his own ears and said screw everyone else. His life mission is to impose his own personal preferences on everyone and everything.

If Apple does make a car:
All seats will be permanently molded to fit Ive's own body.
All interior layouts will be designed around Ive's own body measurements.
Battery will be glued to the car. :D

Next will be a fertility clinic staffed by Ive himself, to make sure that prospective mothers receive only samples approved by him (i.e. his own). :p

I’m sure some people will love these and find them useful. But I, for once, cannot see myself wearing those. I use prescription glasses since I was 4, so I’m perfectly used to wear them all day, but this seems just way too Sci-Fi. Google has tried with smart glasses and ended up canning them because people were not really receptive to that (also they didn’t work that well as far as I can remember). I’m sure Apple will design something completely different and more refined, something more people will want (Apple is one of the few companies that is able to create a product and make you want it even thoughtful don’t need it), but I still can’t see the appeal of walking around with a pair of glasses with a camera.
Again this is just my opinion, and I’m sure some will agree and some will disagree.

Google Glass failed because it had a camera. People were worried about privacy breaches and being filmed without their consent. So Apple Glass will probably come without a camera, but with two displays that are actually useful. We will have to re-evaluate our opinions once we really know what they do, anyway :)

right...
That’s why people don’t splurge on the thousands of watch varieties from the cheap ones all the way to the 5/6-figure ones..

Wrong answer. That is not the point of my first post. Re-read it. Have a nice day.

Notification bombs. Imagine how annoying it would be to get these pop-ups right in ur face.

I still don’t really understand what these glasses will do for people.

I’ve seen the social networking possibilities and honestly it’s disturbing. One obvious use, which probably won’t happen because it’s creepy, is using them as a camera. Maybe watching video on them would work out well? I guess that would somewhat depend on the pixel density/quality. I’ve seen images everywhere of them showing GPS and directions. That’s interesting but not much of a selling point...
Agreed. What will it actually help people with? Your phone is still needed to obtain all the info and navigation. Don't tell me you need to swipe the glass frame to navigate. Thats awkward

Hey Siri, show what's right in front of me!
Which could be nice for the visually impaired, you know - some sort of picture description via bone-conducting sound so it‘s only for the user. But since Apple Glass won‘t feature a camera for now, it‘s wishful thinking!

But looking right trough it will still be possible? ...for the visually not so impaired, i mean.
Of course since it‘s still glass. I wonder how the thing works with prescription glasses, is it just a display layer in the glass which doesn‘t affect the bending of light? Anyways it‘s cool tech for the next years!

...and i wonder how this will further increase the number of fatal traffic accidents, caused by people not noticing what's happening around them at all while i.e. driving a car. I hope there will be very strict law-adjustments and examples beeing made for the first incidents.

Well, I hope that there will be very strict law-adjustments and examples being made as well for:

- immensely loud radio
- touchscreens in cars, be it on the dashboard or smartphone
- looking at the watch on your wrist
- talking to someone in the same car, and so on...

Fact is that we already have DND in the car, and there‘s no telling that notifications would be any more obstrusive than on your phone, on your CarPlay dashboard or on your wrist. Let‘s be honest people: Everyone looks at notifications, and if it‘s right in your face regardless of where you look, chances are that you at least aren‘t taking your eyes off the road.

The difference ist that the fact you have to grab your phone, unlock it or at least intentionally look at it gives you a second to think. This will be gone if it's right in front of your eyes all the time.

And that‘s a second that your eyes are off the road. I‘m not really convinced that we‘ll see a complete notification with full preview flying in, Apple is aware of drivers and other circumstances that require full focus.

And that‘s a second that your eyes are off the road.
...where they are too while you are reading something on your glasses! Or how should this change the fact that you can really concentrate your mind or even focus your eyes at no more than one thing at a time. There's one thing you should do while driving: driving! Or how you do you tell the mom of the child you killed reading that notification how "important" that was for your job or anything?

There is a thing called peripheral vision, and I don‘t buy it for a second that, right now, people are fully paying attention to the road all the times.
The advent of touchscreens in the car isn‘t helping there either, instead of having knobs one can handle blindly. On a touchscreen, you have to look on it for anything every time because of the missing haptic feedback. And don‘t get me started on people who actually use their phones in their hands or lap while driving - where‘s the uproar there?

Subtle notifications in your vision would be as distracting as seeing your windshield wiper doing its work. Nobody ever caused an accident because of it wiping away raindrops, right? So let‘s give it the benefit of the doubt for now as we don‘t know anything about the UI. If it‘s a notification fest like a free Android app-advertisement party, I‘m fully on board with you: Unnecessary and distracting. But crying wolf and arguing about dead children and their moms isn‘t helping going us anywhere right now.

The "benefit" of this kind of abuse is, that it is at least clearly visible to nearby law enforcement authorities to see, where one’s attention goes to.

But crying wolf and arguing about dead children and their moms isn‘t helping going us anywhere right now.
The difference might be your windshield whiper not telling you about some meeting or asking when you will be home for lunch. Attention is the magic word here too.

You might call it "crying wolf" but i really do not want to know the worldwide cellphone-bodycount up to now. And i have strong doubt this (or any) glass changing the situation to any better.

They use clips from movies and games, I'm guessing you were bothered by the voice at the beginning where she rips the ship's console, it's a clip from Picard in Star Trek: First Contact. They also use a clip of Samus Aran herself from Metroid: Other M, because of this meme.
