You guys sound really old.

Beats cater to an entirely different market. It's for young adults, teens, kids, athletes, and anyone making a statement. Not everything has to be black, silver, and low key.

Ever watch NBA warm ups? Those guys are wearing them and the kids follow up. Have you seen Nike shoes lately?

Again, Apple knows what they're doing.

Apple: "New Beats products!"

Me: "Awesome. Charges with a USB-C cable, right?"

Apple: "Er, no."

Me: "Ok, Lightning port at least then, right?"

Apple: "Uh, nope. It's still micro-USB. Wanna try it?"

(crickets)

Yes it charges with the most popular USB connector is use today. The odds of someone else having a micro USB cable in their home is about 100%, USB C closer to 1%.

Considering the rest of the Apple hardware lineup is either Thunderbolt/USB-C or Lightning, these Beats remains the bastard child of their product line.

If they can release Beats X, AirPods, and the PowerBeats Pro with female Lightning ports, there's no excuse to keep the Studios and Solos with micro-USB.

It's gunna take a lot of headphone sales to recoup that $3 Billiion purchase price
They’ve already recouped that awhile back. It’s been quite a valuable purchase considering the market leading headphones AND Apple Music came out of it.

I’m guessing sometime later this year or next, the line will be updated with the H1 with charing for the battery, power for the internal amp, and audio being provided via USBC on some models.

I like them but I think there are enough variants of Solo3 now. The yellow ones are nice but I didn’t like the blue inside.

I understand that they don’t update the internals as long as they call them Solo3. Hopefully they make some Solo4 soon with lightning or USB-C and H1 chipset. I have the silver/white ones but find myself using only my AirPods all the time.

Right now I am waiting for availability of the Powerbeats Pro in my country (Sweden, so yellow and blue Solo3 would be ok I guess)

It’s because Beats are very popular among non Apple costumers also.

Oh, you mean the NBA games that are down 20 and 30% in viewership recently. Maybe if NBA players concentrated more on the game rather than looking cool people might be interested.

One of the reasons I'm not an Apple fanboy anymore. It's just embarrassing!
There is absolutely nothing embarrassing about this. Beats has always cycled out the colors and used multiple design partnerships. They aren’t just headphones but also fashion accessories. It’s actually good to see Apple hasn’t tried to change what makes Beats appeal to their core consumer base. One of the main contributors to their early success was the way athletes and recording artists endorsed them on and off camera. I know so many people like myself who own both airpods and at least 1 pair of Beats headphones.

The NBA is THE most followed sport on social media (young audience) and is quickly becoming a worldwide phenomenon. The NBA Finals games are down because a Canadian team there (still good for other market growth), people are tired of the Warriors, and there is no Lebron.

Worldwide, the NBA has never been stronger. They are exploding in China.

Looking at any one series versus another is a fool's errand as you have ebbs and flows of rivalries and certain player interest. Over the entire season, the NBA has been very strong.

Okay let's help you out a little here... NBA, NHL, NFL, MLB, MLS, college teams, high school teams.. the list goes on. Just because you have such refined taste and find these objectionable doesn't mean there aren't hundreds of millions of people lacking your great taste that these would appeal to. I guess many posters here can huff and puff while Apple makes some great bank on these.

I personally love the yellow set.

But these things really need to give more for the price point. The pairing was once a draw, but the quality, sound, and feature set of other headsets outpaces these by a long shot. we need true refresh of the beats lineup or a price slash imo
