More desperation from Apple. We are self-proclaimed cool, and doesn't that make you want to spend money? My consumer response: no. All I have to do is listen to Beats 1 for about 15 min. I have no interest in paying for that crap.

When did guys in jeans suddenly need to primly cross their legs? If they were doing a full on Al Bundy and massaging themselves, I'd get it, but if the picture with this article has you bothered I think it says more about you than them.

It's culture of people that have been raised thinking they are special and everything no matter how small should be made into an issue of epic proportions if it somehow bothers them. It's a "generation" of me-first spoiled brats who've never had a single big problem in their life.

5-6 years ago i would be exited about an announcement like this- now- WHO CARES!
Apple tv is so far behind- yes i have 2 4's and imho apple missed the boat on anything tv.
When this article says "hard working on this" i envision jonny ives foundling his red iphone 7 with beats headphones on-lol
APPLE WILL NEVER CATCH UP OR HAVE ANY LEGITIMATE TV SUCH AS SLING, NETFLIX, ETC -
ESPECIALLY UNDER COOK
ITUNES -APPPLE TV -all stagnant under cook
I think the problem with the current Apple TV is the price, especially for people outside the US. £140 for something that does basically the same as the old one, and no more than £50 rivals, just seems such a ripoff!

That leads to not enough people buying them, which leads to not enough support from the TV Networks - only one of the big three networks in the UK has an app on Apple TV, and it doesn't interstate with Siri (which also doesn't work or Netflix here).

God beep there is nothing to figure out

Music = play button and a wide catalogue
Tv = a remote YES A REMOTE and being able to watch the content i want to see whenever i want to see it
Social = back off trying to tell me what i "may like" to see and just show everything in a chronological order

All this "big data" curated crap needs to die off. You actually get thrown into one category and miss out on things you like.

Instagram for example, you like one picture of a friend working out. All of the sudden my feed is full of guys with abs and detox tea posts!

You don't have to, Beats 1 is free.

I think services suggesting which music you might like is a great idea. I'm tired of finding songs I love by chance, and sometimes going weeks without any music I really love because this album is old or that single has been over listened to...

Why aren't they working on getting the basics right, before working on "something very special"?

The most fundament things like changing the order of songs in your playlists or shared-playlists are still missing.
Not to mention all the bugs that drive me crazy.

I'd rather have a decent music streaming platform than a new MTV.

You must be aware that you can download content to your phone and not stream it?

Honestly, I'm in a similar position - if I stream all my music that's my data gone pretty fast. So when the New Music Match playlist arrives I can download it via WiFi at home, and then it'll play on my commute without using any data. Same with all the songs I've added to my library.

Plus there are a few places on my commute with no signal, and this means my music isn't interrupted.

I am completely aware that you can download music for offline. The problem is that if I am going to stream, it's for discovery. How can I download the music ahead of time if I don't know what I want to listen to?

I want to be able to say "curate me a playlist based on songs 1, 2 and 3 and limit it to 100 songs and call it 'curated playlist' " when I wake up the next day, I should have a list of songs to listen to.

You're not supposed to be spending time on Apple Music, Bozoma Saint John, you're supposed to be designing Mac hardware and debugging software.

And Zane Lowe... How do you expect me to pay Apple my hard-earned cash by refusing to update the Thunderbolt display?

Geez... Apple turning into MTV :/

YES. Spot on. MTV decided anything that had to do with "Music" wasn't profitable enough. The real money is to be made with TV shows and they've barely shown a Music Video since.

Apple decided ( long ago, sadly ) that "Computers" aren't profitable enough. The real money is in iPhones and "streaming" subscriptions and they've barely made a computer since.

iPhones yes, but Beats and Streaming?.... we'll all look back and be shocked how much $$ Apple threw away. ( into Dre's pockets )

I have hard time finding any appeal on Apple Music. I use free Spotify and listen to KCRW radio for new stuff. Apple should have kept a free version of AM.

Well to be honest, showing music videos on tv is a dated concept in the age of internet. MTV would have gone broke years ago. I mean you can watch any music video at any time using apps like Vevo now. No need to sit through the top 100 anymore to FINALLY see the video you have been dying to see for hours

something special?

Perhaps for Millenials and modern R&B but for the rest of the world? They'll go yawn, you call that Music?

Every single person on the planet

Well that's gonna fail isn't it....nothing like making a claim that you can't ever hope to reach...

Guess what? Those millennials you dislike are the newer generation of customers, and that music you dislike so much is what they prefer. And in the end, when you and I are dead, they will still have active wallets. I don't have to understand people being glued to Snapchat to understand it makes someone very rich.

Clueless.

Apple has forgotten its own tenet for simplicity. It was the elegance of their software/hardware/experience that won the hearts of people. Now they are solving matters by throwing more ingredients into the mix. They should return to focusing on the few things they did best and quit trying to own every goddamn thing.

Reportedly, Apple doesn’t conduct focus groups to gauge customer preferences. Instead, Apple determines what is best. Maybe they should start asking.

Yeah. When having the once in a lifetime opportunity to make such a choice, why be like GE when you can be like Blackberry!

News for you: You're not the only person in the world.

Under "For You" you get a playlist called "My Favourites Mix" and "My New Music Mix" - both updated weekly and available for offline listening.

Under "Browse" there are countless playlists all filed by genre, curator or mood/activity.

True, you can't create a station based on a song for offline listening, (and this might be a good idea) but I feel you might have overlooked the rest.

Not interested, I sync my albums I have bought over the years then create my custom play list. If there is something new I like, I download it then add it to my play list.
I also vastly prefer owning content instead of renting it. The problem is that music ownership's days are numbered. One day they'll stop pressing CDs, they'll take away downloads (Apple has already made it a pain by putting ownable music in the iTunes Store but streamable music in the Music app), and it'll all be streaming services.

So buy and rip while you can.

Yeah, but now Apple thinks "Computers" are a dated concept in the age of the internet. Ignoring MTV is easy. NO effect on my life. I can't ignore what Cook and Ferengi are doing to Apple. I now have to buy a stupid Dell for my Maya 3D work because Apple refuses to make a computer with a modern Xeon chip in it. HUGE negative effect on my life.

Go to a playlist, click Edit, and drag songs around use the three grey lines on the right of the screen. You can also drag songs around in "Up Next" in the same way.

Got to agree with you on the bugs, though. Just updated to 10.2 and have had most of my music duplicated, and the one playlist I made ("2016 Favourite Music") is still there, along with "2016 Favourite Music2".

The fact you joined this forum today and wrote a lot of that in CAPS makes your argument a lot more convincing.

To bad it's absolute ********.

Special? Like Macs that aren't a rip-off? Apple Music is ok, but you're a HARDWARE company. Don't forget that. I've been a customer for 35 years. I'm not terribly impressed with my iPhone 7. There's no Mac I'm interested in buying. I just bought a Fire TV to (probably) replace Apple TV. I've started moving away from Apple services and software to third party offerings as I think there's at least a 50/50 chance that my next computer will be a PC. Very disappointed in the new hipster focused, nickel and dime you to death Apple.

Apple is already working on two Apple Music-related shows, a documentary called "Vital Signs" starring Dr. Dre and a reality television show based on the "Carpool Karaoke" spot made famous by "Late Late Show" host James Corden.'

MTV was pretty cool for years until they also decided to expand into reality TV and other forms of crap entertainment. This transformed them into what Stephen Colbert described as "the music channel for people who don't like music."

KCRW is awesome, a much better way to discover new music than Apple Music.

Agreed. I use Apple Music to sample new music and trade suggestions with friends. But I still buy the music I really like on CD (or lossless downloads from Bleep) and rip a lossless copy for my home entertainment system.
