I finally opened my earphones that came with my 5S. Normally I discard bundled headphones but these we were still in my box. I listened to several songs and some videos. Is it just me or are these not too bad? They definitely don't isolate like in ears but I also find them a little more comfy then previous models. Also sound isn't great but seems alright as well.

Thoughts?

The ones that came with my 6 are still in the case, which is still sitting in the box along with the charger and cable.

I use the pair that came with my iPhone 5 as backup for my Shure SE215-CL earbuds.

I don't mind using them, they don't sound bad to me, and they fit in my ears pretty well.

They're not bad for stock earbuds.

I admit I can't afford a set of Beats headphones. But Apple's earphones, to me are very good. If I'm minding my own business listening to music and quality is good. I see no problem using stock earphones.

I went through the phase where I started reading too much on headfi and bought a few nicer headphones... But eventually when I used the EarPods, I found them much much more comfortable and the sound is pretty decent for stock. Since then, I barely use my other headphones.

I find them to be pretty decent. I have 2 expensive pairs by Etymotic and other, both are noise isolating and are great in a noisy environment.

I prefer the open design like Apple for phone calls though. With my isolating units, I have trouble gauging how loud I am.

i actually like the new EarPods. they sound decent and fit in my ears good. plus it follows your iPhone warranty. i use these at they gym and they went crazy on me once and i took it back to the apple store and got a new pair for free.

This got me thinking so I tried the headphone that came with mine and they are not too bad, not as good as the ones that came with my Xperia Z2 but way better than the ones that came with my Note 4. The iPhone pods are very comfortable though, more so than the Sony ones.

Mine always fell out of my ears so never used them. Had 3 sets just sitting in a drawer. from my 5s. iPad mini, and 6 Plus. Found this product, Earhoox, and it brought my EarPods to life. They actually fit now, and I think the sound is great.

I agree with you that the Apple EarPods are pretty decent but I'm like you, could never get them to stay in my ears. Those earhoox thingys would definitely help. Right now I have a super quality set of in ear buds and will continue to use them but the earhoox are definitely a good alternative

Thanks for mentioning this!

I used to use cheap foam and cut some holes in it so the earpods stay in my ears. It was so comfortable that I can use it for hours at a time. Eventually the foam got too old and wore out.

I got the Earskinz a few months ago. Initially it stayed in my ears really well, but over time it stops staying in my ears as well unless I really clean it. While sounds like the sound is a bit better, but for some reason my ears feels really fatigued after I use it for ~10-15 minutes. Not really sure why, but my coworker (who also bought these) guessed maybe its putting pressure on my ears.

Anyways, hopefully the earhoox will work better! Or maybe I should just order more cheap ear bud foams.

I love the earpods. I tried the earskinz and they do very well at helping to block out noise but they become very uncomfortable after about 20 minutes for me. I guess the plain earpods just fit me better.

Happy to see this thread hasn't turned into the usual "just get bluebirds x"

love apple earphones

I've always found apple earphones to be excellent. I feel like its very comfortable compared to other earphones, and the sound is great as well. I know a lot of people that purchases the apple earphones because their original ones break after a year or so.

They're not bad for essentially free earphones that come with the phone. Bass is present albeit a bit muddy, and a good soundscape with balanced mids and highs.

However, they just can't compare with a good set of noise-isolating IEM's.

the moment someone says 'beat headphones' and think they are good, I lose all respect for that person when it comes to sound quality.

You're not missing out on that much, the stock earphones are pretty good.

I used to be a fan (or at least okay with) the stock earbuds, but after I purchased some higher quality earbuds, I can't seem to go back to them. They leak too much sound and really just don't do the songs justice IMO. They are fine for free earbuds though.

the stock earbuds aren't very secure and fall out of my ears with the slightest tug

I keep a pair of EarPods for running and I've had the same EarSkinz experience as some of you. They start falling out after a while unless you clean them. I'll have to check out those Earhoox some time.

I don't know anything about their headphones, but I know Beats makes good headphones. Expensive, yes, but the urBeats I have are pretty good.

Beats are over priced. You can get a way better headphone for half the cost. If you want to educate yourself just go to headfi.com.

Agreed! I wouldn't spend my ex-wifes money on Beats. Overpriced junk. I'm really liking a new pair of MEElectronics Air-Fi Matrix 2s. The quality of sound is awesome and the volume is more than enough. Earbuds will be hard to go back to. I wish I would have got these before buying the Bluebuds.
