iPhone 17 PM. Cellular died when obviously brand newJust another reminder to never buy first-gen tech, from any company. No exceptions!
just trying to spread some rumors here ..This thread is worse than a typical Reddit post. Didn’t know that was achievable.
Even the worst selling iPhone sells millions.
Yes there was and CNET actually tried to make it happen by exposing the phone to various chemicals and cleaning products. Nothing happened 😅Wasn’t there a Reddit story that blew up a while back about someone’s 17 Pro discoloring? Was it ever confirmed that it’s actually happening?
Yeah this definitely indicates they're all breaking. Good call. 🙄Just another reminder to never buy first-gen tech, from any company. No exceptions!
a fabrication defect most likely as we would see a lot more reports of failure if it were design.
My experience with the foray into intel modems by apple was also not good gonna stay with Qualcomm modems til several generations past (even it this is only reported C1X failure). Besides I love my 17 PM 2TB and I have no plans of updating for at least 2 probably 3 years I went from 15 PM (my last phone of updating every year) and skipped the 15 PM line to wait for the cameras all being 48 MP. Now I am set (do not need the rumored adjustable lenses of 18 P PM line). We will see wha transpires with the so called 20 year anniversary and maybe wait til the 21 PM LOLJust another reminder to never buy first-gen tech, from any company. No exceptions!
I experienced those intel modems it was not a good time. And I am staying with my 17 PM for a couple years like I did with my 15 PM. We will see what is out with the so called twentieth anniversary phone (the rumored 20 pro line) but I may stay til the iPhone 21 pro line as I like my 17PM and am finding upgrading each year is a waste of my limited income. I will let others test those modems for several years LOLTo be fair, some are saying "one out of millions" but we have no insight into how many others failed but weren't publicly reported. Many people have no understanding of the baseband tech. It's plausible that others have experienced the same failure, went to Apple or their carrier store, got a device swapped under warranty (as all iPhone Airs would still be under warranty right now), and went on their way without mentioning a word about it online.
Now, I'm the first person to criticize Apple's attempts to replace Qualcomm with this second-rate baseband, having had terrible experiences with the Intel modems that it's built upon. I still think it's well worth paying a premium for the tried-and-true Qualcomm baseband that doesn't have frequent audio cutouts during phone calls, even in good signal conditions. (Not as though Apple would lower the customer's price of these devices with the savings they're deriving from avoiding the Qualcomm baseband anyway.)
But even I'll concede that among millions of C1X units produced, that occasional failures that are not or cannot be identified during the manufacturing QA process is completely reasonable. It is for failures like these that warranties largely exist, and remain one of the few consumer protections that haven't been gutted (yet).
If that were the case Apple would never exist… no Apple ][, no iPhone 1, etc sales. Hence no subsequent versions of ANYTHING.Just another reminder to never buy first-gen tech, from any company. No exceptions!
It's just Air bashing. My iphone 13 had similar failure 3 years ago, with Qualcomm Baseband. So, whats the point of this news?
So, top tier companies never have any products that need to be repaired or software that doesn't need to be updated or patched? If you are going to bash Apple about this particular problem, at least put some logic into your post.Just more top tier quality from apple. First their software and now the modems...
