If the plans about the Mac Pro redesign are true, we should expect to see some sort of indication or release before NAB 2018. That is probably a large chunk of the market that would be purchasing or planning to purchase.

Curious what is in store for the Mac Mini and if it is tied to the Mac Pro in terms of expandability at all. Maybe that would serve as a "base" that can be built upon?

He said "for the season". season means autumn for me. Therefore a december keynote would be possible. Theoretically.

There's 1.5 weeks left in October. I think by now it would have been obvious there's no event coming. Not sure why one would need to ask Craig about it.

may 2018

Another season goes by and another yawn Apple period. Tim is busy counting the consequences of 50% less iPhones sold and his calculator works overtime. He has just sent out an internal memo to confirm there will be no form factor change in next year iPhones. Just a slightly increase in price of $ 300 to compensate missing sales.

The iMac Pro received a low response. Graphic artist and media experts already migrated to HP workstations years ago and consumers aren't willing to pay the steep price.

Also macrumors is full of complaints of about the iMac Pro because it's the same form factor since... All is glued together and once the screen dies... it's useless.

You really think the iMac Pro won't be all glued together ? That's almost guaranteed. And yes, we will complain and rightfully so.

If they don't at least announce the MacPro in 2017, that means it won't be released until 2019. They might as well not even bother if that is their time frame.

So YES, no October event is a problem for Mr. Ferengi and his rules of acquisition.

I wanna order my HomePod. Waiting to hear the date for that. The question is: Should I get one, or two? Hmmmm
As an AAPL stockholder, get at least two.

Sort of off-topic but does anyone find it a little strange that a high-ranking member of the largest company in the world responds with smileys?
Soon you’ll be getting animated poop emojis, so count your blessings.

I was hoping that we would see a live demo of the HomePod in action.

You will at the Apple stores in December. The stores have already been redesigned to have a HomeKit section and I wouldn't be surprised if they included this in that section as well. Showing off how it can play music and control all the devices around the home.

When hs Apple ever done a December keynote? And for what? Both iMac Pro and HomePod have been announced on stage. No need for another event just because they’re going on sale.

As the saying goes, if you don’t cannibalize your own market your competitors will. Apple was doing this with the mac mini, then chickened out and gimped the product. Maybe Apple thinks they are in such command of the market they can get away with this, but it is so disappointing.

Why do people keep calling these things keynotes? They’re press events. A keynote starts a conference/convention.

WWDC would have the only “keynote” of the year.

Would make sense in a way - Intel's next major CPU bump is Ice Lake, which probably sees the light of day 2018. And to be fair: given the time the Mac mini has not seen any update, waiting half a year longer does not really make a difference.

Yeah not really - they might as well unvail the Mac mini pro

Why is this even a question? It is obvious no event in October...
Lezzeee -

WWDC = June each year
Mac laps: updated last October
iPads: updated last June-ish
iPhone: updated this month.
iOS/MacOS: updated this month.

What's left?
Actually:

March - iPad
June - iPad Pros, iMacs, Mac laptops (WWDC)
September - iPhone 8/8+, Watch, ATV 4K, iOS, macOS
November - iPhone X
Coming in December: HomePod, iMac Pro. Will there be an event? Not likely, HomePod is being pushed for audio quality for now, not Siri, will be ramping up production. iMac Pro is not a high volume product, not likely an event for that.

Personally, I think this works better, in recent years they’ve put too many products in Q3, in time for the holidays, I hope they keep updating the iPads in June or even March.

Maybe, but, considering what they are launching, not likely.
If the 2013 Mac Pro is anything to go by, they'll probably both be launched at one minute to midnight on 31 December.
Yeah, when they say they are launching a product in December, don’t expect it to be in time for the “holidays”, but before end of the year. If someone wants to gift one of these products, buy an Apple Store gift card, (not itunes/App Store, won’t work to buy hardware).
So much for the Mac Mini being an important product for Apple future.
He just said that this week, “future” means not right now, but later, more likely, sometime next year. Just because you think it should be now, doesn’t mean it will be. Mac Mini is not a high volume product, so, not high priority.

Mac Mini - sometime next year, probably in June, no big event about it.
Mac Pro - may hear more in June, but, unless they and Intel are moving fast I wouldn’t expect this before this time next year, either October or December release.

No, the iPod Touch will not be updated again, maybe another price drop, one configuration before let go, but, it is nearl EOL.

iPad Mini - Even though I’d love to see the iPad Mini go Pro, with rumors of larger iPhone X coming next year, I’d be surprised if this gets updated. It is also near EOL. I hope I am wrong, I’d love an iPad Mini Pro w/A11X bionic next year...I just don’t think it’s going to happen. iPad Mini 4 may continue as long as Apple continues to make other devices with A8 chips in them, so, not gone yet.

MacBook Air - will only be around until they can find a way to lower the entry level price for either the MacBook or 13” MacBook Pro.

iPhone SE - I’d be surprised if it gets an update before it is 3 years old, or they give us a smaller version of the X (in a year or so). If you think SE will be updated in March, you’re dreaming.

Homepod might be nice, but they are too late to the party for me. I already have 2 Google Homes and use them for my lights, thermostat, home theatre control, etc. I don't see any reason to sell them both and buy a Homepod.

Probably just an amazing new collection of bands in fantastic colors.

Magical even...
[doublepost=1508519787][/doublepost]I hear the next animoji event is gonna be off the hook!
[doublepost=1508519939][/doublepost]And one more thing... a self-driving Amazon Echo killer!
