Yes I understand your point but they do it every year to coincide with the new iPhones getting released every September with the additional few software teaks for said new iPhonesThey should stop with this madness. Release ios and mac os every two years, or when you have something major. No need for this self imposed yearly cycle BS. Apple already lost to android, so no need to chase these gimmicks every year by compromising stability.
There is more than rough over the top hyperbolic criticism to justify my comments. And it’s in your own opinion about “misplaced loyalty”.You're purposely misrepresenting what people are mad about because you have some kind of misplaced loyalty to a corporation.
Many posters are expressing faux outrage.People are mad and concerned because Apple demoed vaporware instead of working software.
That’s why people have to have room for opinions of all types. This delay might be a breach of trust to you, it’s not for me. 🤷♂️That's something Apple is famous for not doing and it's a huge breach of user trust
Apple needs to embrace this Ford tag line from 1988…What compensation will Apple provide to those of us who upgraded a serviceable older iPhone to gain this iOS 18 AI capability?
This delay seems like bait and switch.
And there are critics that are also over the top with the nonsense hyperbolic verbiage. The problem is every company makes mistakes but not every company has fans that don’t even acknowledge these mistakes
It’s not over the top criticism when a company announces something that isn’t remotely ready in the first place & then continues with advertisements for said product even though it’s still not working correctly & yet people like yourself give them a free pass at that. And there are critics that are also over the top with the nonsense hyperbolic verbiage.
Re AirPower and wireless charging, I recall Phil Schiller crowing about apples competence in this area and “we know how to do this” and “we are going to share this with others”.AirPower was also working to some extent.
If it’s working well, then they wouldn’t need to start over and rewrite entire pieces of code according to Bloomberg reports.
It is over the top criticism for a delay. Have you read some of those comments? Do you agree heads should roll and Tim crook should be fired, and Apple is slowly sinking to the abyss of blackberry? It’s not over the top criticism when a company announces something that isn’t remotely ready in the first place &
People like yourself? What kind of an insult is that?then continues with advertisements for said product even though it’s still not working correctly & yet people like yourself give them a free pass at that.
What I mean by that is no matter what mistakes this company makes you defend them to the hilt.It is over the top criticism for a delay. Have you read some of those comments? Do you agree heads should roll and Tim crook should be fired, and Apple is slowly sinking to the abyss of blackberry?
People like yourself? What kind of an insult is that?
As it is you right to criticize what this company does. What I mean by that is no matter what mistakes this company makes you defend them to the hilt.
Body works like that. Companies imo work with the expectation they will be able to get announced software working. Sometimes it doesn’t turn out like that. If apple waited there would be no wwdc.No I don’t think heads should roll but what I do think is software & hardware should not be getting announced until they are actually working correctly in the first place.
AgainAs it is you right to criticize what this company does.

This is a great example.Repeating myself here but... "marketing" is when you have somethign that works.... fraud and hishoensty is when you have a concept that doesn't really exist or work anywhere near what you intended.
In Apple's case, they "marketed" the benefit of purchasing specific hardware as being a product (software - Siri) that would make that device sing. Instead, where Elizabeth Holmes copied Steve Job's look, Apple coppied her demo process and "false advertising" of a product that does not do what it claims.

You mean like the time he demoed the original iPhone? It is time once again for a Steve Jobs type actual performance introduction show with a working product at a publicly held meeting place so there is publicly verifiable action, not just smoke and mirrors in a canned presentation.
never had any issues like that with my OG iphone 2g. Loved that phone to death! You mean like the time he demoed the original iPhone?
None of these kludges fixed the iPhone’s biggest problem: it often ran out of memory and had to be restarted if made to do more than a handful of tasks at a time. Jobs had a number of demo units onstage with him to manage this problem. If memory ran low on one, he would switch to another while the first was restarted.
I think no one knows the state of the software. I think they had some underpinnings there and were planning on getting more accomplished then they actually could.Again
There is nothing wrong with previewing software features at wwdc
However this was a concept video not actual functional software
There is a difference hence why it’s delayed because they can’t get it to work properly
9 months later.
No, your posts are criticizing on speculation not facts. The big difference is I buy apple products & can still criticize the company for mistakes that are made unlike yourself who refuses to acknowledge any mistakes the company makes
The demo was Steve saying the iPhone is magical. The actual magic was Steve's sleight of hand tricks.Jobs had a number of demo units onstage with him to manage this problem. If memory ran low on one, he would switch to another while the first was restarted.
There is a working prototype of personal context too. Except, it's not good enough for release. Just like the iPhone was not ready for release at the time it was demoed, even though it was presented as a finished product. The story of that demo has been known for years, you should read the entire article if you are not aware. You miss the important point. The actual iPhone was on the stage, not a drawing or a verbose verbalization trying to describe the iPhone.
It was in reality a functioning prototype that showed off a new world of communication. He was smart enough to have several on hand as prototypes can have issues, that is why they are called prototypes.
agreed. But, sadly, I don’t think such a persuasive argument can overcome the victim blaming bias carried by some.First, You are replying to the wrong person. I never said I bought a phone based on Apples’s promise, that was the OP. I agree that it is a bad idea to buy a product on a future promise—which I said.
Second, I think you missed my point, so let me say it in a simpler way that hopefully you can understand.
Lots of people trust apple. That trust has been eroding for a while. Apple AI is eroding it faster. That is Apple’s problem.
But sure, attack me and say i don't believe in personal accountability and I want to blame people and point fingers. You know nothing about my values. You didn't even follow the conversation correctly before jumping to conclusions and being all “internet though guy”. When you think people disagree with you, do you normally resort to personal attacks? People can have different opinions, and there is nothing wrong with that.
It’s not criticism when it’s actually true that Apple show a concept video of something that didn’t actually work correctly in the first place.I think no one knows the state of the software. I think they had some underpinnings there and were planning on getting more accomplished then they actually could.
