BoyRacer, your update did not install. The current version MBA41.0077.B0F was the previous version we were all running on. For a short time yesterday after the update was released, Apple's firmware page was updated to reflect MBA41.0077.B11F as being the current version - they have since, having realized this was a bad/erroneous update, canceled the software update & revised that page to show MBA41.0077B0F as being the current version.
From everything I'm reading, it's pretty apparent that the new EFI didn't actually install for anyone.

My install took a very long time to restart after reboot. Thought it was bricked. Was in process of researching the issue on the iPad when it finally rebooted. My points of note:
1) Definitely starts from sleep more rapidly now. Love this.
2) Having issues with wi-fi now. Specifically, after waking the computer from sleep, nearly every single time the wifi network is no longer chosen and active. I have to wait for it to scan for available networks, and select correct one to join. Annoying.

Mine still shows the old version number, but my fan used to sound like a jet engine most of the time and doesn't anymore (in fact I don't think that I have heard it since), and I am experiencing the same wifi issue that Gav is experiencing. I think it is partially installing for people who tried.

I am experiencing the issue with wifi too. If you don't want to wait for it to scan toggle it on and off and it will connect.

It appears that it might have removed from the Mac App Store? I was reluctant to install it after hearing some reports, went to the App Store today and the notification was no longer there and it definitely wasn't installed.

Total Confusion...

So much of this does not make sense... The Apple support page says the current Firmware for Mid-2011 MBAs is "MBA41.0077B0F - SMC version 1.73f66" but the EFI Update specifically says ONLY install over firmware versions ending in:

System Requirements
OS X 10.9.2 and later - MBA mid-2011 versions only
Update over these EFI versions only:
0077.00
0077.08
0077.0E
0077.0F

So does that mean ending in 0077.BOF ??? I took it to NOT mean 77.BOF. So who is doing this update? And are the problems for those not following this specific instruction?

I guess this is moot now as the EFI 2.9 Update has been removed from the Apple support pages ... and as is so common today, no official word from the company which makes us all waste an ungodly amount of time searching rumor forums for what's going on. Sigh...

I wish they'd push out an update for Late-2013 iMacs. I dual boot, and waiting for my Mac to display boot options is a real pain as it is waiting for my USB 3 Time Machine drive. It would be nice if it would show me other options while waiting for the external drive.

Just to follow up, I am also having the wi-fi problem as others, where my MBA I have to manually select my wi-fi network EVERY SINGLE TIME that I wake up the MBA from sleep.

I'd rather have the shorter wi-fi range than this, as this means that my MBA will no longer be able to grab new email while it's sleeping.

Wish there was a way to undo this half-@ssed firmware update :(

Btw, my Boot ROM still says MBA41.0077.B0F
