Great! Two whole months to decide if I like I using the polishing cloth…![]()
They do this every year
Yes, because of potential delays and why lots other major retailers have already extended before Apple.I sense a conspiracy. Why are they doing it on November 1 this year? That's 10 to 15 days earlier than previous years.
Perhaps this is due to the much longer than expected delivery time for the 13 Pro, 13 Pro Max and the iPad Mini 6? (all are about 1 month)

I was literally in the exact same boat. I was one day past my return date and finally found a Pro Max in stock. Zero problems with the swap. Took all of 2 minutes.I would normally be happy to hear this, but I'm sorry. It irks me that this becomes a "thing" only for holiday shopping with Apple. I mean, let's be honest. Xmas is the one time of the year when you're going to have the most returns or exchanges. So for Apple to temporarily lift the usual 15-day return policy and make a more "industry-typical" 30 day one over the holidays is more like them trying to dodge a bunch of criticism and anger from customers than any gift to people.
I bought a new iPhone 13 Pro on launch day, ordered from Apple direct. 1TB model, even. It took me a little time to use features on it like the camera for video recording and to see how it charged on two different inductive charging pads I had in my car and at home, etc. etc. As I learned more about it, I realized I could have done just fine with the "Max" version (unwarranted initial fears it wouldn't fit on the inductive charging pad in my car and so forth), and really started missing the larger screen size of my XS Max this phone replaced. When I finally found a local store with a 1TB Max version of the 13 in stock, I was already 1 day past my time limit to do an exchange -- AND, it was a long workday that meant I couldn't even get over there that night before they closed.
So ... living with my 13 Pro and a little miffed I couldn't swap for the Max. (But had this been a "holiday purchase" instead, I would have easily had time to do that swap.)
Don’t assume that everybody lives in the US…there are better cloths out there for $29 made by Leica. check B&H Photo.
You still should have gone over and returned it. Apple typically allows a little leeway with the 14 day return policy if its only a day or two past the 14. That’s happened to me a couple of times and they’ve always agreed to accept the return without any pushback.I would normally be happy to hear this, but I'm sorry. Well, too bad the extended period means nothing to me since I don't get my Macbook Pro delivered till late December.![]()
This is my concern. If I pull the trigger on the MBP I want now, it will more than likely be BTO, so I'm waiting for it to get shipped here, which will eat into that return period.. and if it makes it out to be less than what the normal return period is, I've gained nothing from it.
Has Apple said anything about how this plays in with the delayed shipping that everyone is having due to supply constraints?

Time to get the iPhone 13 mini and see if it suits my needs with Face ID wearing mask and such.
The only thing is, I’m still not sure what color to pick, I love Red, Starlight and Midnight. I guess you cannot exchange the colors once you’ve bought one, unless you make a return and buy a different one. I hope they don’t get mad at me if I change my opinion. Several times.

For me the macbook pro 14 shows a delivery date between november 23rd through dec 1st..I was going to order it today but thought to myself, what if apple decides to up the apple card cash back from 3 percent to 6 percent I will end up losing it..for apple education purchases I know they dont give anything additional as far as black friday deals like gift cards, etc..but wanted to be sure the extended holiday return is also for the education site
Items purchased at the Apple Online Store that are received between November 1, 2021 and December 25, 2021, may be returned through January 8, 2022. Please note that all other terms and conditions provided in the Apple Online Store Sales and Refunds Policy are still applicable with respect to such items purchased. All purchases made after December 25, 2021 are subject to the Standard Return Policy.

they probably will stick to the January 8 deadline. how long is the wait for the MBP now?
right now I'm showing 4-5 weeks, unless they have a 14" 10/16/16 16GB 2TB SSD sitting in the stores.. That puts it around December 10 - December 17. I'm currently showing that store pickup is not available for that option. This would only buy me an extra week for the return policy if those dates hold up.
What they should have done is made the extended return policy window based on the date of purchase, not a static window.
BL.
It looks like it is also for the education site, and you're right; they don't give discounts (read: black friday deals) on the educational site because it is already discounted as is.
But I am reminded of a proof of parallel lines I remember learning in 10th grade geometry:
If two parallel lines are cut by a transversal, then their opposite angles are congruent.
One of the things I tend to look at with the legalese is not just what it says, but what it doesn't say and consider the opposite of that, because that opposite would also be true. For example, if their policy didn't explicitly exclude the Education site, then it implies that it is included. Since they didn't exclude it and we can show proof at the time of purchase that it wasn't excluded, then legally it would have to be included. In this case, their policy states:
They didn't explicitly exclude the Education store, and going even further, they indirectly included it by saying that it is for the Apple Online store.. they didn't exactly say which Apple Online store. And to go even further than that, the EDU return policy lists nothing different than the normal Online store return policy, and even goes to say to simply refer to it:

So unless Apple makes some changes rather quickly, it is safe to say that the extended return policy definitely applies to the education store.
