Just release the iPhone XS or the upcoming iPhone 11 in a smaller size and I would even pay $1000 for it.
It seems like I am wrong, but I had previously predicted a smaller XR class LCD phone in the 5.5” size.

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/the-case-for-a-5-2-5-5-inch-xr.2140865/#post-26549981

Right now the 6.1” LCD XR is the little brother to the 6.5” OLED XS Max. There is no corresponding LCD model to the 5.8” OLED XS. My prediction based on math was that Apple would eventually release an LCD model to fill the gap, and it would be 5.5” but with Face ID and would be closer in size to a 4.7” iPhone 8 due to the lack of Touch ID.

That and the discontinuation of the iPhone 8 would eliminate Touch ID from the entire iPhone product line and go all Face ID with a bigger screen than an iPhone 8, albeit with notch.

Yep.

Sounds like it could be really good. If it has the same camera as the XR it’s a winner IMO. May have to take a look if it does along with the other specs in this story.
I don’t see why it wouldn’t have the XR’s single rear camera. Likely 3GB RAM. Not sure I believe A13 if it’s really meant to be low cost, but maybe Apple’s cost for the A13 isn’t much different than the A11 or A12 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Call me crazy, but I'm someone who would take a look at this device if Apple releases it. As much as I like my Xs, the price of smartphones are getting out of control.

Price the model around $500, and it will sell. Not sure if it would be as popular as the SE, but consumers will buy a budget iPhone.

So much for all the couch CEOs who says Apple never goes back.

I’m happy for all those tiny fingered people clamoring for this type of device. We’ll see how many there really are.

Low cost hasn’t really been Apples thing for a while now. I’ll believe this when I see it.
It’s all relative. Compared to $1,099, $449 is low cost.

But yeah, it’s not going to go head to head with a crappy $200 Android. Apple has zero interest in playing in the high volume/no profit space.

Nothing is official yet obviously but i heard this rumor months ago and everyone said March 2020. iPhone 8 with updated A13 chipset and 128 GB storage. March 2020.
Why would anybody buy that? If its price, nobody cares about A12,A13.....all these phones do is to wait faster until my finger hits the screen.
The SE (5) form factor was great, shave a bit off the bezles and you can squeese a 4,7” screen in there.
A revamped 8 brings nothing to the hundreds of millions of 6s, 7, and 8 users, why should they upgrade? Look at the 6s, 289 Euros brand new, got a real home button (not a sensor) got a head phone jack, got a good camera, got support for iOS13 and is a real iPhone. Cheap parts, screen, battery, home button, tons of cheap accesories ect. Why would you give this up for 1 GB more memory or an on paper faster prozessor?

I bought the iPhone 6s before the SE. Would have prefered the SE. But now, after nearly 4 years and still fantastic batterie and thanks to its various cases pretty new look, I will wait for a phone that is better, not faster in some benchmarks or “better” by eliminating things like a home button, headphone jack and adding weight and at the same time raising the prices to used car level. There is nothing as a daily runner the 6s can not do

Did we read the same article? This isn’t a 4.0” SE-sized phone, it’s a 4.7” like the iPhone 6/7/8.

If it’s got a metal back, it’s basically a 7s. If it’s got a glass back, it’s pretty much an 8s. They might call it iPhone 11SE but the name doesn’t really matter much.

We're both crazy then. I'm never going to buy a freaking phone for more money than I paid for my 6S (€ 850). As nice as the iPhone X is, the prices are just ridiculous and unjustified. The problem is that people are still buying them, giving Apple no reason not to price the next iPhones even higher.

This sounds like an updated iPhone 8, which sounds great to me. I'll be riding one of the 3 being released soon, but I know a bunch of people who'd not only be fine but would want an updated 8 with a lower price.

Nobody's missed that, people have said it literally hundreds, or even thousands, of times over the last year and a half.
A thousand pardons for not reading the entirety of Macrumors before posting this. I bow to your superior memory of every previous post and your remarkable ability to mentally tally these “literal” thousands of references.

Don’t bank on that. The 4.7” form factor of the iPhone 8 is likely to be the smallest size. And if this new device has the A13 and probably 3GB of RAM, it will be a screamer performance wise with probably quite good battery life with the LCD display.

I'm also in the market for a SMALL iphone. My space grey SE is plenty powerful. I don't need a powerboost. I'd love to have a slightly bigger/brighter screen, same formfactor, same headphone jack and probably a bit better battery life due to newer internals. That's it. The SE is damn near perfect (for me).

All the other smartphones have become more or less the same. Non of us common folks gets close to the threshold of performance even a 3-year-old iphone offers. I don't want a huge 1.200 buck brick in my pocket, no thank you! :)

Say my daughter shatters her iPhone 7. I have to currently get another iPhone 7 or 8 to replace it. In the future it would be this iphone instead after Apple stops selling iPhone 7 and 8.

Nope. It’s not a very exciting upgrade for those users. Just a replacement really.

That would actually be very cool, and a nicely positioned product. Let's see.
