Maybe it is just me but it took them way too long to launch this. Will use at until i can afford a Peloton / can safely go back to the gym.
There are nice bikes out there that are way cheaper than Peloton. The sub cost is much higher too.

It’s a value thing. If you like the product and use it, then it’s worth it. I am, like I suspect most people on this forum are, a gadget geek who probably have a sizable storehouse of things we have purchased that are collecting dust to the chagrin of our spouses/partners. When it comes to fitness gear it’s much the same. With that said, the Peloton is the ONLY product/subscription that my whole family has used on an almost daily basis for more than 2 years. As my mother once taught me about value, take a product’s cost and divide it by the number of times you use it. A pretty solid formula in my eyes.
I will try Apple‘s new service to see if it attains the same value as our Peloton.

Given that most people who would be willing to do this kind of exercise is mostly out of shape and has never done these moves (and presumably won't be watching themselves do these moves) I predict injury and back related pain in many. No one spotting them. Range of motion exceeds daily norm. Form all out of whack.
On what basis do you make this statement "is mostly out of shape and has never done these moves" ?

The spin bike I have cost about $800 and I can use it with any service including Peloton. The only feature I can't get access to on Peloton is leaderboards, even though my bike has a power meter in it. That feature is only open to people paying $35 a month that own their bike.

your neighbors probably approve of you not getting a peloton lol
The bike is near silent. The rider makes more noise huffing and puffing than you hear from the bike.

We bought one when our child was an infant. Going to the gym meant leaving the house and arranging childcare. Not an option for us, so we got a bike. Ours is right next to his room and it was never loud enough to disturb him.

As a related note, it's great to have the bike with a child. There are some excellent instructors on Peloton, to the point where we occasionally laugh out loud while riding (when we can breathe). Our kid sees us having fun while exercising and wants to do the same. It builds up a healthy attitude towards physical activity.

OK, so, Apple, when I click on the link to the WSJ magazine article for this story, why can't Safari figure out that I am an Apple News+ subscriber and allow the full story to load? Or take me to the Apple News+ app on my computer? And for that matter, why can't I search withinApple News+ on my phone?

Apple Fitness+ is set to launch on December 14, and ahead of its debut, Apple's senior director of fitness technologies Jay Blahnik did an interview with WSJ. Magazine to answer some questions about Apple's newest streaming service.

applefitnesswatchandiphone.jpg

Though now is an excellent time for a home workout program, Apple has been developing Fitness+ for more than five years. Apple has recruited a total of 21 trainers after an "intensive search" where "no gym was too gritty to visit." Fitness+ syncs the Apple Watch to the Apple TV, iPad, or iPhone so you can see progress, including relative to others. "Metrics is motivation," said Blahnik of the feature.Apple Fitness+ has a robust recommendation engine to suggest workouts to people. "We always say: it shouldn't take 20 minutes to find a 20 minute workout," said Blahnik. Fitness+ suggestions will work based on the workouts that you've done, with some gentle encouragement to try other workout types.

The service is meant to be "equipment agnostic." Many of the workouts can be done with no equipment, and others, such as cycling, will work with existing equipment from many brands. It's also designed for users of all levels.Apple Fitness+ will come with a three month free trial for anyone who purchased an Apple Watch Series 6, Series 3, or SE after the September 15 launch of those devices. The service will be accessible through the Fitness app on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV.

Another attempt to copy and destroy smaller App Store competitors. This is a plain copy of existing apps.

The only thing I don't like about the fitness app on the watch is ... I have turned off notifications, but it still tells me when I have completed my "rings". And that I am half way thru a workout. To me, these seem to be ... notifications! As soon as these little missives stop hitting the fan, I'll be interested in Apple Fitness. 🍸😹
Open the Watch app, go to Activity, and literally turn off everything in there. You won’t get anything else 👌🏻

Forgive me if this is obvious, but I just want total clarity. You can't use Fitness+ at all without an Apple Watch at this point, is that correct?

Since our lockdown is never going to end, I might give this a chance. I am getting bored of my life. I am pretty much stuck in Groundhog Day. Perfectly timed

I'm more concerned about which 20/22 fitness instructors were selected and which gyms were 'no gym was too gritty to visit' . Like who on earth still uses 'gritty'?

I worry that like with so many of Apple's fitness exercises that JUST cardio and HIIT is the only focus.
Fitness is NOT only determined by your cariovascular endurance but also your muscular endurance as well. Some of us workout on our muscles as well as a total overall fitness.

Next up for Apple ...

Take over MyFitnessPal for nutritional intake, record keeping and how it affects your energy levels, production output of fitness performance and overall mood.

Trust me ... THIS is the last piece of the puzzle which will be the holy grail.

Next week purchase/repurchase: iPhone 12 mini /Apple Watch Nike+ S6 GPS.
HomePods are in place, TV is facing away from workout area were Soloflex is
^ Soloflex to be replaced with Bowflex Revolution (if I can find one) and their 3-in-1 foldable chair, SelectTech Dummbells + Barbells (when they start producing those again!)

To be fair, part of it is the cost of the Peloton, the other is the lack of space in my apartment.
THIS is goin to be a key for so many people in the western world as Condo's get much smaller and the murphy bed rises up to make for usable space. If no condo gyms can be used then it's in home space.

Dumbells (selecttech or similar)
folding standable chair, potential barbell or kettlebell weights or similar and boom you're all set.
Winter sprints in the freshly made snow and you're good to rock 'n roll.

Me I'll add back my Jits training especially for stretches, and breathing techniques.

Love Peleton and it’s worth the $42 a month. If Apple ever builds a “iBike Max” if will sell for $9000 And the power adapter and seat will cost extra.

Congratulations you win the award for the most handsome macrumor person I ever did see.

Just like at the gym.

Okay now that I'm done writing snarky retorts to other comments, I will say I'm very much looking forward to this. Before the pandemic wifey and I were, like so many other Americans, wasting good money on a gym membership we barely used. Now that we're living in a bunker, AF+ seems like a tremendous deal. Wifey was doing occasional Youtube-based classes, and I was doing nothing other than occasional bike rides. We both bought Apple Watch 6's last week, and we even rearranged a room to allow for a workout space with good access to the TV. I'll be signing up for this on Monday, and based on the tightness of my belt not a moment too soon.
