Foldable have still not really taken off. I even know a few people who moved back to regular phones after having a foldable. They are just not that great, and it’s an extra mechanical weak point in the design.
And I know people who love theirs. One of the guys has had multiple ones and he said one that just came out was much better than the previous one. By the time Apple comes out with one, most of the kinks will probably be dealt with.

By the time the kinks are sorted out I hope Apple actually releases a real sustainable iPhone

An iPhone that is modular where you can customize it. Camera module, battery module, SoC module, screen module.

The technology is there, it’s possible. And I think in 10 to 20 years time it will be something that people will demand.

Upgrading your iPhone every 3 to 5 years will become hideously irresponsible.

Even recycling has issues, especially for tech.

And I think some of us would love to opportunity to have unique devices where you can create a bespoke configuration for your own requirements.

I believe this will happen to laptops and iPads too.

We even see it happening on some other manufacturers laptops, they started including panels where you can easily swap the SSD.

My Thinkpad fold IS that great. I have an iPad Pro somewhere. Just don’t care or need to use it for anything.

People here saying foldables are not going to take off or dismissing it entirely have never used one. As someone who owns one it's really nice to have both options in my pocket at all times. Front display for regular stuff. Folding out to a 7" display when I'm watching a video or remoting into a desktop at work while waiting for my car to be worked on. I get why people have reservations about adding another layer of possible failure, however I believe that apple care would be worth it on a device like that.

Great to hear about under the screen FaceID. Would like to see normal FaceID on the foldable iPhone too. Having TouchID alone will be a disappointment.

I have no use for a foldable iPhone. It would quickly get annoying every time I needed to use it, fishing it out of my pocket and unfolding it to make or answer a call, and then refolding it before putting it back in my pocket.

But a foldable iPad is something I'd strongly consider.
What you've described is a flip, not a foldable.

There have been several rumors suggesting that a foldable ‌iPad‌ or MacBook is in the works. Previous rumors have been unclear on whether the upcoming foldable device will be an ‌iPad‌ or a Mac, but either is feasible depending on what operating system Apple opts to go with.
Uh, I've been using foldable Macs for over twenty years. What are they on about?

A foldable iPad makes sense as it would enable artists and others to more easily carry a much larger workspace. The large iPads are inherently fragile but a foldable one would be both convenient and someone more sturdy.
I was just thinking that a foldable display would be bad for artists trying to draw over a display with a bump in it from the crease.
