until their customer "service" reps start to care any for their customers, nothing will help airbnb. as soon as there is a healthy competitor i and everyone i know will close our accounts.
Have your problems been as a guest or a host? (I've never been a host, and I've been fortunate as a guest to never need customer service.)

There is a social class club that partly includes company boards (you can add universities to this also). The members are never out of jobs for too long because they get positions and salaries almost immediately!

I think she's a perfect fit. A defective executive to sit on the board of a failing company with a defective business model.

Will AirBNBs become meeting spaces like Starbucks?

Everyone renting their property will have to allocate a living room for the general public to come in and use as an open meeting space. The owners will have to provide big screen TVs to promote communal activities. And in the interest of the social good, washrooms and shower facilities will need to be made available at no cost to anyone who cares to walk in off the street and request them.

oddly enough - both :))) but the worst are when you are a host and it's your apartment that issues are with. most of my friends have experienced issues as guest. the worst and the nastiest issue is that they go against their own rules that are written on their website. their feedback policy specifically. and when i explained it to them over the phone all they did was tell me how this is supposed to be interpreted. it was just insane, but the bottom line is - they don't give a .

That's disappointing, but not really surprising to hear.

I am definitely less inclined to use AirBNB than a few years ago. Except for specific locations (like Atlanta on DragonCon weekend) or specific needs (like a house for a large group), I find less of an advantage over hotels than I did a few years ago.

Just a name with recognized history. Makes sense for AirBNB at their stage.
AirBnB acquired HotelTonight. AirBnB and HT are parallel verticals to Apple Stores and Physical/Retail commerce. This seems like a great match for her.

I've used them twice and it was creepy. I'd rather pay a bit more to limit the chance of me being recorded.

I use Airbnb all the time. Prefer to have an entire place for myself rather than a small hotel room. If some weird person wants to see me naked in the shower, so be it. I honestly don't give a flying monkey.

i was a bit surprised, as i remember when they just appeared as a small company. they let s. get to their head way too soon for their own good.
whenever i can i use booking.com, but of course, i still use airbnb as there really isn't a good alternative. yet...

She do not need the cash. She can do what makes her happy. Hopefully she can fix up airbnb.

Ok so in a months time she got a job at AirBnB? She was definitely fired. Good look AirBnB.

Not sure how you made that correlation. There aren't many people in the world with her type of experience. I'm sure she has a constant flow of job offers.

This is how they work at FAMGA. You just sorta get shuffled around to whoever needs to look good at the time.

"Hey guys, this is Angela. She's going to be on our board. We realize no one at FAGMA knew who she was until she was at Apple, but Apple has let her go and now everyone knows who she is so we've put her on our board. They've already posted about it on several news sites. Now the world will see we are truly Big Papa Airbnb. All hail Big Papa."

Interesting. I’m not a fan of AirBnBs policies that seem to turn a blind eye to abusing the system, but on the other hand they have allowed me to visit places I wouldn’t be able to afford otherwise. I hope a competitor comes their way.

Apple's former retail chief Angela Ahrendts, who left the company last month after five years, has joined Airbnb's board of directors.

In May 2018, Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky said that he planned to appoint at least one woman to the company's board, according to CNN. Ahrendts will be the second woman to join Airbnb's board after Ann Mather of Pixar and Disney last August.

"Angela has a reputation for pushing brands to dream big, and she told me that's exactly what she hopes to bring to Airbnb's Board," said Chesky.

Ahrendts reflected on her time at Apple in February:Here's what Apple CEO Tim Cook had to say:prior to joining Apple in 2014, Ahrendts was the CEO of famous fashion company Burberry, and before that, she held positions at Liz Claiborne and Donna Karan. Ahrendts joined Apple at a time when Apple was experimenting with luxury products, such as the $10,000-plus 18-karat gold Apple Watch Edition.

Ahrendts was succeeded by longtime Apple executive Deirdre O'Brien, who now oversees both human resources and retail aspects of the company.

For heaven's sake please stop reminding us that this pointless person once worked for Apple - some of us are trying to forget.

We’ll all just assume you know very little about Ahrendts extensive background to earn her new position.

Yeah, all that hate on a PERSONAL level on the Internet is rather disgusting. Hating the politics and policies of a company/corporation - sure, that's not a person; companies are there to do something FOR people, so it's fine to give them a lot of flak if they become corporate monsters.

But from all her public appearances and interviews I'd say that Mrs Ahrendts is a perfectly fine corporate executive with an impeccable record. She more than earned her success and good reputation.

She's just on the board. Yes she will help make decisions but it's not like she's an executive or CEO. Plenty of people serve on boards for many companies just to give alternative outside views. Rarely do board members have enough significance to change companies.
