No troll, just conclusion from observation. Look at my join date. I've had an iPhone 4s since release date. A few weeks ago at the start of this trial, I sold it and bought a Galaxy Nexus.

Is the Nexus that much better? Of course not, but is it different? Very much so.

My point being, Apple has lost me as a customer. Not that they need my support, but over the entire course of my life, 30 plus years, I've never boycotted a company until now.

Bye then

How can an iPad mini take up an entire event? If it happens after the iPhone iOS 6 Will have already been announced so what else is there to talk about? Unless they also announce new iPods at this event? As far as iMacs go if there's not a major redesign or retina display and just an update to internals, wouldn't Apple just update their website with new models?

iPad mini over iPhone 5

I like to see iPad mini over iPhone 5

but i can understand Apple wants to sell iPhone 5, iPod touch, updated iPad and then introduce iPad mini ...

anyway we have limited cash, i am going to keep the $$$ for iPad mini, iPhone 4S will last for another year or so ...

Delaying iPod event beyond Sep 1st week is a sign of weakness, when Steve around he always kept that date for iPod updates almost for several years ...

well Apple cares about $$$ which iPhone is!

Apple cares about all their products just as much. They care about their entire eco system because that is what is most important.

What kind of phone do you think all those little kids are going because of their iPod Touch?

I'm not calling you a troll - but join date is irrelevant in that regard. There are some individuals I've seen trolling MacRumors for as long as I've been here (this is the point where you look at my join date).

They must not have much going on outside of their web browser...

BTW if you think this is just about a "rounded rectangle", it would behoove you to read through all the individual points the jury ruled on. You can believe what you want about Apple - and I'm not entirely happy with how fast they move to litigate - but it's pretty obvious Samsung wasn't doing much original thinking at all.

Hopefully true!

The iPhone needs its own event. Show us more than 10 features and DON'T GO OVER THE FEATURES YOU ALREADY TOLD US ABOUT! I can't stand it when they do this. Just show us the new stuff! I feel like they troll us so hard when they do this lol.

The vast majority of Apple customers do not hang around MacRumors every day hitting refresh. Marketing is all about repetition.

for kids, they always target the second hand market - iPhone 4, and soon to be iPhone 4S, with ATT started unlocking you can find plenty of iPhones

of course if the parents are signing a two year contract they will get new iPhone :D

18 of the 24 iPod announcements were held before or after the first week of September. 11 of the 24 weren’t held at any time in September.

not releasing an iPod in September is a sign of weakness? WTF?

hmm, are you sure about that? I include first and second week of september, I thought it is always iPod/Music related event

https://buyersguide.macrumors.com//#iPod_Nano

last few years iPod touch and iPod classic did not get updated

may be it makes sense, iPhone is the new iPod - in various price points going forward ...

just that i hate to see iPad Mini will not even be introduced... let alone the availability

iPod updates, yes. you had one whole year to prepare - design, develop and manufacture ...

remember, when iPods updated/introduced they were almost available immediate;

with iPhone it is different - with carriers and sheer demand.

again, iPod touch does not get updated yearly any more. the last update was two years back September 2010.

who knows finally apple may offer unlocked iPhones way cheaper than the entry price of $375 (iPhone 3GS)

I hope samsung sues apple for copying there idea for a small size screen, 'cause if apple can win a case with having a rectangular shaped phone with rounded out sides, samsung can win this battle. Apple is copying there idea. hahaha
I can think of a billion reasons why that isn't going to happen. hahaha

No actual 12 year old would put the apostrophe on the "'cause". Nice touch on the misused homonym, semi-careless capitalization and dumb "hahaha,", but I call a professional troll-job on this one. ;)

We're suppose to know the tech you own by your Join Date? Obtuse much? If you like the Nexus more... kudos to you. As far as your boycott, oh well. It sounds, by your purchase of the Nexus, that you didn't plan to support Apple anyway.

I don't understand you people who Hate apple because they created an amazing, game-changing device that upended the whole cell phone industry in MASSIVE ways and when their phone was mimicked, copied, ripped off... they sue to protect what they rightfully created. Jobs said back in 2007.... "and boy have we patented it" -- Apple went to Samsung in 2010 and told them to stop but they never did. Finally, it's almost settled and it'll be 2013 soon. Don't say that Samsung wasn't warned.

Enjoy your boycott -- and enjoy your second-rate phones.

ipad mini is pointless waste of money
Apple hasn't even announced the product... we don't know what it looks like, its internal specs, or the price point and you say it's a pointless waste of money. PERHAPS to you. I'm bettin' Apple sells millions of them this holiday and further reduces the amount of tablets other companies sell.

JGowan I love you LOL (Very well said)

Reminds me of the people who are up in arms about the USADA going after Lance Armstrong.

Sometimes cheaters get caught. Sometimes justice gets served. Deal with it.

Enjoy your "quality" Dell/HP and Samsung devices.

Hmmm... so you mean to tell me Apple which has only ever had a 9.7" screen, is now going to COPY Android tablets and release a smaller 7" range tablet???

Wow, so in our current mactopia, it's totally okay for Apple to copy, but not the other way around.

Funny how it works. So much for justice and equality eh?

What? Because Google has a patent on 7" tablets. Please know what you're talking about before you try to respond or defend ANYTHING. And you said look at your join date? That doesn't say much to be honest.

That's nice and everything however that doesn't take away from what I'm trying to say. We don't need another presentation about something they showed us in June. In the commercials/on their website they can show whatever they want to push as the main focus, however in a Keynote why review something you've already displayed? The media will blow up anything and once you have the media's attention you'll have the public attention. So market the features the media will be able to write about/something that's interesting and would garner hits.

I would assume the whole purpose for two separate events (if this is true) is to have more time to show us something or various things we've wanted. I know the new Maps app will take up a nice portion, but I just feel something big is going to happen and I can't wait!

ipad mini is pointless waste of money

To you it might be pointless but I bet a lot of people would buy it. Remember that Apple can't please everyone. We have not even seen the product yet and this is all just speculation so it might not even happen.

Keep an open mind before you brush aside something at "first glance" :)

I guarantee they're going to sell at least one. :D I've been holding off buying an iPad for three product generations, just hoping and waiting for exactly this product.

My only fear is - if it ends up being too low-end, I'll have to rethink things. I'm really hoping for a smaller iPad that still has all the functionality of its larger sibling. If there's a 3G version with 32 or 64 GB of memory, I'll be pre-ordering on day one. On the other hand if it's only available with 8 gigs of RAM - then it's going to be too crippled a device for me personally (no, I'm not speaking for all buyers everywhere). If it's somewhere in between... then I'll have to weigh the pluses and minuses.

Wow, so in our current mactopia, it's totally okay for Apple to copy, but not the other way around.

The only prolem is that this is not a 7" tablet, a rather important fact that everyone decides to ignore because it fits the story better.

There are a lot of people like me that bought an iPad 3 only to find that their girlfriend keeps it for herself. Now I'm stuck without an iPad. Should I buy another iPad 3. Nope. This is were iPad mini comes into the picture and why I need to buy one. :D
