Sept 12:
The New iPhone = Phil Schiller
iOS 6 Review and ship date = Scott Forstall
iMac Redesign = Phil Schiller
Mac Pro Redesign = Phil Schiller

Oct. (Lets say 10th):
iPad Mini + App Demos to show how easy it was to develop for it = Phil Schiller/Scott Forstall
Update to iWork for iOS = Scott Forstall
Apple TV SDK announcement and developer demos...it will ship in early 2013 along with a new Apple LED TV (but that won't be announced then). = Eddie Cue.

Um, Tim Cook said they're planning a MacPro update for 2013. No way will they announce Macs at the iPhone event. My prediction is the iPhone event will be all about the iPhone and the 2nd event will be smaller iPad and possibly updates to iPod line.

No troll, just conclusion from observation. Look at my join date. I've had an iPhone 4s since release date. A few weeks ago at the start of this trial, I sold it and bought a Galaxy Nexus.

Is the Nexus that much better? Of course not, but is it different? Very much so.

My point being, Apple has lost me as a customer. Not that they need my support, but over the entire course of my life, 30 plus years, I've never boycotted a company until now.

Help us all out and boycott this forum too. We're sick of the whining from people who willfully refuse to understand the law.

Apps will scale. The tablet will come in at 1024 x 768 just like the iPad 1 and 2.

While it helps a little bit that the resolution would be same, the fact remains that you're SCALING YOUR INTERFACE. Of course this doesn't matter for something like a video player or ebook reader, but for any type of app you interact with, this is a huge issue. A 120x40 button on a 7.85" screen is only about 80% the size of the same button on a 9.7" screen. You can't simply allow your graphics to scale down in all but the most simple of apps, so you have to increase the size of the controls in pixels (or more accurately, points) to maintain the same physical size. Only now, you're not scaling 1:1, so depending on the app, you may have to completely lay everything out anyway.

It's very easy to underestimate the amount of work that goes into building an app. I think that if people realized just how much is happening behind the scenes, it wouldn't be a $1 market.

Point is, I don't see the value in losing 2" for the consumer, and it is certainly a negative for developers.

Hopefully true!

The iPhone needs its own event. Show us more than 10 features and DON'T GO OVER THE FEATURES YOU ALREADY TOLD US ABOUT! I can't stand it when they do this. Just show us the new stuff! I feel like they troll us so hard when they do this lol.

I'm more excited about the software more than the actual design. Apple proved it makes beautiful phones. Now show us you still have great software as well. Also it's been extremely 'quiet' regarding anything groundbreaking. This could mean something great is near!

I 100% agree. Ios6 needs to have some things in the keynote that we don't already know.

I would have bought it, but, no more can I support such an evil empire.

Apple = Microsft of our generation.

Lol! Ok, so it was just PROVEN in a court of law that Samsung blatantly & intentionally copied Apple's legally protected designs, fully knowing it was against the law.

Your response: buying a Samsung Nexus to replace your Apple iPhone & sitting on a moral high horse, believing you're boycotting the "evil" company..?

ROFL!! If you're seriously not trolling, I feel sorry for you and your tenuous grasp on reality.

Macrumors, please stop posting iPad Mini rumors originating from Digitimes, iPad Mini will never ever happen... Steve Jobs would never allow it!!! Never!!! /s

Need one by 18 Oct, if you could be so kind

Dear Apple, heading over seas on 20th October, would much appreciate one of these in my bag before I leave.

Sounds more credible. Two events = more talk about Apple. If we sum up with iPad event in March, WWDC in June and iPhone + iPad Mini in Fall.. there would be non stop Apple talk all year long...

Will they start the keynote like.. "As you can see.. we stood by you in the court, we always battle for consumer rights" ;)

so no iMacs this year?

ugh

so much for doubling down on security. I feel like I know everything about the ipad mini and iphone already. the keynotes used to be so much more fun...

There are far more sources than Digitimes reporting this. Reliable sources. I'm afraid you're gonna be wrong on this one.

You're assuming doubling down on security referred to parts leaks.

I remember 2010 - we had 2 events in the fall.

There was the music event in early September and the Mac event in October.

So if they're releasing the New iPods (possibly minor updates) they could have it with the iPhone, which is what they did last year. And the (rumoured) iMac and (long-rumoured) 13" MBPR will get the October treatment.

Now for iPad mini, hopefully it's October (for me)! Busy fall for Apple!

simple mind

Huhhh??? Building iOS app is very very easy. Please. Just watch a university class on itunes, boom.

Maybe for you compare to excel macro or wysiwyg html builder like dreamweaver it is difficult. lol

With iphone5 apple only has 4 screen resolutions if you count old crap iphone 3gs. How many for computer, or how many for android? Wow, maybe you should make app for old palm pilot, no new screen sizes coming in future. lol!

:apple:

Don't ask me I'm just guessing :p I would believe in a January of 2013 update for iMacs (or later) than actually something this year.

Apple is distancing itself from personal computer as a fixed environment and concentrating each year it's efforts on mobile environment (laptops, smartphones, tablets).

I doubt Apple would create an event just for iMac or use the iPhone / iPad (in the basis that the rumor is coming true) to announce them, because usually these events are selfcentered in these devices.

Honestly, I hope I'm wrong and Apple hasn't forgot about all it's line up and updates it this year =)

I recently tried several text books in pdf format on both Android 7" and 10" tablet. Due to the 16:9 ratio on both tablets, the books lose considerable width and text is rendered smaller. On the 10" one, it's not bad but the 7" renders text too small for my eyes. I now know the iPad ratio of 4:3 is purposedly designed for text book. Given that, i hold reservation on the usefulness of the 8" iPad, though this may not be an issue for a lot of people. Nevertheless, iBooks and PDF reader both reflow text for novels. It's down to individual purchasing decision.

I hope you're wrong too but as we can clearly see that the iMacs have become like the mac pros :(

OSX is what what I truely like about apple.

Arizona

Please supply sources for these conjectures.

Thank you!

The source for an Arizona event will remain anonymous. My theory is not that Apple will produce or assemble a fully realized product in AZ but may announce a manufacturing partner that is producing components in the southwest US. :apple:

When new iPads come out do they drop the price of the old one right away? I am currently sitting on $700 at Best Buy and want to buy the current iPad, with no plans of purchasing the rumored iPad mini. I'd hate to pay full price now if they deeply discount it in Sept or October but if its not that much of a discount I wouldn't mind so much.

They usually drop around $100, but I don't think we'll see that in Sept/Oct. I think we may see an update with a new dock connector....but no discount on old dock connector units. Just my guess though.

I wouldn't let it stop you from buying unless you want the new dock connector.

What now? Amazon gonna take Apple to court?

If you're referring to Kindle Fire, it's basically a slightly tweaked version of RIM Playbook design-wise. From what I've read it's because they are designed by the same Taiwanese firm but I still couldn't believe RIM didn't have the foresight to have some sort of provision in their contract that prevent the design firm to re-use that design for a competitor.
