The garbage coating they use to color it anything other than black peels right off in no time.

I had a brown one on my iPhone 6 that had a wonderful patina after years of use. The blue one on my iPhone 12 looks like crap. Brown used to be brown through and through, but it too is now a tan coating over black. The leather cases sucked and I won't miss them at all.

I haven't been genuinely pleased with an iPhone case since the original, uncoated Speck Candyshell on my iPhone X. It, too, was canceled.
Remember when Steve Jobs would describe it as "Apple Leather" -- those were high quality products back then.

The techwoven case is NOT comfortable and definitely still feels like plastic
Because it is plastic. Apple should never have stopped producing leather cases. This year I got a very nice black leather case from Nomad, for my deep blue 17 Pro Max… 👍🏻

I had no issue with the 16 pro silicone case on a year of daily use.
I had one on my 16 Pro. Started peeling and breaking in a few spots. I rarely took the phone out of the case, so not sure where these stress breaks were coming from. Top left corner near the action button, and bottom near the mic/speaker grills/charge port.

I’ve tried multiple leather cases and they turn the phone into a brick and square off the edges. They are significantly thicker than say apples silicon. Is th nomad different?

Nomad is the closest I’ve found to the original Apple Leather Case. It’s the “traditional model” which means the sides are leather instead of plastic. The case is relatively thin w/ rounded corners & it sticks up just a bit to protect the face glass when you set it on its face. The only thing I don’t care for about it is the area sticking up around the plateau (to protect it) is plastic rather than leather, if it were made of leather I’d give it a solid 5 stars. The change from my iPhone 13 Pro Max w/ an Apple leather case to the iPhone 17 Pro Max w/ a Nomad leather case is barely noticeable.

You mind linking it?

Last night when I went to the Apple Store to look at the new iPhones, I was surprised to see that Apple's current bumper case is polycarbonate instead of silicone. About the only current source I was able to find online for bumpers made mostly or largely of silicone is ClixCase / Exoticase (https://www.etsy.com/listing/4346026362/colorful-silicone-bumper-frame), and some other smaller manufacturers that list on Etsy.
Thanks for taking the time to check! Maybe that will be a viable option when they create a case for the 17 series.
