Disagree. The Air is the best purchase I've waited to make. SE 2020 > Air 2025.

Weight: I found a metal bumper case that is 13 grams, total weight now is only 177 grams.

Once you own an Air, you never go back to the previous version.

Battery is what was expected. It goes 12hrs + without charging. I use it about 9hrs from 80% - 22%. I have a hard time preventing myself from charging the phone.

More positive reviews will be coming soon. Apple needs to hold off on making rash judgements about reception until people have had a chance to get their hands on one.

I don't care what most people buy. Most people want to take pictures with an orange phone in front of a mirror because there are advertisements for orange bricks everywhere, but those sales annoy me only because Apple will screw it up just like they did with the Mini. So hopefully there will at least be an Air 2. I don't want to switch from the Air to another neutral brick over time, that would be a downgrade!

I'm a firm believer that the iPhone Air is just a manufacturing proof of concept for a future foldable iPhone. Two iPhone Airs stuck together with a hinge and a flexible display. Instead of a flexible display, I'd rather see two normal display with no bezels, that just bump up against each other in the middle, but I doubt that is what they will actually do.

They just need to improve the battery on the Air as it depletes way too fast. Heard Apple wanted to try Silicon Battery tech for the Air but they instead opted for the more reliable trusted lithium ion battery.

Microsoft tried the two screen (not folded) thing with the surface duo and the cancelled surface duo 3 was supposed to have one screen that was foldable. That idea was a failure. If I want a foldable to open up and be like an ipad mini, with ipad apps, then a line down the middle wont suffice IMO.

Better battery capacity, better camera(s) with ProRes, better speakers...and you have best selling phone from Air. Otherwise it is really nice looking phone. Unfortunately there are not many who want to compromise on battery or cameras.

Unlike you I actually own and use the Air so let me help you out with your misinformation you are spreading:

The Air has a good camera, a good loud and clear speaker, and really good battery life. Its got the same battery life as the 16 Pro so now the Pro's have bad battery life too? This phone also has a feature that you get with it that the Pro's don't have: its actually nice and comfortable to hold and use (unlike the Pro's).

Seems you’re still in the denial stage about what most consumers want.

Hint: Most people don’t want to hear a new iPhone performs only as well as last year’s model. iPhone 14 and 15 weren’t well received when it came with last gen chips. Battery life is no exception.

So 1 month in without having any insights what the initial production was and now repeated stories about supply chain cuts ...
I rather wait until the calendar Q4 is over and see what Apple has to say before calling it a "fail"...
Is the Air for everyone? Sure not but people still buy and use it.
At the end of the day, Apple will decide as Apple surely had sales targets (which no one including Gurman and Kuo have no insight into) and we'll have to see how this impacts or not the future.

Very few are clamoring for this. Honestly, I think more people would prefer an Air sized version of the standard Pro. The general public doesn't want small phones. And sales have proven that. Multiple times.
The general public doesn’t want small (5.4”) iPhones, but maybe smaller than today’s gigantic size?

Also general public has proven that they don’t want a bigger plus sized iPhone, or a slimmer version of it. I honestly think one of the iPhone Air failure points is how wide (thus, uncomfortable to hold with one hand) it is.

And yes, I agree that a 6.3” version of the Air with the dimensions of the regular iPhone or the iPhone Pro like you said, would have convinced more people. Although battery life would have been ****. So maybe not a good idea either…

The idiotic “influencers” killed the product before it was given a chance.

They said it would break easily (it’s the most durable iPhone ever). They said the battery life is terrible (it nearly identical to the base 17). They said it’s missing cameras (90% of people take 90% of their shots using the main lens).

And yet Apple caters to these people who chase clicks for a living.
I may, for the first time make a video review of the iPhone Air, and the 10 different light weight cases I purchased on my own dime. That takes some time and effort. The influencers definitely have a large hand in pushing product. They also have all learned the sensationalization titles that all are opposite of what they what to say to get clicks.

My Air is outstanding, and I found the lightest weight case of 13 grams that makes the phone just disappear in my pocket, I forgot I had it on me the other day, doing stuff on my Watch instead. Only 30 minutes later found my phone in my pocket.

Too bad. It's nearly the perfect phone. Somewhere a hybrid of the Air and the Pro is a perfect device. Apple has never made a phone that feels as good to hold in the hand as the Air. At the same time it has major limitations with the camera.

Do you really think the 16 Pro battery life is that bad? You realize the Air gets the same battery life as the 16 Pro don't you?

Worth noting the first MacBook Air bombed. It was only when it was repositioned as the regular MacBook that it took off, again there's not much of a market for paying more for less, even with a cool form factor. Winding further back you then have the Power Mac G4 Cube, you guessed it, a failure because it cost more than Power Mac and came with less power and features. But damn it did look absolutely gorgeous.

This is what Apple is about, this is their soul. Not every product they make needs to be a huge sales success, can’t they just make beautiful pieces from time to time?

Some of us appreciate the artistry and engineering that goes into these more elegant products, even if they have shortcomings

We need whole day battery life not thinner phone. Almost everyone use phone cases which it counter all the effort of making phone thinner
Stop going on an on about battery life. Disagree. I get all day battery life, and I have to force myself to prevent charging. I found a case that is 13 grams, making the entire phone with a metal bumper case weight 177 grams. That is ideal for someone who hates weight, no need to carry an extra battery charger with you 100% of the time, if you need to top up, a quick Qi2 charge has a +50% in 30min.
