It would be interesting to see the results, world wide, rather than just 500 customers in the U.S.

I have the XR; haven’t seen anyone else around with one, yet, but given some of the “deals” I’ve seen from various mobile phone networks and stores, I suspect there will be a few more soon.

Could you in detail, explain specifically what Tim Cook lied about?
It’s not just in China where sales are down. Apart from the fanboys on here, people just aren’t interested in upgrading every year or spending a months mortgage payment on a device that is 0.5% better than the previous iteration

For me, it's okay. I like it, but if I could go back in time I'd have just kept my iPhone 7 Plus instead.

I totally respect your appreciation for the older design and I know a couple of people myself who also prefer it over the all screen design.

My comment was more in context to the negative feedback the XR initially received when folks would say silly things like “who would buy this when you can get a Xs for just $250 more?” The answer, so it would seem, is most people lol.

"from a survey of 500 U.S. Apple customers"
What exactly is your point? That sample size is sufficient to draw plenty of meaningful inferences.

An obvious conclusion from day one. In the U.S., the XR dominates because it offers most of the XS features and a large display. The vast majority of consumers are not display nitpickers nor care about 1.1mm of additional bezel.

But worldwide including Europe and Asia, I'd love to see how Huawei performs compared to Apple.

Agreed. I was surprised how much I liked the XR in the store.

I’m still yet to see anyone in public with a XR. I’ve honestly not seen anyone with one.

I’ve seen heaps of XRs.

Personally I’d got for one but the only thing stopping me is the lack of 3D Touch.

I don’t even care about the telephoto lens, 3D Touch for me, is a completely convenient feature that I use regularly, so that much I do appreciate having accessibility to.

I really like my Xr. With the large screen, it has kind of become my mobile assistant, great for reading documents, books, day planner, notes, email, finances....that sort of stuff. It is also great for content consumption; photos, videos, etc.. I love the portrait mode camera. It took great photos during the holidays.

Of course, if I need to create content, I pretty much use my laptop. Frankly, I don't often need to create documents or significant content away from the office in my house. Which kind of makes me wonder if I should go old school: Mac Desktop + Large iPhone. I already have a monitor, keyboard and mouse, so I could replace my 2014 MBA with a Mac Mini, when the MBA needs to be replaced. Anyway, the iPhone Xr has kind of opened some possibilities for me because I would never consider this with a smaller phone.

No matter what, it is 'doom and gloom for Apple,' as far as many here are concerned.

I predict the XR will help transition with the SE loving folks, as well as many Android newbies seeking to give iOS a try at a more affordable millennial price.

Nice to see the Xr kicking it like many suspected it was.

.....Glad my 6s is still kicking, and hoping there's at least one non-X iPhone offered next year in the iPhone 8 form factor with an upgraded processor/camera... iPhone 9?

There is still definitely a market for a iPhone that looks like an (iconic) iPhone. Given a choice between an Xr and a iPhone 9 Plus with the Xr's guts I would have to think long and hard...no UI compromises, power button that actually turns off the phone by itself, home button...it'd be tempting and I could see a chunk of folks just not upgrading. Whether that is worth the investment for Apple for a 9 is another question.

Or some people say a fully loaded android for $250 less.

They broke another sales record in 2018, so despite what AppleInsider DED were trying to spin, Apple is the one hit hardest in China. If we assume Tim Cook's word and December continued as it is, China has a 50% decline YoY.

I think Apple in EU is doing fine, not well or good, but just enough. Huawei is likely taking sales from Samsung.

It wont be long before we have full set of Data. But by 2020, we will likely see Top 5 manufacture dominate 85%+ of market sales. That is Samsung, Huawei ( Honor ) , Apple, BBK ( Vivo, OnePlus, OPPO ) and Xiaomi. That is Sony, LG, Motorola, Lenovo, ZTE combined to have less than 10% market shares. I am not sure how well MicroMax are doing in India, since the market is still 3 - 5 years away from maturity, may be they will put up a good fight. Nokia is rising and likely take more marketshare from the last 5.

Hopefully Tim Cook has a plan. ( iPhone Subscription )

At this point in time I suspect that pricing will ultimately be the death of 3D Touch. I would never buy a XR because I absolutely love 3D Touch, but this seems like pretty irrefutable evidence that Apple is beginning to price their merchandise out of the market.

If Apple would’ve adjust it as $750 dollars worldwide without inflations it could’ve been the worlds best selling phone.
You Americans don’t know how luvky you are, here in Sweden your $750-phone translates into a $1050-phone.
Luckily our country is still low compared to others.

Sounds like another pay-to-play marketing company disguised as research like JD Power.

Who in their right mind hires staff to do a survey of several hundred people for free? Even worked for a company that won a JD Power and was doubtful then.

Plus, only saw mostly pre-X and one or two X/Xs but zero Xr over the holiday.
