I think this shows that although innovation is one of the reasons for the falling sales of iPhone, it is not the only/biggest reason like some people think.

PRICE! $1500 for a phone, even $1000? Come ON!

It looks like SE sales grew percentage wise from last year.
You're reading the chart wrong.

The SE had about 7% last December and 0% this December. You're confusing your green bars.

If Apple would’ve adjust it as $750 dollars worldwide without inflations it could’ve been the worlds best selling phone.
You Americans don’t know how luvky you are, here in Sweden your $750-phone translates into a $1050-phone.
Luckily our country is still low compared to others.
You're actually lucky to live in a country that provides social services. We have to pay for lots of stuff that you may (or may not, I'm not an expert with Swedish daily life) get as part of your government services.

Plus, don't forget that our prices do not show sales tax, where your prices include the VAT (again, I'm assuming that Sweden is like the rest of Europe and has a VAT that must be included in the advertised price).

Again, it all evens out in the end ... probably.

Of course. "iPhone XR flop" brings in loads of of views and clicks by all the click-baiters on youtube and all over the web. Positive stories don't sell.
You can't get a second chance to make a first impression. The Xr exemplifies this notion like no other iPhone since the 5C (which incidentally is regarded as a complete and utter flop, yet was likely the 2nd or 3rd best selling phone model in it's 2 year run).

Wait, but the "apple sucks" kids swear it's the biggest failure in phone history, Tim's losing his job and apple will shut down next week.

Silly kids.

No surprise. This is mostly cost driven. But it’s also hard to justify the additional cost when most XR buyers are going with the $800 128GB version effectively making the XS and XS Max versions $250-$350 more expensive. The XR is 95% the XS at 70% the cost. I also believe the XR was intentionally delayed because Apple knew it would have impacted XS sales further. I know a number of people who cross shopped both and bought XR.

I have one.

The constant comparisons with the 5C needs to stop, the 5C was the 5 in different clothing when the vastly faster and superior 5S was out, while the XR is the XS minus a few things.
Absolutely correct. I’m actually shocked the XR didn’t have the A11 chip. Wolf in sheep’s clothes.

Seriously who is buying those iPhone XR I’m not seeing any in the flesh
I work with 3 people who have all bought the black 128GB models and have seen others at school.

That is genuinely surprising

Why? The XR is a solid, awesome phone. It doesn't make any compromises. It's not like using LCD instead of OLED somehow reduced the usability or user experience. Far from it. And the camera was rated at the top of the heap among all smartphones. The XR is a winner. Just need a smaller one now.

I would say the exclusion of 3d touch is a compromise to he honest.

After 1,5 month of usage I can certainly say the XR was the perfect choice for me.
  • Battery runtime is superior to anything else on the market. It's very hard to kill the battery in one day.
  • Screen is superb.
  • Camera quality is same as XS (except when using zoom)
  • Having real dual SIM (in my Hong Kong model) is making my life a lot easier (cheaper), unfortunately not available in the small XS.
  • Color option IMHO is still much nicer than what the XS offers
  • 3D Touch would have been nice, it's the only thing I really miss, but not a big deal.
Bottom line: Would buy again.

However, at least in Europe, the X is becoming quite popular as its price dopped to the same as the XR, making it often a better deal (for most people simply by the size of the phone - the X(S) imho is perfectly sized, while the XR is just at the limit)

For me the real surprise is the poor showing of the XS. I’m not 100% sure but to me the keynote launch put over the idea that the XS and Max were the main iPhone models and the XR was the “compromise to hit a mainstream price point” model. If the XS is only 10% of sales would Apple consider dropping the 5.8” model and going with XR and Max updates only?

Don’t believe all the lies from Tim Cook. It’s not just China, it’s a worldwide issue.
Tim Cook cannot lie as the CEO of a public company, unless he wants to go to jail.
[doublepost=1548625408][/doublepost]
Could you in detail, explain specifically what Tim Cook lied about?
He didn't like about anything, if for no other reason than he can't.

The revenue shortfall was over 100% China related. Intel and Samsung also blamed China in their results.
[doublepost=1548625542][/doublepost]
It’s not just in China where sales are down. Apart from the fanboys on here, people just aren’t interested in upgrading every year or spending a months mortgage payment on a device that is 0.5% better than the previous iteration
China was indeed over 100% of the revenue shortfall. Records were also set in the US, Canada, Netherlands, Italy, Germany, and Korea. So sales aren't down in those large markets. They also set records in emerging market such as Mexico, Poland, Malaysia and Vietnam. Records. Meaning sales were UP.

Sure, there were some other emerging markets that struggled, but those didn't make the biggest impact, or near it. CHINA was the main issue, echoed by Intel and Samsung.

Tim Cook cannot lie. Stop spreading nonsense and opinion without facts.

I don’t even care about the telephoto lens, 3D Touch for me, is a completely convenient feature that I use regularly, so that much I do appreciate having accessibility to.

I used the the keyboard cursor so often, it's what stopped me from using a SE and now a XR. I get annoyed when using the iPad because it doesn't have that feature available.

Even though my 6S has 3D Touch, I use the alternative method of invoking it, by pressing and holding the space bar, ever since I learned about it. Because when I use 3D Touch, the cursor has an annoying habit of jumping from where I had it as I release my finger. Not sure if others have this problem or if it’s something weird with my phone. I still use 3D Touch for other things, but not for moving the cursor.

Have the Xr and haven't had any problems with using the keyboard cursor.
