I genuinely believe the iWatch (or whatever the wristworn wearable device is called exists). Recent hirings and the announcement of iOS 8's health app point to it- but that's all we know.

Those recent hirings led me to believe Apple was a long way from releasing anything tangible.

I look forward to having some release or ANYTHING in the spring time. Waiting for end of summer and fall isn't wise Apple!

I think they need to move the iPhone up to late spring, early summer release. I want a new phone for the summer/trips, etc. Devices like tablets are much better devices for the holidays/school year releases.

I think Apple might announce the product in September/October, and then, like they did with the iPhone and iPad, release it a few months afterwards- maybe: November-January. Mainly because, the smartwatch competition is starting to get more competitive due to the release of smartwatches from companies running Android Wear- Apple will want to show consumers what they have got to offer.

Yay, delay once again

Delay rumors can mean an issue with the item or they can mean the analyst was wrong about the product existing or is fearful he is wrong and this is a butt cover move. They will never simply admit the they were wrong or played.

We've been seeing this for year with the 'real' TV which was supposed to come out like three years ago. But 'issues' keep delaying it.

Well, yes, maybe- however it doesn't make a announcement this fall any less likely- since it's a new product line. New product lines don't require as many employees and thus don't take as long, they aren't leaked as people who leak parts don't know what to look for and, if Apple goes by it's recent tradition, the product could be announced this fall and then follow several months later, much like the iPad and iPhone originally did.

Are you suggesting the iWatch will make a possible appearance at an iPhone event? Cuz it won't.

Assuming that it is real it might make an appearance even if it isnt hitting the streets for several weeks. Why? One reason and only one reason. The FCC. If it has to have clearance then apple will announce it before the FCC paperwork is required to go public. Because Apple hates anyone else announcing their stuff

As far as leaks go, we never saw leaks of the MacPro either. I'm sure it's easier for Apple to keep something brand new a secret unlike mass produced iPhone and iPads.

i'm not usually a conspirationist, but i strongly believe all these supposed leaks are nothing else than clever ways to raise the hype.
do people really believe an apple employee forgot a prototype of an iphone 4 in a bar? or maybe that's what started it all, they discovered it helped to get people interested in the product before its launch, since then (and that was even before the doubling down on security!) we always knew everything about the upcoming iphone in advance.

same here. I find plausible that Apple tried to investigate on a new, more complex product than a smartwatch. Then when they finally got to the requirements, they bumped up the hiring process, and the product developement.
Time will tell, but I believe that the iWatch is going to be very different than a "watch with a cool screen and sensors".

I completely agree. Much like when the iPhone and iPad were originally announced, they were released several months later. I wouldn't be surprised if the iWatch showed up as an announcement at an September/October event. I'd be competitive, in favour of Apple.

There is no watch. Apple are developing an implant that will pulsate in the palm of your hand when your time is up.

Earlier today in some hedge fund office:

Hey, analyst guy, the stock's going up too fast. We need some FUD to cool it off. Float the rumor that the thing we don't even know exists has been delayed again. Production problems. Yeah, I know we always say production problems, but it always works and nobody can confirm or deny it. Get on it! My yacht isn't going to pay for itself, you know!

Hope you shaved your arms

Anyways nobody wants an iWatch

This is the newton all over again.

Quote me in the future.

I disagree entirely- people didn't see the need for tablets- then came the iPad. If Apple markets the product correctly and shows off it's full potential, the product will capture a new market.

Didn't Tim Cook promise a lot of new products rolling out of Apple in 2014 (As he did in 2013). The year is coming to a close as the holiday shopping season is around the corner and what do we have to look forward to - not much it seems :(

These delays are only going to give its competitors more time to hone their products.

How long have we been hearing about rumors about this product - I'm not understanding why its been delayed so much.

Delayed based on what? When did Apple announce an "iWatch" and a release date? When have they ever confirmed rumors about this alleged device? Perhaps Apple is doing something different than just porting smartphone functions to a wrist worn device.

Maybe that's why we haven't seen any component parts leaked. It would seem an obvious move to announce an iWatch at WWDC so that developers could start building apps for it ahead of a general release a few months later. I very much doubt they would release it without a solid portfolio of apps to go with it. That's been the mistake all the other smart-watch makers have made. I wouldn't be surprised if they pushed it into 2015.

No seriously, we haven't seen new hardware (incremental upgrades don't count) in nearly a whole year from them. Which is unacceptable!

I disagree. In my opinion it is not 'unacceptable' to not release things. Especially things that are brand new or totally revamped.

What is 'unacceptable' to me is to rush things, creating half ass products etc, to fulfill someone else's timetable and demands. Be it the publics need for new bling, what Samsung etc are doing etc.

I would much rather that Apple do it slow and better than be like the other guys constantly tossing out new models etc.

Only care from a shareholder perspective.... Will it drive sales and stock share price.

My mechanical watch(es) are never leaving my wrist for a smart watch.....Apple or anyone else's!

I don't understand your comment, the ipad is not really selling well. Last I heard the numbers were not only going down but rather sharply.
