I wonder how much of a performance difference an ARM Mac will really have over an Intel one. Will it be faster or will it ever crash or get stuck in certain applications? I'm just not sure if I am ready for that change. I'll probably wait for the first couple of years after those devices have been released. I think the biggest hurdle will be to get all the current application makers who don't use the Apple Store platform to get on board with changing their apps to support ARM. I'm not sure how easy or difficult that process is.

Thankfully, I have an outgoing 13 inch MBPro i7 on order. I am hoping it should see me through the first few years of software issues that the ARMs are bound to have.

2018 15” still rocking strong, but I want a more leightweight device since the iPad is still far behind. I am really looking forward to ARM-based Macbook Airs.

This is what I would be looking for, but do these exist in a mobile format?

Hopefully though an AS macbook at 14” is released, no fans, long battery and competitive in speed.

I also agree that this is an iteration with basically a new OS rather than new hardware as such. And is definitely not the same as a new launch product like the phone, ipad, watch etc.
Because notebook GPUs are sold exclusively to OEMs, their existence is often not disclosed to the public until notebooks ship. This was the case with the 5600M - it appeared on AMD's site on June 15, the same day as Apple announced it.

Apple announcement.
AMD announcement.

I just need an intel based 16 inch 2020...that is all I need. hopefully with better camera and wifi 6.

this will be the update to the 2020 16"er ... 1080p front facing camera and the intel 11th gen chipset integrated with Wifi6 (but no 6e) and an updated radeon 5xxx graphics chipset
