Less feel good social stuff please.

More better products please.

I think the world could use more of this and less of the anger and discord. The products are fine for myself and others and I get you are unhappy with them which is fine.

Man that's a lot of bland, generic, unemotional B-roll footage...

Apple really needs to hire better directors to show off their cameras, by at least putting together a story.

Totally agree. That isn’t a particularily well shot or edited video. Some of the edits are just plain bad. I have no idea why this is at the forefront of showing off what an iPhone can do.

This can be done with any flagship grade cellphone. I've been watching these types of videos for a while now. Regardless, it allows amateurs to get into film making without spending a stupid amount of money.

what's the point of this?? Do people actually see those and go... Well, i'm going to spend 1500 dollars on that phone now.

The ad support our brothers from that place. I already paid 4 me iPhone Xs but this iz pure art dud

Apple has shared a new "Shot on iPhone" video on its YouTube channel that presents a portrait of Eddie Siaumau, a 17-year-old athlete from American Samoa who has just accepted a full-ride scholarship to a NCAA Division I university.

The small island of American Samoa, nicknamed "Football Island," is a U.S. territory in the South Pacific Ocean that reportedly produces athletes who are around 56 times more likely to play in the NFL than Americans from anywhere else, a stat that Apple cites in the description of the video.

Apple says the video is shot on an iPhone XS with the aid of a DJI Osmo Mobile 2 smartphone gimbal, the FiLMiC Pro app, and a few other accessories. The video is directed by Steven Counts and produced by Heather Zara.

Awesome Ad!

Why are the comments disabled on ALL apples youtube videos? Seems so evasive!

It's beautifully shot but the message is a sad one of religious indoctrination and fantastical odds that most certainly won't pan out for this kid with pretty much nothing else but farming or the military left for him! I mean it's depressing really.

Ok ....
Who is the target of this video?

If I were looking to purchase a phone ...
What would this ad tell me ?

The iPhone takes great video ? meh most phone already takes great video already
The video was edited on the iPhone to show the processing power of the CPU ? Not shown in the ad..

So what does video story tells this tell me?
An island boy who loves his island and the only option he has to “escape” or “contribute” is to either play football or join the military?

Is it to highlight that Samoa are not legally American citizens ?

Is Apple making a go fund me to increase awareness of the island social inequality as a American territory ?
Is Apple funding the boys scholarship ?

Weird ad...Purpose?

Because So What, Who Cares.

It makes me feel better about myself then the latest Gillette ads.

I read about this here in Germany and it made us laugh. They posted a best of youtube haters comments with people saying like "what's next, they wanna make us shave legs?", "let the kids play, it's just a little blood", "women dressing like that want to get touched and looked at" and so on. Did some Americans really get pissed cause someone said its a good thing to separate fighting kids and its a good thing not to offend women? Am I missing something? :)

No-one finds it funny that Apple is pushing "shot on a iPhone" like any one could do it; but then saying The video is directed by Steven Counts and produced by Heather Zara?

Yes. They say “I’m into mobile filmmaking and the quality of the video here is what I’m looking for so, as I’m going to need a phone anyway, getting one that also enables me to do more with my craft is a good option.”

That video showed off the ability to capture great color and significant dynamic range in an extremely mobile form factor.

Do you really not know? Are you seriously not able to discern this? Or is criticizing things you don't understand easier than thinking?

It's to showcase the upper end of what the camera is capable of. To serve as an example for the press, professional shooters, and influencers. If/when they decide to make videos with an iPhone, it generates even more PR/buzz and elevates the status of iPhone as a serious cinematography tool for professionals, which trickles down to boost its cache with prosumers, who in turn influence their less technical friends when it comes time to buy a new phone.
