If you're paying over 4000 dollars for a Mac, it would be lovely that pro apps may be redeemed for free on the App Store

If you're paying 4K for a mac, a mere $200 for Logic Pro X isn't too much. Because if you're a pro who needs "pro apps", LPX will pay itself and you won't even feel it. There's absolutely no reason for Apple to give it for free, that's why Garageband exists.

Especially when other similar music apps are generally WAY more. Pro Tools, DP, Cubase, etc.

I’m just wondering how much longer Pro Tools can ride the “industry standard” nostalgia. I never hear anything great about it other than you have to use it because, you know, “industry standard”.

And it seems like the long established DAW developers who are seeing their market share slip are reacting by screwing their loyal users with subscription revenue models. Good luck with that. Guess they don't know how competition works.

Probably not much longer. I live and work in Nashville, and it's not really the "standard" here anymore. I'd say about 1/3 of studios are using it. That subscription plan will be the final nail in the coffin. And I will dance on its grave. There are more people using Logic, Nuendo, and to a lesser degree, Cubase now than ever before.
