Apple's Long-Rumored 'homeOS' Possibly Trademarked Ahead of WWDC

They really should bring back the iPhoneOS name.

iOS alongside iPadOS
is like
fruit alongside banana

Why not:
tvOS
macOS
homeOS
watchOS
visionOS
iPadOS (or padOS)
iPhoneOS (or phoneOS)

Just call the whole lot AppleOS and stop messing about.

Yes clearly the OS's are customised for different devices and are technically different but the vast majority of features are shared and from marketing stand point launching a thousand OS's every September is just horrible.

Next year lets have AppleOS 27. Any device specific features can be described as "what's new in AppleOS for your iPhone' etc.

Maybe a homeOS would not be a bad thing, but I tend to agree with @tomtad and skip all the naming conventions except the year…so AppleOS26 could be just fine. Just take the holistic view, consider the entire ecosystem, focus on it ALL working at a high level of harmony including CarPlay, and move on from there. We get it that each piece has different hardware requiring different drivers but overall functionality and interoperability issues are the same.

Get back to: “it just works.”
