Yeah, people are getting really emotionally invested in something which is only rumors. This is something not intended for them, which is why they gleefully want it to fail.

What I think it will be:

Smaller but a bit thicker than a MacBook Air.

12/256 to start

MagSafe + 1 or 2 USB-C
Well it NEEDS to have that, that's like the base of the Mac, then it may not have other features like 12mp camera, 4 speakers system and more... I would like something better of course, otherwise I wouldn't buy... Personally I might want a second Mac at some point so it might be a good option but feels like no...

Hopefully without a notch.
Apple is obsessed, absolutely addicted to the Notch… secondarily to the Dynamic Island.

Yes I know it’s the components placed in this area that gives them a reason to justify it.

However what many people are unaware of or deny is the fact that the Notch is also a clever Styling Cue, making the device instantly recognizable as an Apple product.

It is intrusive as currently implemented and quite annoying.

I don't necessarily disagree with you, but considering there are several ways to easily hide the notch, it's kind of a non issue.

Rumors are going worse and worse for this trash MacBook, mate 128gb only? No MagSafe?.. It might be even worse than the m1 MacBook Air with his 12.9 inch display…
First day talking about Apple's products?

It's a cheap Macbook that'll probably cost $599 so it can compete with Chromebooks for education systems, or for kids getting their first laptop.

Do you expect Apple to release a colorful M5 laptop with MagSafe, a 4k OLED screen, and 512 GB of storage of $599? Get real.

I just want a Mac that it better than M1, not a dumb copy of it !

This poor little laptop is going to struggle with Tahoe.
Yeah that’s the point, some 8gb users are struggling with it and then boom another 8gb of ram Mac…

TRUST if this Mac does not have at least 12gb of ram, it’s trash ! You can say whatever you want like oh Chromebooks have 4, well ok but macOS will require more and you are paying more for a better experience!!

Apple has kept things pretty tight on this product.

If it weren't for Kuo first breaking the news 6 months ago, we'd all be debating what J700 meant. Some people would actually believe Apple is launching glasses on March 4.
Yes, rumors are good to keep people "wanting", but I personally miss the days when I was surprised and a "wow" moment when Apple launch a new product.

Like when Jobs introduced the MacBook Air. When he pulled it out of the envelope it was a "What the..!?!" moment that made you run to the Apple store to check it out or buy it. That was a "Wow" moment.

Now..launch day is "just" to see what has been already said.

I don't know why Apple picks and chooses who to go after as far as "leakers", especially Gurman. You would think he is on the payroll and part of marketing.

Yes definitely agree with you, but since those times, social media, the internet and peoples obsession with instant gratification has changed everything especially how fast information moves around.

Macs have been lagging behind iPhones in a wide range of hardware areas for a long time now.

And how many Mac’s that you personally own that you base this on? I’m not talking about irrelevant specs that you read but actual personal experience… because after owning numerous Mac’s and iPhones these past few years, and doing real work on them not just complaining on MR I disagree 100%. I can do work on the Mac’s that I would never contemplate on my phone.

It's exactly why Gurman joined Bloomberg a decade ago: to get journalistic and legal protection. He's immune and his sources are protected.

How anything thinks Gurman is on the "payroll" is beyond me. He has written countless articles on Apple Car and Vision Pro failure and reported on Apple AI delays.
