I was having Samsung Galaxy Tab 7+ and sold it recently, contemplated between S9 Ultra LTE vs iPad Pro 13 M4 1 TB. Decided to buy iPad Pro 13 inch 1 TB Cellular along with Magic Keyboard. But to be frank, I loved my S7+ 12.4 inches AMOLED Screen with Android flexibilities (Micro SD Card, WhatsApp, Mobile Phone for example). iPad OS and Apps are not really made for iPad in many cases. Magic Keyboard is really good but it is always going backward while having it on the lap due to weight - I should have opted for a cheaper third party keyboard than Apple Magic Keyboard and saved $200 at least . The trackpoint pointer is also bit annoying shape. I bought third party Pencil for $20 which is really serving the purpose though I do not indulge in any drawing stuff. My iPad has a problem with the iMessage for the corresponding Cellular number which I am trying to resolve with Apple Support (iPad doesn’t allow SMS message for OTP verification for iMessage activation - kind of frustrating). I find iPad just an elongated iPhone. I never used iPad for a very long period (last one used for 2nd Generation iPad). iPad hasn’t grown much except for the hardware and the OLED screen. But those apps which are turned for iPad OS are doing great.

Samsung win on one useful feature: Micro SD Card slot.
Adding a USB C stick works but hangs out. Not elegant and can chew battery.

This one feature makes it so easy to expand memory and carry around a lot of media content and easy transfer on a desktop/laptop.

Apart from that, iPads pretty much win on every other feature or tie.

The biggest surprise here is that Samsung thought it was a good idea to put a notch on a tablet: even Apple has yet to make this particular sin against good design. 🫢

Samsung may need to dial back the Courage™ just a little.
Does Apple have a 14.6" tablet? Why you comparing then? The Samsung Tab S9 (11") and S9+ (12.4") do NOT have a notch so not sure why you are comparing notches to Apple?

Does the Samsung use the duel OLED panel thing? If not, and the screen is barely any difference, it suggests the Apple talk about how amazing duel layer OLED is is just nonsense.
No, Samsung uses a single layer and their technology is not the same as the iPad Pro.

I don't know where the writer gets that there's barely any difference.

From Tom's Guide analysis of the S9 Ultra "The tablet’s screen got as high as 834 nits of brightness when displaying HDR content on 10% of the display and 878 nits of brightness for 40% of the screen (765 nits for 100%)."

Those numbers don't match the iPad.

S9 is bigger, therefore heavier. Just take a Tab S9+ (12.5 inch) instead.

Instead of universal control you have multi control on Samsung which not only works on the notebook and tablet, but guess what, also on your Samsung phone👍I am enjoying right now😊

The screen is a bit more reflective, but the upcoming Tab S10 Ultra will have the same anti-reflective coating as S24 Ultra which would make it unbeatable.

One more thing: my daughter enjoys her Tab S9+ on her Pool Lounger every day without being afraid it could fall into water which happened already twice😊
While the S24 Ultra's screen has a great antireflective coating, the oleophobic coating degrades way faster than on any other devices. I know it because I used the S24 Ultra for 6 weeks and after a month I just started to notice how the screen was gross, it didn't even matter if I cleaned with a wet wipe or microfiber thing. So I wouldn't hold my breath for that coming to a device that could be used by more than 1 individual.

Also its important to consider that the entire range of the Galaxy Tab S9 series (Entry level S9 to Ultra) have 120 hz Adaptable refresh screens (i.e. Promotion). As we all know the iPad Air and Mini have 60 hz screens which is criminal in 2024.

I own a 6th and 9th gen iPad as well as an S7 Plus. I still prefer the iPad's over my S7 Plus which is solidly built in its aluminum casing and looks very attractive. The sound from the S7 Plus is fantastic as well.

I prefer the aspect ratio of the iPad over the Samsung tablets although quite puzzling, they copied the iPad's aspect ratio with the S2 tablets but now are back with the 16:10 layout. The one thing the Samsung tablets have is Samsung TV Plus which for a free streaming channel is quite good. So if I had to choose between an iPad Pro or S9 Plus, i'd pay for the iPad Pro. What we don't know, is what the specs for the S10 Plus will be and those should be revealed in the next month or so, because the new Samsung tablets get released typically in August.

Very happy with my 11" iPad Pro M4 2TB with Apple keyboard. The USB-C slot in the keyboard hinge allows for an ethernet cable connection while the iPad is plugged into power or has an external data device. Seems very versatile to me.

I recently received a new iPad Pro 13” to replace my still powerful 2020 12.9” and I was going to wait to set it up until my Magic Keyboard cover arrived but my curiosity got the best of me so I went ahead and transferred everything over and I gotta say this thing is really amazing. I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about the nano-texture glass but it’s growing on me. The OLED display is gorgeous. The thinness and light weight is super nice to have, it makes it much easier to use and hold. It is ungodly fast, maybe too overpowered. Having 16GB of RAM and 5G will keep it usable for years to come (not to forget the M4 chip).

All in all it is an impressive upgrade over the 2020 equivalent but it does come at a steep price. I’m very sure, however that I’ll be happy with it long term.

The larger widescreen on the S9 Ultra was really attractive to me and why I bought one to try out. I've owned multiple Android phones and tablets in the past and worked a lot on custom ROMs so Android wasn't a big issue for me. But the high reflectivity of the S9's screen was a deal breaker for me and why I returned it and use the 13" M4.

Funny that you keep bringing up this reflective screen on the Ultra. Mine has no reflection at all. My iPad has more reflections.

The bad news: you can't buy replacement nibs with the rubber tip. You have to buy a new pen. ?

And you clearly don't know what you're talking about. You can buy replacement nibs everywhere. I highly doubt you even used the device. Do you honestly believe that Samsung is going to release a pen and make you throw it out when the tip wears out? No that totally sounds like an Apple thing to do. I'm surprised Apple doesn't make their pencil a one time use.

And this is coming from someone who's always prefer that iPad aspect ratio for many years. But 16x10 is a far better aspect ratio for everything. You see way more content when in portrait since it's pretty much like having a monitor in portrait. There's a reason why monitors are 16:9 and 16:10 and not 4:3.

Multitasking on 16x10 with two apps by side is perfect. Doing that on an iPad in either orientation is way too narrow. And who cares about wasted space on the sides when in landscape? Depending on how much you scale your text It isn't even that much wasted space. Laptops are no different. So I guess all modern day laptops have wasted space? I'd rather have that than black bars that take up half of the screen when watching videos.

Well, thanks for letting us all know what you think people should be doing, I suppose.

You can buy tips - they're the same as the Wacom Pro Pen 2 nibs, solid plastic. But not the tips with the tiny rubber insert that the S-Pen comes with. If you can find them for sale, please show me. The rest is just personal preference. A tall, wide portrait screen at a comfortable drawing angle creates all sorts of problems for me and how I draw which may be down to my personal limitations.

I agree to a certain degree on the multitasking, but for me the strength of a tablet is it‘s a great focus device. All this multi windowing is just distracting. Also “multitasking” starts to fall apart on smaller tablets Like the tabs S9+ or iPad Pro 11.

And when you use the tablet in full screen, 4:3 is better for everything except video watching, including spreadsheets, as you can see more row content on a taller screen.
There’s a reason many prefer the taller screens of the surface laptops for example.

Monitors are usually bigger screens, and then it starts to make more sense to go wider.

Im pretty sure I've seen aftermarket rubber tips. After thinking about it, Im not sure rubber is the best long term as they don't last near as long as plastic.

I always thought the 4:3 ratio on ipads was better for everything, trust me Im a big fan of the ipads aspect ratio. Even when I bought my M1 ipad in January of 2022, and the S8 series came out shortly after. I really considered switching to the S series. My Best Buy only had the S8+ on demo so I was only able to judge off of that and I didn't like it because like you said, it felt too tall and too narrow. So I kept the ipad and I never got a hands on experience with the S8 Ultra and I never bought one because I just assumed it was more of the same.

But when I got the S9 Ultra recently, it completely changed my opinion on all of that and I think it's mainly due to the larger screen. It makes all the difference. On the S9 U, because the screen is so big, you see much more content in portrait and slightly more in landscape compared to my Ipad 11". I compared them side by side once I got my preferred scaling settings dialed in. After using it for everything since then, I much prefer the 16:10 on the S9 Ultra for everything. The ipad 11" feels tiny in comparison.

Ive also used 3:2 Surface Pros for many years and I loved the aspect ratio. I love that aspect ratio so much that I even considered buying a portable 3:2 monitor for my laptop but they're very hard to find. Before I bought the S9 Ultra, 3:2 for portable displays was actually my preference over 16:10 or 16:9. I really value the vertical space.

But now after owning another 16:10 device, I see all the benefits. My last device that I had that had a 16:10 display was a laptop from over 15 years ago.

I feel 3:2 went perfect on a smaller screen in making it feel that much larger, such as the Surface Pro. But I don't think I could even go back to a 3:2 screen on a large device like the S9 Ultra. So my point is, I think the larger screen size on the S9 Ultra has a bigger effect than the aspect ratio. It doesn't make the device feel too tall or too narrow at all.

For me, it's not really the hardware that's the issue. It's the available software. iPadOS is already tight as it is, when compared to desktop OSes. Android is even worse. I don't hate Android, I just can't do what I can on iPadOS, which I can't do on what I can with MacOS or Windows 11.
