Oh I understand...
Most people are stupid.
[doublepost=1509708785][/doublepost]
It's mechanically inferior and prone to breaking.
And some people don't like the feel of it..
My mom owns a new MacBook Pro. She wouldn't know how to do that. Ignorance is not stupidity. You made that erroneous leap, not I. I get that. But this idea that there's some kind of universal hatred for the keyboard is simply arrogance. "I dislike it therefore everyone (or even, the majority, or even a large minority) must also dislike it"... Preposterous.

Who else took part in this? I did, I got myself a 2017 Macbook Pro w/TB 512GB.

I didn't. My current Mac mini mid 2011 is getting long in the tooth, but there's not a sensible replacement for it at the moment, especially when the 2014 model was neutered as badly as it was. A laptop would be nice, but currently they're not making a single model I'd like to buy.

We need to look for companies that sell good hardware, provide good after sale services, and make laptops that can be turned into a Hackintosh.

As I recall, about 10 years ago companies like MSI sold components for end users to build their own laptop computers. Anybody tried that?

About 10 years ago there actually was a company which "accidentally" produced perfect Hackintosh laptops. I had a bright yellow "Hacbook" which cost me less than half of the price of the actual Mac. But it was some Chinese company and I don't think it exists anymore.

I'm using the 2016 rMB and keep on waiting for another company to come up with anything as good and cheaper. It's either/or at best. But generally three generations of rMB later there is still no competition I would rather buy if it ran macOS.

Yes they are the best.

This is like all the people that said it was all doom-and-gloom for Final Cut Pro X.

Depends upon your requirements. For me they are no longer the best. If you disagree show me an Apple laptop that has a matte screen option, and can have more than 16GB RAM. And I also want a keyboard with more than 0.5mm key travel.

The biggest thing that I've seen holding people back from replacing rMBPs that are now showing some wear like mine is that Apple was unable to come out with 32Gb models because Low Voltage RAM was limited to 16Gb on Intel's chipsets. When Intel at last starts selling chipsets that will allow Apple to use >16Gb of RAM without resorting to hotter thirstier desktop RAM, I expect Apple will see a significant uptick in sales.

Resorting to desktop RAM in order to get around Intel's 16 Gb Low Voltage RAM limitations is _NOT_ producing better machines.

One hopes that you will take your whining to the HP & android forums.

The RAM issue is the main reason I decided to ditch them. I still prefer OS X and iCloud, but Apple gave me no choice. And once they stopped developing the Mac Pro there was no reason to buy any Apple kit when it came time to upgrade. I'm all Windows now. I do like to keep an eye out on what's going on though as I would like another Mac. Apple just don't make one I want.

It is. The pros don't use Final Cut anymore.
[doublepost=1510108461][/doublepost]Honestly, the new rMBP was more of a downgrade from the 2015 models, which is why I bought an older one they had in stock instead. New one: Not faster by a significant margin. Worse keyboard and trackpad. More expensive. And cmon, I'm not going to buy a laptop I can't plug an SD card or a USB device into.

I am PROUD to post in my first thread ever on Macrumors! I hope to have a great time with this community, forums can be such a great thing especially for people like me, who like to stay at home, or isolate themselves often! I'm not introverted but I'm not extroverted, I'm one or the other depending on my mood!

Anywho, I purchased my first Mac product this year and it was actually just on the 18th of October. The 15 Inch Macbook Pro 512GB model in Silver. I am so glad! I just went with the Silver because I've never had a Mac before and the BestBuy didn't have the Space Grey in the model I wanted, and I actually had asked him specifically for the Silver so that's what I was hoping for! And it's so gorgeous! Silver is like white mixed with rainbow!! If that makes sense to anyone, haha.. maybe I'm just odd

I'm sorry if I was a bit off topic, but I figured I'd say, that Woo! I am part of the people who helped Apple reach this number! I find it impressive that they managed to sell so many especially with people seemingly less interested with full-laptops these days and more interested in tablets/touchscreen things.

Maybe we're in a shift but I'll always love a keyboard, and I'll never like touching the screen until the screens are incapable of getting fingerprints/smudges on them.. It may happen, who knows.. I'm thinking perhaps Apples next keyboard or maybe not next, but the one after that, will be a giant touchbar, so you'll be able to use it for touchscreenesque things, but it'll also act as the keyboard, it'll feel natural with haptic feedback, and allow a bit slimmer overall design. The only thing to make it even slimmer is to make it charge wirelessly and remove the ports, or something.. Ha, but we need ports. I love the USB-C/THUNDERBOLT-3 ports, they have been a dream so far, not a single complaint. It's very easy to find new wires with USB-C and I'm sure more will pop up too, making the market oversaturate! Which will be nice! Adapters/Cables/Maybe new kinds of SD cards that use USB-C. Who knows.

I have found great usefulness in the touchbar by the way? I'm wondering how people have been feeling about it and the new keyboard! I love the new keyboard it made me want to buy the Macbook Pro right there, so I did! It inspires me to work and get my work done well! I really love the new keyboard and dislike the older style keyboards comparatively.

The trackpad also immediately impressed me. I am coming from an Acer laptop and I used a mouse. I always have loved mouses, until I used the trackpad on the new Macbook Pro. It's so responsive and it works so smoothly and well that I instantly felt as if I had been used to using it for years. Anywho, I've been going on here for a while. Have a good one MacRumor Family!

PS
I have used many Powerbooks in the past, and even a earlier, say 2009 or so, macbook pro! I was lucky enough to have a school which pushed technology and used it a lot, they had powerbooks since 2003 for all of the students. I was lucky enough to be given 1 of 2 macbook pros for whatever reason, it was the only computer left and I am often last in line because I was a year older and just always felt like letting the rest of my classmates go first. So I was just lucky.. Unlucky though after the screen mysteriously just cracked while I had the laptop on my lap?? Perhaps it had been damaged or something before I had used it and the cracks were just waiting to appear? Either way, you can imagine how weird it was to tell my principal that it just randomly cracked.. Luckily, I had another student who was sitting right beside me at the time who could vouch for me.. I even told the principal, "Do you really think I would make up a story like that Madam, don't you think that if I was going to lie to you, that I would at least make up something that's somewhat believable, who in their right minds would tell you that it just randomly cracked unless it was actually true?" And she believed me, because after all, that was pretty true.. why would I make up such a horrible story.. it's because that's really what happened.. the student who vouched for me couldn't believe it, it was odd because I mean, those computers were really strong all things considered!
