25 eh?

Happy 25th :apple:

That means I was only 7 when they released it... Gosh, can't believe I started on a IIe (well my dads that he used to bring home anyway!!!) and how much they've progressed. Hmm, still miss the days of Captain Goodnight and David's Midnight Magic (pinball) and Montezuma's Revenge!!! :D Just wish I could find them cos they'd bring back some fond memories!

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5G77 Safari/525.20)

Happy birthday macintosh.

So where are the new Macs?! You though Apple would celebrate by releasing some new **** to its fans, eh? Where's the bling-bling appel!

Been waiting all week to say this....Happy B'd Mac! I started out with a IIc and then became lost in the wilderness. Came back to a G5 PPC. iBooks for the wife and youngest daughter. Convinced my older daughter to return from the "dark side" and she now has a MacBook Pro....what a beauty(that would be both of them). Unfortunately, my oldest son still resides on the "dark side" but there still time. "Hellooooooo, Craig can you hear me??????":)

Anyway, gonna go out and put a new Apple sticker on my car as the old one is a bit faded. Happy B'day Mac and best wishes for a speedy recovery to Steve.
Cheers

BTW, does anybody know how many different Mac models there have been? (I think I lost count over a decade ago.)

Counting the Apple series (pre-Macintosh 128k)? And also, define Mac.

Without the Apple line, there have been 482 revisions of products (including peripherals and iPod/iPhone).

There have been 27 computer product lines (this is a rough estimation by where I cut updates off from one another).

Also, the Apple TV, the QuickTake cameras, the iSight (and earlier QuickTime videoconferencing kit), and a bunch of displays, keyboards, printers, scanners, AirPort base stations, mice, and the Newton.

With the Mac hitting age 25, I guess it's probably about time I switched to a Mac from this IBM PC XT with PC-DOS. But do I really need more power than a 4.77 MHz processor and 128KB of RAM? Will I have to switch to Numbers instead of Lotus 1-2-3? Will my floppy disks still work? Is there a good version of Pong available if I want to play games?

Happy 25th Mac!

I was convinced that Apple was going to host an event today introducing the new Macs. It would have been so fitting. 25 years, and look where we've come!

Oh well, we can always dream.

happy B-day Mac!

Am typing this on a 24" alu iMac with a luxo sitting next to me waiting to go to a new home tomorrow. iPhone in its cradle, 160 classic iPod on the speaker dock, 4G nano in my coat pocket, MacBook in my briefcase. Have a Mac TV gathering dust in the bedroom, a 6100 gathering dog hairs on the floor, and an SE that needs a new hard drive at work.

yes, I love Macs!

I can believe there are at lest 50 of theses and prolly 100 IIe's in the basement of my school no one looks at. I realy wanna steel one. its not like anyone would notice :D

So, let's play "What's wrong with this picture?"

Something is amiss with the photo leading off this article. Can anyone spot it?

Hey, get me one too. Actually get me two so that I can combine some of the IO cards. :)
Those were the days. Stealing I/O boards and fully loading the motherboard.

Wow. Check this out.
They are all there. The great great great grandfathers of computing.

I was an Apple II guy growing up. Apple //c, Apple //gs. Apple discontinued the Apple II line (to my dismay at the time), so I got a Mac IIsi for college. Later upgraded to a PowerMac 7500. PowerMac G3, I think next. PowerMac G4 Dual 800. Now on a Mac Pro 2.6GHz Dual Xeon.

figured I'd share. :)

Wow, you have such a beautiful family. You brought tears to my eyes. :(

I've been Mac for quite some time, too, but 'only' since the Plus. This BBC web page about the 25th birthday includes a video of a UK MSN employee testing the original Mac against her modern Windows PC. There's a lot of toasting involved in running the Mac!

Hahahahaha OWNED in the startup speed. Apple ftw, only started using 2 years ago, but its still blazing fast. Hope to see apple in 25 more years!

I'll play...

I believe the original Mac only supported single-sided 400k floppy discs. I see a box of 2DD disks there. Probably wrong but my guess anyway.
