Apple today announced that its new Marina Bay Sands retail store in Singapore will open at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, with Apple calling it the company's "most ambitious retail project."

The Marina Bay Sands store appears to float on Marina Bay and its all-glass dome assembled using 114 pieces of glass is a one-of-a-kind construction.
Inspired by the Pantheon in Rome, an oculus located at the apex of the dome provides a flooding ray of light that travels through the space. The interior of the glass is lined with custom baffles, each uniquely shaped to counter sun angles and provide a nighttime lighting effect. With trees lining the interior of the dome, the green garden city of Singapore flows into the store, providing additional shading and soft shadows through the foliage.

The store, which will be staffed by 148 employees who collectively speak over 23 languages, includes not only the usual product display areas and massive video wall anchoring The Forum, but also Apple's first underwater Boardroom for business meetings, training, and private events.

Apple Marina Bay Sands is the company's third retail store in Singapore, and opening-day visits will be by reservation only with reservations made through the store web page.

It's amazing that Apple is still investing millions in it's retail strategy, even though we are in a global pandemic!

Very beautiful structure. The beauty will definitely last through the ages. Simplistic, elegant, art!

These kind of projects are designed and prepared years before they start and eventually finish.
Obviously, with being in September 2020, there was not such a thing as Covid19 when they started this, and not even when they start building it.
Apart from that, if everybody would stop investing in projects, life would come to a complete standstill, making things even worse.

I had thought they had another floor in the top half.
Perhaps even an Apple Café where people could get a great outside view from inside of the top of the sphere.

Yet it seems the top half is completely empty space. Nothing but air and shades. The same shades they have on Apple Park I presume.
Somehow it seems to be a waste of something that could have been a great relaxing and viewing spot.

Building a store doesn't happen overnight, or weeks, or even months. This store probably has been in the plans for years, and opting out abruptly would probably cost Apple even more money for breaking many contracts.

This is hard to visualize. Anyone with an architecture background mind breaking that down.

Awesome! I feel like this also confirms that new products are coming this week too. I’ll probably never get to see this store in person, but it’s cool.

Looks stunning. I live in Singapore and can't wait to check this out, but it'll be rammed for a while so i'll let the queues go down. In the meantime the store on Orchard Road is still a lovely spot (I was there only today).

Can’t wait to visit it too, at least until the Covid travel stuff relaxes down. I’m sure the Orchard Road store is still their flagship store.

Personally, I’m liking the Jewel store, as it is usually less crowded and can be visited when you’re on your way to/from the airport.
