I know we like to discuss ecosystems, but some forget that a lot of us are not trapped whatsoever. We all can choose alternatives at any time. Hoping for Apple fans that iOS 17 represents a lot of change against your concerns.
I remember when I got the Z Flip 4, I definitely felt the pull of the Apple Ecosystem. But my wife still has her 13PM, and I have the backup SE. I want to know what it is like for the ones with no more connections to Apple after they switch.

With Samsung's S23 Ultra, DEX, Camera, and performance leap, expect Apple to sustain a downward trend.
They can't even manage to get rid of that stupid notch which makes no sense.
Johhy Ive never would have signed off on their new designs.

People don’t care about Dex, and Apple is not going to lose sales to the S23.

There is?

Well, if your friends will make fun of you for sending green bubbled text messages then they're not really your friends. :)
Or they just have valid concerns (not being able to send airdrops, group chats messing up etc)

Apple could make it easier to connect people together, but they choose to lock down their ecosystem. Apple knows that this social pressure to stay on iPhone exists, and they take advantage of it deliberately and double down on it because it sells more iPhones.

If apple had a hand in developing cell phones in general, I bet you that they would have made text messaging exclusive to apple phones, and in order to reach to someone who didn't have an apple phone, your only option was to call them.

Ouch! Devastating news. This is going to be tough upcoming months for Apple. Folks, stop holding on to your devices and upgrade!
Well you are going to need Apple devices to place an order for food, bills, and pay rent. 🙈
My current devices do what I need them to. With inflation and rising interest rates many of us are saving what’s left of our disposable income to make sure we can continue to buy food and pay our mortgage. People are going to continue to look for places to save and having the latest Apple gadget just isn’t a priority for a lot of folks at the moment.

GoFundMe now available for Apple,..lets all pray we can once again reach $2 Trillion folks.

Please help if you can, as every $ helps.

Apple needs to be very careful with their strategy outside of the USA. In particular Europe. Their pricing is so obscene vs the android options that makes lots of people not bother with apple.

iOS marketshare is on the 10%s in some countries and that has the direct consequence that the local app ecosystem suffers. I'm already starting to see how iOS versions for some local services are either non-existent or just poorly done. Which makes it even less likely for people to stay on iOS for their next phone.

They need to come out with a lot more SE-like devices at competitive pricing.
This.
in Sweden we have about 10 million people. According to latest data 48% of the Swedes using an iPhone. And can we guess that this 48% also have more iDevices?
Im not saying that 5 million people is a big market, especially if you compare it to the US market, but there is many countries in Europe.
Apple should do the math🙂

Apple has been stagnant. Boring iPadOS, iOS, iPad, iPhone, iMac, etc etc. The improvement only on cpu, display and RAM (plus battery for AW and camera for iPhone). There is no breakthrough products anymore. I still have iPad 2 (2010) and compare side by side with iPad Pro 11 (2021), nothing much changes except on those 3 areas above (after 11 years!).

Another thing that question me, is why they increase the price while almost everyone in the world are impacted by COVID and facing economic turndown. I thought, silicon processor will lower the price as they didn’t have to pay license to Intel anymore and can drop unnecessary fan. But unfortunately that’s not the case.

For anyone familiar with the history of Apple, it’s very clear.

Extraordinarily overvalued company over recent years, coasting on decades old innovations.

Steve Jobs brought a very specific set of values to the company; to create products that will enable people to change the world, to break the mould and push boundaries, innovate and ignore dogma.

That all died when he did, and you’ve got now a company that’s essentially become a shiner version of Dell. Monotonous, predictable, stagnant and boring.

The stock market is delayed in this regard; the illusion around Apple is fading and their stock price will come to reflect that soon.

Apple is hardly the only technology stock that is notably down over the past year:
AMD – down 55.7%
Nvidia – 51.1%
Intel – down 49.7%
Qualcomm – down 42.7%
Alphabet – down 38.3%
HP – down 31.8%
Apple – down 30.4%
Dell – down 30.1%
Asus – down 29.4%
Lenovo – down 27.7%
Microsoft – down 27.2%
Samsung – down 25.3%

Does this therefore mean all of these companies, and others, have also become stagnant, boring and/or are coasting on decades old innovations?

All of this looks to be more of a tech sector issue than just an Apple issue.

Despite declines in the past year, Apple stock is still up around 186% versus five years ago and outperforming the Nasdaq.

Mouth breathers scaredy cat over a recession, so they pull their money out of the market because gold is falling and crypto is currently under investigation for fraud.
