The pretty but unergonomic mouse... I have one but almost never use it. The Magic Trackpad is great, at least. A pity it's stupidly expensive- the same as a basic laptop in the UK.

I have one of those unergonomic mice too, it came with my 27" iMac -- I *never* use it. I tried putting my hand on it when I got it and then tossed it into the bone pile. Worst ever mouse!

In my own opinion, the “hate” toward the Magic Mouse 2 is overblown. None of my accessories or tools can be used while charging. In fact other than the laptops, iPhones and iPads, every chargeable device/accessory I have is either charged or used…but not both (simultaneously).
The magic keyboard can charge and be used at the same time.

Butterfly keyboard. It was a complete show-stopper. If you hated the terrible key feel, or if it broke, your laptop was useless.

Also, the amount of complaining about the Magic Mouse charge port is totally disproportional to the actual inconvenience. The thing warns you for weeks before it dies, and even if you miss that you can take literally 10 minutes to walk away from your desk and get enough of a charge to get through your day. It's a silly port placement, but easily surmountable.

Agree. This helps quite a bit, though, and gives your hand a place to hang onto.

Some people are defending Apple as if their own lives were at stake. I wonder if these people are deliberately turning a blind eye to reality or have actually never used good hardware from other manufacturers.

Best post in this thread was this here:

The Magic Mouse is an example of something that looks like poor design, but honestly isn't.

1. You can't use it while charging, which is by design. That should be obvious.
2. It's supposed to be a wireless mouse, and leaving it plugged in all the time is what most people would do. So ergonomically, forcing people to unplug it to use it is the intended use case.
3. Leaving the mouse plugged in all the time would also have implications for the battery; constant charging would be bad for it. Letting it drain while plugged in would be confusing.

Should Apple have made a charging dock or something similar? Probably. But making it impossible to use while charging is exactly what was intended, and it was executed quite well. And I've never met anyone who has one that cared one lick about it.

If we follow your (completely pointless) reasoning, than the Apple Magic Keyboard must be poor design, as it can be used while charging. :D
