OP, you may have had a case if Apple hadn't released the iPhone SE and iPad Pro 9.7 this past month. But they did.
Do you honestly expect them to discontinue the SE 6 months after its release, only to be replaced with a near-identical model? (Sure, they did it with iPad once before, but this is iPhone) Or even more confusing, are you suggesting they'll just rename the SE to Air?
Now about the iPads. The "Air" model will go away. It has to. The iPad Pro 9.7 is technically the Air 3. Now let's say it wasn't, and they really were coming out with an Air 3. The specs for the 3 would have to be in between the Air 2 and the Pro. Not only would that be hard to do, but t would be extremely pointless. The iPad will eventually go to just Mini and Pro in 2 sizes, unless they wait another year or two and just put the old Pro specs in the Air 2's body.
