Brilliant move by apple.

Despite all the ridicule, they'll still probably sell a million units a year; when you consider that it's nearly entirely profit, that's another 20M or so to their bottom line.

I'm pretty sure there's a product manager tasked with combing through their spare parts & accessories list to work out what else they could sell directly for a huge markup.

Damn! The Polishing Cloth is sold out until December now! That is the shipping date I got! However my Macbook Pro M1 Max was moved from shipping in December to mid November!

On the one hand I mostly like my Apple products. On the other, I cannot even fathom the kind of money people must have to buy some of the things Apple puts out. To people who bought decked out Mac Pros including the $400 wheels and the monitor with its $1000 stand, what’s another $400 for a leather airtag holder or a $20 piece of cloth?

I wonder how many of those people who purchased this at <$20 gave even just that same amount to any charity over the last year.

This pretty much is the crowning achievement of Apple marketing. I don’t know where else they can go from here. Maybe collectors’ plates to compete with the Franklin Mint?
