Huge disappointment on Apple iPad 10 gen.
Was hoping for the iPad 9 gen to be affordable and the iPad 10 gen to launch with the same price as the iPad 9 gen or price increase on $50

That's what they're doing. It's pretty clear that the vision for the line is the iPad 10 plus two sizes of Pro. The rest are just older models that each fill a market niche. Why discontinue them?

If that’s what they’re doing then they’re failing badly on execution.

If they still have stocks of old models then punt them over to the refurbished & clearance section of the store like everything else.

Apple today updated its iPad lineup with a new 10th-generation entry-level iPad and new high-end iPad Pro options. With the two new iPads, Apple's iPad lineup is larger than ever, with even more choices for customers.

At the top end of the spectrum, the lineup starts with the iPad Pro, which begins at $799. With the iPad Pro, users get the new M2 Apple silicon chip, advanced displays with ProMotion, and support for features like hover with the second-generation Apple Pencil. For users who want powerful performance without the more advanced features, the iPad Air is powered by the M1 chip and comes in a portable design that starts at $599.

The ninth-generation entry-level iPad also remains in the lineup at $329, but today was followed up with the new 10th-generation model. The new baseline iPad includes an entirely new design that comes in bold colors, is powered by the A14 chip, and has USB-C. For customers who want the smallest iPad possible, the iPad mini comes in a compact design that starts at $499.

Do somebody know if any iPad has dual frequency GPS like the iPhone 14 Pro, please?

I am waiting to see what @sracer says about today's announcements.
Sorry I'm just getting around to it now... I've been driving from Arizona to Oregon over the past 3 days and just now having the opportunity to catch up on stuff.

As the regulars here know, I had been saying that a 10th gen base iPad would take on the newer chassis and higher MSRP... and because I'm a fan of the "classic" chassis, I jumped to get a 9th gen while they were still available.

What I didn't anticipate was Apple keeping the 9th gen around...THAT came as a total surprise to me.

The fact that they called this new iPad the 10th gen is an indication to me that the 9th gen will go away soon and the 10th gen will be the base low-cost option. I expect the price to remain unchanged when that happens. An "organic" way of increasing the price.

This 10th gen, IMO is a bargain compared to the Air... that is if a person is considering the purchase of an Air, they should take a good long look at their requirements and give the 10th gen a serious look. Not only is the 10th gen cheaper, but it supports the 1st gen Pencil. Contrary to what the "experts" claim, the 1st gen Pencil is still a world-class option... at a cheaper price-point. I also expect that it'll support the Logi Crayon technology (and alternatives) that are even cheaper and function well.

But as with all the other new chassis iPads, there are no smart-cover and smart-keyboard cover options available. This is perhaps the greatest reason why I have no interest in the newer style iPads.

The 10th gen is the "neo-classic" iPad. If I were a fan of the new chassis, the 10th gen would be a no-brainer for me.

I'm an oddball. I believe more options are better for consumers, but I realize that in Appleland, more options can be confusion. I also expect that some people will take it as a personal insult that Apple still makes the 9th gen available for purchase. 😂
