Are the advertising people at Apple really stupid enough to believe that advertising is going to get people to fork over $300+ more for an iPad? The people who buy the iPads now, will likely continue to buy them. But no amount of advertising, of any kind, is going to get someone who wants to pay $150-200 for a tablet, to spend $300 more for an iPad. Someone who wants to pay $150-200 for a tablet is simply not an iPad prospect. End of story.

So I guess Microsoft should give up on the XBox One, and Sony on the PS4 because the people who want to spend $250 on a game system will buy a Nintendo Wii no matter what their ads say?

Or just maybe people will pay more for a perceived better item?

Or maybe you don't understand that people who aren't willing to spend more than $150-200 will NOT spend $500.

They're not advertising to people who don't want to pay more for their products. They're advertising to people who are willing to pay more. Not everyone is a prospect for Microsoft, Sony, or Apple, and it is entirely unrealistic for any marketer to believe that non-prospects can be converted.

Apple's about to unleashed that can of whoop @$$. Just like Phil said, "can't innovate anymore my @$$" they know what's up and are, again, gonna take the world by storm. Why else have they've been steadily opening stores everywhere. The next 10 years are off to a good start. Go :apple:

The ads are not only meant to instill a great sense of brand, but also provide a terrific counter to the silly Samsung Galaxy and Windows Surface ads (really, people dancing on tables because they can use Excel????).

Apple's always been best conveying lifestyle, feelings, and emotions. It doesn't appeal to everyone - especially those who want to see "features".

One of the most powerful ads still is Apple's first iPhoto ad. Yes, there's features - but it's not about that. It's about emotion:

Or maybe you don't understand that people who aren't willing to spend more than $150-200 will NOT spend $500.

Some will, though.

Imagine my daughter who wants an iPad, but only has $200. She COULD buy a generic tablet, but she doesn't want a generic tablet - she wants what SHE thinks is a lot better than a generic tablet - an iPad. She bought into the hype by the ads.

She will look for other ways - ask Grandma for money on her birthday, ask for the iPad as a present. Do more chores to get more money, babysit more. Ask her boyfriend to buy her it, buy a used one for less money, etc. etc.

Eventually, Apple's ads get a person who could have bought a $200 tablet out the door with a more expensive Apple product. Advertising DOES work, which is why advertisers do it.

It won't work on everyone, but it will work on enough people to make the advertising worth it.

Yes, what you have posted is a story.

A family member was exactly the way you as you described until they went into a Apple store and tried out an iPad. Guess what, they walked out spending $500. These new ads will get people into the Apple store.

If finally seems like Apple has found their voice and footing in the post-Jobs era.

I feared the new apple ads would soon go the Samsung way... Mock the very consumers that you expect to pay your bills...

Once again you make proud apple... Keep it up...!

I really am hoping someday Apple "does" something innovative instead of "telling people" they have done something innovative. For all I know, without the advertising, they are a year behind most smartphone OS.

Yep I love love love that video. :)

I think the spot is amazing but it was pointed out to me that "no's" is incorrect. It should say "nos" because that is the proper pluralization of "no."

At first, I thought "I can't believe Apple screwed that up!" But as I watched it again and again, I realized how ugly a word "nos" is. Haha. I'm sure there was some heated debate between the writers and the designers on whether to go with the grammatically correct way or the way that isn't ugly. I think they made the right decision.

.....According to the report's sources, the summer campaign will not focus on any single product, instead promoting the overall brand and seamless integration of the Apple ecosystem.....

.....The new campaign seeks to refocus Apple's advertising efforts on the company and its connections with users, hopefully bringing a stronger and more cohesive message.

An impressive ad! If they can keep these coming ads from appearing to be too elitist, I think they will do very well.

The new apple ads lack the energy and imagination of classic ones of the past. Google and Microsoft have more energy and intelligence in their ads these days than the boring, pompous new Apple ads.

As much as I dislike the way Apple is going these days putting form over function in a lot of their products I have to say this commercial is well done. It even includes a nod to music professionals and DJs who have apparently long used Macbook Pros for their work and performances.

Can't hate Apple for really nailing an advertisement. I know a lot of people who use Apple products because they do exactly what this commercial says. While my needs may be different, I can't hate on them for basically showing in 30 seconds why Apple products might just be a great thing for lots of people.

Still don't like the new Mac Pro though. But there's a reason that wasn't in the commercial.

As someone who dislikes Apple more and more everyday I disagree. Most Apple product users I know these days are exactly using their devices like in the commercial. It nails the concept of Apple's tech being simple and fading into the background of daily life doing it's job.

Sure we all loved the I'm a Mac and I'm a PC commercials, but Apple's bread and butter are iDevices not computers. So those commercials don't fit their model much. The product only ads like the iPad ones were terrible, and this commercial is a sign Apple is moving in the right direction at least in marketing.

Apple is boring and uninspiring these days as far as products go, but they show they "get" the core customer in the commercial. Someone who wants a simple, no nonsense device to do things in their daily lives outside of computing. That counts for something in my mind and will only help to increase their sales.

They needed to do this particular campaign a couple years ago as the tablet touched so many lives, and so many were already touched by the iPhone for a couple years. The iPad especially impacted the young children & older generation... and the iPhone just dominated/dominates the smartphone market since its debut. These 2 devices impacted the world just as much as the iPod did for music.

Basically, Apple is different now then lets say 5 years ago(or pre-iPad & especially pre-iPhone days)... the company is everywhere, EVERYWHERE.

And there focus should be on showing how these product do enrich our lives with use... whether it be for work, play, education, or daily needs, etc.

I personally think Apple needs to do this campaign for 2to3yrs for success. They have to showcase their niche that they care about the products from inside out, and they are still at their roots @ Apple.

Sad to say, this is Apple's best ad since SJ passed.

I like where Apple is going - Jony Ive, Tim Cook & co will start to make way in 2013 & 2014...

dont worry, samsung will copy. they might build a factory in US :p
